DARIUS’ POV
Alara looked a bit disappointed at that moment, but it was hard for me to find the right words to say to her while she stared curiously, waiting for an answer.
“I am sorry, Alara.” I didn’t even know what I was apologizing for, but I hoped that the angry look on her face was going to disappear.
“What if I told you that Gaius is not guilty of the crime he was accused of?” Alara asked, taking a step closer to me.
“You were there, Alara. You heard the captive.” I said calmly, hoping to hear something else that could explain the things she said.
“Gaius didn’t open the East gate…”Her voice almost sounded like a whisper, and I could tell that she still had something else to say.
“I know who is responsible for this, Darius. But I doubt if you are going to believe me.” Alara
