First dance

Ophelie's POV " Was it a dream?" I kept questioning while I prepared to make my way back to my room, which was just beside Loic's. It was a contrast to what I had thought or imagined. Loic taking my side seemed to be too soon, and I needed to know what coin I had played so well that it had him this way. Was it s*x? Was it so good that it made him lose his bearings? All of a sudden? "Loic," Astrid muttered out, pained at what had been the outcome, as it wasn't one that she had expected. Maybe she had envisioned me being led to the gallows right about now, but she wasn't given the end that she had thought was going to happen. " Leave Adele. You have less than an hour to get ready for the party, which will be thrown for you. You shouldn't be late to any party that is thrown for you." " Yes, Loic." I let out a sigh on my way out because this has worked out well to my advantage, even when the decision had been shocking. I stayed behind listening to the voices that were being raised before Astrid stomped out. " You are happy now, aren't you? You got what you wanted, you little sneaky liar?" " I didn't lie. For one, you should have been careful because why would you see something and think that I would need it? Is my life in danger here?" " Who knows what you are used to? The double life that you lived before coming here?" " The one that I am here to make you pay for, or what? I don't even know you from Adam, Astrid. You are a stranger to me, and I have nothing against you, unless you do." My steps drew closer as I leaned my lips against her ears. "And who knows what might happen next? The knife might be found in your possession since it seems someone is going about sticking knives in our rooms. See you later, Astrid. I expect to see you in your best." I winked at her before strolling off. I could feel her glares, and I knew that if glances could kill, then I would have dropped dead already, but what could she do? My eyes swept across the room while I waited to hear the chatters of my stepmom and sister, but there were none. It felt fishy because I had left them in here before I went to Loic, so where had they gone? "Your sister and mum were relocated to a different room from yours, my lady." The maid who attended to me explained as she stepped out of the closet. " And this is what you are to put on today, my lady. It came in not too long ago for you." My mouth fell apart while I was lost gazing at the gown. "It's beautiful." I couldn't help but exclaim. It wasn't every day that one got to see beauties such as this, and even when I had been a demon queen, I had a keen eye for the beautiful things of life. " All for you, my lady, and I will be the one to prepare you for tonight." She explained, to which I nodded. " Do your magic." ***************** Minutes passed, and I couldn't believe the person standing in front of the mirror was the same person I had been for the past few days. The royal purple gown, which was adorned with pearls and diamonds, swept the floor. It was V-neck shaped, and its curves fit mine just right. It was made for me. " It's time." The maid announced before I stepped out, counting my steps one at a time before I got to the foyer, which led me to a different room than I had been in earlier. The house was huge, and I made a mental note to tour it on a day when my mood was great and I didn't feel too much of a hassle to myself or anyone. The door was flung open when I got in, and Loic stood in a blue gown, the same shade as that of Astrid, who had her hands lurking with him. My stomach twisted, a pang of pain shot through me, but I kept my face still, not giving a hint on how much I felt affected by what they were doing. Loic had a hand held out to me, ushering me to the podium, which I did, while I made my way over to him so he could do the honor of introducing me to his people. "You all know why you are here today, and that is because the moon goddess has seen one fit enough to bear an heir for me. Adele has been seen fitting to bear one for me." The loud growls and roars weren't deaf to my ears, and even when I felt I was being celebrated, all I wanted to do was run away from the multitude, which seemed to be all over. I knew I had to prepare myself, as I would be getting questions, and countless people would want to associate and get to know me better, but I would rather not do all of that alone. I also knew I would be wanting too much if I expected Loic to stay by my side tonight, as I should have gotten it clear enough even when it wasn't said, I was stupid to believe his stupid little talks. I should have known they were talks men made before s*x. He wouldn't leave Astrid's side to stay beside me. Tonight, I was reminded of whom I would always be, where I would always stand, one I wouldn't have been if he hadn't killed me, taken everything from me. " Now everyone there is food and there is drink, enjoy." He implored, and I let out a breath. The hand he had on mine dropped immediately, leaving me standing all alone on the podium when a voice whispered behind me,"Adele, right? Can I have the first dance? I am sure Loic wouldn't mind."
