Still Pining Over Him
It has been a couple of months since I last saw my sister, so when she called to tell me that she was coming to visit, I immediately jumped off the sofa and actually made myself decent to go pick her up from the airport. A lot of people wouldn't understand the relationship between my sister and me because a lot of persons doesn't really have a good relationship with their siblings. Tessa and I have been the best of friends since we were in diapers, well since I've been in diapers and she was already using the big girl potty. I didn’t really put much effort into my looks since it was only Tessa, but that didn’t mean that I wasn’t presentable. Tessa would rip me a new one if I wasn’t at least put together, so I threw my hair up in a messy bun that actually looked like I spent a bunch of time on it, threw on my joggers that shaped my ass nicely, and threw on my way too big for me sweater which belonged to the ex-boyfriend Tessa was about to kick my ass for still pining over. Chase was a douche bag in every sense of the word. He would openly flirt with other girls right in my face and then make me look like the bad guy for not entertaining his morbid thoughts about choking me till my eyes pulp out during s*x! Like who the hell does that? I grabbed an apple from the basket in my mostly empty kitchen and stuffed it in my mouth as I ran around like a chicken without its head looking for my car keys. You can’t really judge me since I haven’t been out of the house in almost a week now, hence my mostly empty kitchen. Okay, fine. It’s completely empty. I needed to go shopping as soon as I picked Tessa up from the airport. Maybe I could even do when we’re on our way back. If I could find my darn keys that is. I finally found the keys hanging off the back of my room door, like how did they even get there? My phone ringing broke me from my thoughts as I answered it and locked the door behind me, throwing a dirty glance at the man that just cut right in front of me and almost made me bump into his back. “Hey Tess, I’m on my way.” “I knew it. You haven’t left the house yet have you?” Tessa yelled angrily in my ear. “Like, I’m mostly in traffic now so that’s why I haven’t gotten there yet.” I lied. The guy behind me in the elevator snickered into his hand at my blatant lie. “Quit lying and get your ass here ASAP.” She yelled. I could only imagine the people at the airport looking at her like she belongs in an asylum, because that is exactly where she belongs. Tessa doesn’t care about what other people thought of her and that was why I admired my sister so much. That was why she was such a great role model for me. I wish that I was more like Tessa, my life would have been so much easier. “Yes, mom.” I say sarcastically before I hang up. She was probably gonna chew me out for that too. Not because we were best friends, that doesn’t mean that she’s not the annoying, older overprotective sister. “Lying is a bad thing. You shouldn’t practice it.” A deep voice said from behind. His voice sounded like strawberries dipped in chocolate, sweet and oh so savoury. It had a dark undertone to it like everything that comes out of his mouth has an innuendo behind it. “Oh my god. I already have my sister on my case I don’t need another person. No offence to you or anything but you should practice what you preach.” I say. I recognized the guy. He was my ‘way too sinfully hot to be human’ neighbor, that I dubbed the name Mr McHottie. I lived in an apartment complex on the top floor. It was in a decent part of the town and may seem high end to some persons but, the maintenance was crap here. The Air conditioning stopped working every day at 3 in the afternoon. Every day! Other than that little problem, everything else ran smoothly. Except for this guy and his legions of women that he brought home every other night. Which was why I could throw back in his face about lying because that’s exactly what he does to the poor girls he takes home. He lies to them after he’s finished about calling them back, and then he never does. He just takes a new one home. I know all this because one more thing about this apartment that I find crappy, there were thin walls between the rooms. Once he was in his room with his conquests, I made sure to be in my living room with my head phones tucked into my ears turned up to the highest volume. It didn’t help much in case you were wondering. It also didn’t help that you could literally hear the headboard smacking against the wall. I tried reporting him to the landlord a couple of times but my calls went unanswered, like hello landlord, one of your tenants has a problem with her neighbor trying to smash through her wall with his headboard. Pick up the damn phone! “It’s also not polite to eavesdrop on someone’s conversation.” His deep voice snapped me out of my thoughts. Pfft! “Then maybe we should tell the landlord to stop being a cheapo and get actual walls instead of drywall.” I snarked. “What? You don’t enjoy the beautiful music being made by me and my friends?” he smirked. “Despise it actually. No record label would ever sign you or them.” Thankfully the elevator opened and I didn’t even wait for Mr McHottie to get another word in before I was through the doors and out in the parking lot speeding towards my car. My old beat up Honda was my baby that got me around wherever I wanted to go. She may be old but she does the job just fine. I sped out of the parking lot with my smoking hot neighbor staring at my speeding car peeling out of the lot.
