I was seated behind my desk, trying to work, when Steel decided to make an appearance.
“So, you went back to Zelda.”
I didn’t bother looking up.
“Twice.”
The disgust radiating through our bond was almost amusing.
“Of all the women in this pack, I still don’t understand why you choose her.”
I leaned back in my chair.
“Because she knows what this is. There are no expectations, no promises and, most importantly, no delusions about becoming my Luna.”
Steel scoffed.
“You assume every young woman would become obsessed with you.”
I gave a humourless laugh.
“Have you forgotten Roxy already?”
That shut him up for a moment.
Roxy had been proof enough of what happened when someone convinced herself that physical attention meant something more.
