Chapter1
ADA
“Congratulations Luna, you are pregnant,” doctor Juliane says with a beautiful smile on her face. I hold my palms together, trying to stop them from trembling. My heart is beating so fast and there’s a ringing in my ear.
Did I hear her clearly?
Am I really in the hospital or is this some kind of imagination as always? I can hear the beating of my heart and feel the trembling of my body and then a distinct voice that’s trying to speak through all this chaos.
“Luna, Luna….” A finger snaps on my face. I blink as I stare at Juliane. She has a worried look on her face.
“Are you okay, Luna?”
“I…..” my throat feels constricted. I clear it, take a deep breath and focus my attention back on her. “I’m fine. You said that I’m pregnant. Is that….. are you….”
“Yes, Luna, you are pregnant. This is your result.” She replies with a bright smile as she hands the test result to me. I take it with a shaky hand, my heart beating so loud as I look into it. Tears slipped down my cheeks as I read through it.
I’m pregnant. I’m really pregnant.
“Thank you so much Juliane. Thank you.” I don’t know what I’m saying. It’s not like she’s the one that put the baby inside my womb. All I know is that I’m so happy right now. I feel like my heart will burst from happiness.
I’m so excited as I rush down the hall of the hospital towards my car outside. I nearly bump into someone. I apologize and continue walking. Anyone that sees how excited I am about finding out I’m pregnant may think that I’m overreacting. But the truth is that I’m not. This is five years into my marriage without a child. Only a Luna like me will understand the pressure.
At some point I was scared that maybe something happened to my womb after the miscarriage I had. After a series of tests, I found out my womb was okay. I could conceive so I had hope.
I really want to shout to the top of my voice and tell the whole world that I'm finally carrying the heir of this pack, but I contain my excitement. I need to tell Adrian first.
As long as I can remember, Adrian had been the only man I loved. It started as a crush when I was still thirteen years old and later it bloomed into love. Our marriage wasn’t planned. It was just a coincidence which I will never regret. I mean, I got to marry the man I love so I was happy.
He desperately wants an heir. I mean which Alpha doesn’t want an heir. He’s already thirty. Other Alphas his age have sons who are grown up now. This news will excite him for sure. It will definitely revive our marriage which seems to be fading away in these past couple of weeks.
“Can you drive faster, Owen?” I say to my driver. My heart is beating faster and I can’t stop tapping my legs and hands.
Soon we arrived at the pack house. He’s not home yet. I will have to make his favorite dish while I wait for him to come home. I ask the maids to take the evening off. They were happy and thanked me before leaving.
Adrian loves pasta, especially the one I cook. He always tells me that I have magic hands. He has never seen anyone that cooks pasta so good like me. It always makes me happy when he says all those little praises to me so I tend to do things that will prompt him to continue doing so.
There was a time he came home and said he was so hungry. I decided to make his favorite pasta but he stopped me and said that he needs something else. And that other food he wants to eat is me. I’m smiling from ear to ear as I remember those sweet moments. Even though our marriage was not meant to be, he has always treated me right. Though things started changing in the past two weeks, I'm sure it’s because of my infertility. Now that I’m pregnant, everything will be fine again.
After a few hours I’m done cooking. I set up the table with candles and flowers. I make sure it looks romantic. I take my bath and change into something sexy. We haven’t had s*x for over two weeks now. I don’t mind doing it tonight. I checked the time and it’s three minutes past ten.
He’s always home before quarter past ten. I sat in the dining room waiting patiently for him.
Running a big business and being the Alpha of one of the biggest packs in our region, he’s always busy. Sometimes I just want him to stop overworking and relax, but he has responsibilities he can’t avoid.
I don’t know how long I waited. I’m feeling hungry, but I refused to eat without him. I continue to look at the clock. It is ten minutes past twelve. He’s never this late. I’m beginning to worry. Should I call him? I know that I shouldn’t be worried. He can take good care of himself but he’s my husband and it’s way past the time he returns home. I should be worried.
Just as I’m about to pick up the phone and call him I hear a sound from the door. I quickly rush towards the hall and there he is losing his tie. I take a deep breath of relief as my hand subconsciously runs through my stomach. He's as handsome as ever. The man I’ve always been in love with.
After pulling his shoe and putting on the flip-flop, he looks up and our eyes meet. I hold my breath as I flush under his gaze. We’ve been married for five years, but I still feel butterflies whenever he looks at me with those sexy green eyes. I think I am falling in love with him day by day.
“Adrian,” I squeak happily as I throw myself on him, hugging him tight. He holds me around my waist and steadies us. The force at which I threw myself on him would have made us fall, but I’m just so happy after hearing the good news.
“Why are you still awake?” He asks as he carefully sets me down. There’s coldness in his voice, but I ignore it. It’s been a long stressful day, so he’s probably tired.
“I made dinner for us. I want us to eat together.”
“You could have eaten without me and gone to bed. Why did you wait until now?” His voice is stern. I bite my lips trying not to feel hurt. It’s just a bad day, nothing much.
“I’m sorry. It’s just that I have something I want to tell you,” I murmur.
“I also have something to tell you.”
“You can tell me yours first.”
He sighs and walks towards the living room. I follow him, ignoring the tension I’m feeling. Why do I feel that something wrong will happen? I run my palm on my stomach as I take a deep breath to get myself together.
He settles on the sofa, a deep frown on his face. Now I’m worried. Did something happen? Maybe that’s why he came home late. We have always run the pack together. I have the best opinion on every problem. Maybe there’s a problem and he needs my help to solve it.
“Take this paper and sign it,” he says coldly as he hands me a brown envelope. I opened it feeling a bit tense. My eyes caught the bold red prints on the top of the paper.
What! Divorce agreement!!!!
