Unparalleled Existence

Starlight planet…. Radiant continent…… Legacy city….. In the cold and desolate streets of the northern part of Legacy city, the foot of an old man left deep prints on the snow covered streets, although called old, the man had the figure of a middle-aged person, there wasn’t any wrinkles on his face or body, his body stood straight as he walked,as far as the eye can see all was covered in snow, most of the buildings in the area were dead silent with the roof and compound covered in snow, an evidence of it being abandoned. Very few people could be seen in thick and heavy sweaters rushing to their homes. People who saw the man walking leisurely on the streets were surprised but seeing as the falling snow avoided him like a plague, they immediately understood that he was one of those people. Walking along the desolate area, ignoring the snow flakes and piercingly cold wind, he approached an alley which was almost at the ends of the street,there were dilapidated houses around, probably the handwork of the winter wind. The faint sounds of an infant's cry could be heard, walking with fast steps towards the estimated location of the cry, he arrived before a completely run-down house,it could be said that among all the houses in that area the destruction done to this one was the worst. In front of the destroyed gate,on the cold and snow-covered road, laid an infant wrapped in tattered clothes to prevent the cold from taking his life, the man hastened his pace as he picked him up and held him in his arms. “What an unfortunate fellow.” The old man muttered as he looked at the baby in his arms.Such situation was usually seen across the city, as parents tend to abandon their babies after birth, for reasons such as hunger or resentment. Most of the babies die before even receiving care and attention from people, other infants abandoned at this place during this time of the year,would have long become ice sculptures, but this little one was sure an odd type,quite stubborn.Feeling the warmth of another body the little guy stopped crying as he looked at the old man with wide eyes, stretching out his tiny hand. The man's heart softened as he realized he couldn't leave the helpless child in the cold. his little hand reached out to take hold of the man's long beard. “Hoho.” The man laughed cheerfully which made the baby giggle. The man examined the child's physical features and was quite elated at the baby's nice features. Pale-blue hairs, a perfectly pointed nose, well rounded charming lips, and a face seemingly carved from the best piece of jade out there. The most striking feature of the child was his gem-like eyes which seemed deep, boundless and unfathomable. The profoundness contained in the eyes of the little guy made the old man startled for a while. “This little guy is indeed weird, even an expert at my level can't fathom the look in his eyes.” After a while the old man left the area and headed towards the centre of Legacy city. Now legacy city was one of the numerous one star city in the Radiant continent, with a landmass rivaling New York City. Although it was one of the star rank city on the continent, it had a teeming population of about 5.6 million people and it could be said to be a bustling and flourishing city. The winter in the northern part of the city can be extremely harsh at times and also abnormal, the higher ups of the city had made numerous investigations as to why it was so but nothing was found, so every year before winter the citizens resident in the Northern part of the city will migrate to the other parts of the city,only the poor and rejected will stay back as they may not be able to pay the transport fee,some survive the winter while others may not be so fortunate. Winter in the Northern region was not for the weak. Heart of Legacy city…. Unlike the desolate and abandoned streets in the Northern region of the city, the Central region of the city was more lively as people and all sorts of vehicles moved either on ground or hovered in the air above. There were many majestic and strong standing buildings in this area which showcased flourishing nature. Different business were still open and functioning as people walked in and out of the building. Although it was snowing, the road wasn’t covered in snow and majority of the persons moving on the street wore light clothes. Legacy city was divided into the Southern,Southeastern,Northern,Northwestern,Central,Eastern and Western region. The Central region was the biggest of them all as it housed the overlord of the city in it and other well-known and powerful families and establishments, as a result, the region is regarded as the most prosperous among the seven regions, followed by the Southern region,the Northwestern,the Southeastern,the Eastern,the Western and finally the Northern region. The Central region is also referred to as the “Heart of Legacy city.” The old man arrived before a vast and majestic gate with the baby in his arms who was already sleeping peacefully. As he approached the gates of the mansion from the darkness, two guards stopped him. “Halt.” One of the guards in military attire stopped his advance as he commanded in a haughty and arrogant tone,after all, the family they worked for was the overlord of the city, so a form of superiority came to be in their minds. “Who are you and what do you seek?” One of the guards asked him, due to the darkness the old man's face was not visible to the two. The old man seemed to not have heard them as he continued his advances towards the gate. “I advise you to stop to avoid resorting to violence, the Scarlet Estate is not a place where anyone can come in, so please turn and-.” Before he could finish his sentence the old man's face came into their view with the aid of the light above the gate. Recognizing the calm face of the man as he approached them, the two guards broke into cold sweat as the went down on one knee and yelled out in unison. “Greetings Old lord.” The two guards quaked in fear as the remembered how arrogant and disrespectful they were to the man. Not everyone one in the city were aware of the identity of the man before them,if he was to leave the estate just as they commanded, then they who were mere guards can forget remaining in Legacy city entirely. “Mn.” The old man responded with a slight nod as he made his way through the open gates of the mansion. After the old man left the two guards stood up and looked each other in the eye, the could clearly see the the fear in each others eyes. The made a mental note to always check the faces of everyone who visits the mansion from that day onward lest the provoke an existence the aren't supposed to and the may not even know how they lost their heads.
