Chapter 9 S tacy “That has to be the last of it, right?” I asked. There was no response from the empty house. Emma was at my mother's place, allowing me to have the house to myself. I had been reluctant to continue packing after running into Ray, but it was my house. I had paid for it and I would not let some guy make me uncomfortable in my home. He didn't seem to know anything about Emma and I planned to keep it that way. It wasn't his business regardless. What he didn't know wouldn't hurt him.
