“I said I am not hungry.” I whispered, yelled when I heard the door open again.
When I didn’t get a reply, a sudden wave of perfumes filled my nostrils and I realized it was not the maid, it was him, I didn’t want to look up to see his face.
“Five minutes is all you have, get ready and come down for breakfast.” Dominic demanded, and I didn’t speak.
Did he leave, or was he still here, I had no idea?
His presence scared me, he didn’t want me to leave, even though I had no choice but to accept his deal, I wish it was not like this, I blamed Nicholas, he led me into doing something like this.
“Good morning.” I grumbled when I walked into the dinning room, I found myself sitting beside him, and I realized they were other people in the room.
One of his maids handed me over a plate and I felt unease, I told myself I would not cry again, this is Dominic Ricci, he won’t under stand emotions, I gripped on to the cutlery.
“Eat.” He demanded and I nodded.
I could still hear his words ringing in my head, thirty days or Candice would get killed, she can’t get killed. She has been excited about this wedding for a long time and after what we have been through she deserved all of it.
We started to eat, I could tell all eyes were on me, the only woman in the room, when my eyes peered up, and it met a particular brown eyes, I felt my throat closing up when this unfamiliar face stared at me like he wanted me dead, when a tear slipped out of my eyes and I choked back on a sausage.
“Aurora.” I heard Dominic call my name, my breathing escalated, and I felt him tap on my shoulder, I didn’t think he was capable of helping me, until he had my back against his body and his hand wrapped around me. “Breathe.” He demanded. “f*****g hell breathe, Aurora.” He yelled again when he jerked me softly and the little sausage fell to the ground.
He turned to his men, I didn’t dare look up.
“Everyone get out.” He yelled before he turned back to me. “You have to learn to eat gently.”
“I just want to go home.” I whispered against my breath, a tear slipped out of my eyes.
“Is that your decision.” He asked, his tone a little harsh when my eyes peered up and it met his.
Was that my decision.
I didn’t think so.
“What happens after thirty days, and how do I know you are saying the truth.” I asked.
“That’s up to you to decide, will you not trust Dominic Ricci and risk the little that you have, or will you trust him, and you will be safe, do you want to risk your life and the life of your friend, I gave you enough time, and now you have to make a decision.” Dominic resorted.
“I should have never kissed you.” I breathed out, my throat was started to feel better, his eyes met mine, and he smirked before he leaned in, his scent dawning on me.
“You are better off hating me, nothing of mine ever loves me.” He said, and my eyes widened.
I am not his, I could never be his.
I bit on my lip and my eyes stared at his.
“I will take your deal, I will stay for thirty days and not a second later, you will stay away from my friend, and you will never mention her, thirty days is all you have Dominic.” I stated, my heart still pounding against my chest, my fingers fiddling against each other.
“My name sounds good on your lips sweetheart.” He smirked, and I didn’t dare speak, he pulled away from me, and he helped me stand up.
I think breakfast is ruined, and I may have just signed a deal with the devil, for Candice, for myself, I choose not to trust him, I choose to trust me, I choose to go by my instincts because if anything was to happen to her, I would never recover from it.
“Come with me.” He suddenly said, and I didn’t budge. “I won’t ask again.” He demanded.
He led me into one of the rooms, when we got in, I realized it was his office, the boos were stacked perfectly, there were a few bottles of whiskey laying on the table, the window was slightly left ajar and not only that, it was filled with the scent of his choice of perfume.
“What are we doing here?” I mumbled against my breath.
He didn’t speak, he headed toward his desk.
“What do you remember about your parents.” He asked, and I stared at him, he was not joking.
“I don’t have any, I grew up in an orphanage.” I breathed out and he stared at me. “Is that why I am here, you want me to tell you about my life.” I asked.
“I will see you at dinner.” He suddenly changed the subject, he knew how to get on my last nerves.
I wasted no time in heading out of the room, he is Dominic Riccio, he could find out anything he wanted.
I found myself laying on the bed as I thought of him, the next time I woke up it was a little past eleven, I heard my stomach rumbling when I headed out of the room.
I heard a noise coming from Dominic's room, I stopped in my tracks as I glanced around, and I felt the urge to head toward his room, after contemplating with myself, I headed toward his door and I placed my ears against it.
He was talking to someone.
“She is safe with me, and you know that too, she was never better off without me, she has no idea the danger she is in.” I heard.
Was he talking about me?
I pressed my ears further in, my heart beating against my chest when the door cracked open, and I fell to the ground.
