The Man Who Lived Two Different Lives (Part 1)

Daniel lived in a part of the city most people tried to avoid.

The buildings were old, the roads were broken, and at night the streetlights barely worked. His apartment was on the third floor of a cracked, yellow building that looked like it could fall at any time.

Inside the room, there was only a small bed, a weak fan, one wooden chair, and a tiny table near the window. The paint on the wall had peeled off long ago, and the ceiling had a dark stain from rainwater.

Every morning, Daniel woke up before sunrise.

Not because he wanted to, but because the heat in the room made it impossible to sleep longer.

He sat on the bed for a moment, looking at his hands.

Strong hands, rough hands, hands that carried heavy boxes every day.

He stood up, wore his old shirt, washed his face in a small bowl of water, and left for work.

Daniel worked at a warehouse at the edge of the city.

The job was hard, and the pay was small.

He carried boxes, loaded trucks, cleaned the floor, and sometimes worked overtime without extra money.

The other workers never respected him.

“Daniel, you are still here?” one of them laughed.

“I thought you would be rich by now.”

Another one added,

“Look at his shoes. Even my younger brother wears better ones.”

They all laughed.

Daniel smiled like he always did.

He never argued.

He never fought.

He just kept working.

Not because he was weak…

But because he knew something nobody else knew.

At the end of the day, Daniel walked home slowly.

He stopped at a small food shop and bought the cheapest bread and tea.

The woman selling food looked at him with pity.

“You work too hard, Daniel.”

He smiled.

“It’s okay. Life will change one day.”

She shook her head.

“You always say that.”

Daniel only smiled again.

When he reached his apartment, someone was waiting outside.

It was Clara.

Clara was his girlfriend for three years.

She was beautiful, smart, and full of dreams.

But she hated poverty more than anything.

She crossed her arms when she saw him.

“You are late again.”

Daniel sighed.

“Work finished late.”

She looked at his clothes with anger.

“Work… work… work…

That is all your life is about.”

Daniel opened the door and both entered the room.

Clara looked around and shook her head.

“I can’t believe I am still coming here.”

Daniel stayed quiet.

She continued,

“My friends are getting married.

They are buying cars.

They are traveling.

And me? I am dating a warehouse worker.”

Daniel looked at her calmly.

“I told you… just give me time.”

Clara laughed angrily.

“Time?

Daniel, we have been together for three years!”

He sat down slowly.

“Things will change soon.”

She turned to him quickly.

“When? When you are 50?

When we are still living in this broken room?”

Daniel didn’t answer.

Clara’s eyes became red.

“I am tired, Daniel.

I am tired of being poor.”

Silence filled the room.

Then she said the words Daniel was expecting.

“I can’t do this anymore.”

He looked up slowly.

“You mean…”

“Yes. I’m leaving.”

Daniel didn’t shout.

He didn’t cry.

He only asked one question.

“If I become successful one day… will you come back?”

Clara looked at him like the question was stupid.

“If you become successful… then we will talk.”

She picked her bag and walked to the door.

Before leaving, she said,

“I need a man with a future… not dreams.”

The door closed.

Daniel sat alone in the quiet room.

For a long time, he didn’t move.

Then slowly… he smiled.

Not a sad smile.

Not a weak smile.

A strange smile.

He reached for his phone and dialed a number.

The call connected immediately.

A serious voice spoke.

“Good evening, Sir.”

Daniel stood up and walked to the window.

“It’s time.”

The voice became respectful.

“Are you sure, Mr. Daniel?”

He looked at the dark street outside.

“Yes. The test is over.”

The man on the phone replied,

“Should we prepare the jet?”

Daniel closed his eyes for a moment.

“Yes. Tomorrow.”

He ended the call.

Then he sat on the bed again like nothing happened.

The same poor room.

The same broken fan.

The same old shirt.

But the truth was…

Daniel was not poor.

Not even close.

And tomorrow…

Everything would begin.

Episode 2 – The Trip Nobody Understood
Daniel did not sleep that night after Clara left him. He sat on the bed in his small room, looking at the wall quietly. The room was hot, the fan was making noise, and the light was dim. He slowly brought out his phone and made a call. “Prepare the flight. I’m coming tomorrow.” The voice on the other side replied, “Yes Sir, everything will be ready.” Daniel ended the call and lay down like nothing happened. The next morning, he went to work as usual. At the warehouse, his co-workers started laughing again. “Daniel, you still wearing this same shirt?” “Man, you need miracle, not job.” “Even your girlfriend left you, we heard.” Daniel only smiled. His boss shouted, “Daniel! Carry those boxes faster! You think this place is your father’s house?” Daniel nodded calmly. “Yes sir.” Nobody knew this would be his last day there. At lunch break, Daniel removed his old work gloves and said, “I won’t be coming back tomorrow.” One worker laughed loudly. “Why? Did you find another poor job?” Daniel smiled. “No… I’m traveling.” They all laughed. “Traveling? With which money?” “Maybe he is going to the village.” “Or going to clean toilets abroad.” Daniel picked his small bag and walked away without saying anything. That evening, he entered a taxi. “Airport,” he said. The driver looked at his clothes and asked, “You sure?” Daniel smiled. “Yes.” When they arrived, Daniel entered the airport quietly. He walked to the counter and showed his passport. The lady checked the ticket and suddenly stood up. “Welcome back, Mr. Daniel.” People around looked surprised. Business class ticket. Daniel walked inside like a different person. When the plane landed in London, something shocking happened. Outside the airport, a black luxury car was waiting. A man in suit rushed forward and bowed slightly. “Welcome back, Sir.” Daniel gave him the bag. “How is the company?” The man replied, “Everything is ready. The board members are waiting for you.” Daniel looked at the city lights and said, “Good… It’s time to end this test.” He entered the car. Nobody in his old life knew… The poor worker they laughed at… Was the owner of a global company. To be continued… Episode 3 🔥
