Chapter 26

Katherine I was approaching the door of our house when I heard someone knocking. I was about to leave and go to the company. The papers I needed to sign were piling up so I had to make an appearance in my office. When I opened the door, I was surprised to see my kind father and stepsister outside our house. Before I could even ask them what they needed from me, my father's strong hand hit my face. "How dare you slander us to Mr. Brixton, Katherine! Because of you and your good-for-nothing husband, Mr. Brixton stopped all cooperation of his company with the Harret Group!" my father confronted me, panting with anger. I put my hand on my cheek that he had slapped. It suddenly went numb from the force of his slap. It seemed he had used all his strength on my cheek. He really didn't restrain his strength when it came to hurting me. "Whatever Mr. Brixton's decision was, Axel and I had nothing to do with it, Alberto. Maybe he found out you're not a good person so he did that," I bravely replied to him. I'm not going to ask him how he found out our house address. He has a lot of money and can have his men find our house. "How could you say that and disrespect our dad, Katherine? Even if you don't live in our house anymore, you're still Daddy's daughter. You shouldn't talk to him like that," Lucy reprimanded me. She's really a plastic person. She pretends that she doesn't want me to speak badly about my father but the truth is, she's happy about it. Because our relationship as father and daughter is getting worse and she's the good daughter in Alberto's eyes. But I don't care if my relationship with my father will be completely ruined because it's been ruined for a long time. "I'm not her daughter, Lucy. Perhaps you've forgotten that I've severed any connection that binds us. You can have my worthless father by yourself." Lucy suddenly frowned when she heard what I said while my father's face became even angrier. "Ungrateful daughter! If it weren't for me, you wouldn't have been born into this world?" Alberto snarled. He raised his hand and was about to slap me again but I quickly caught his hand. I pushed him away from me forcefully. "I don't have time to argue with you for long," I said to him instead of dwelling on his accusations. "I'll repeat what I said, Alberto. Whatever Mr. Brixton's decision was, my husband and I had nothing to do with it. So don't come here anymore because I don't want to see your faces." "Huh! If you didn't tell your husband that I kicked you and your slutty mother out, how would Mr. Brixton know about that? Your poor husband must have told him what happened." Alberto gave me an accusing look. My head heated up when I heard Alberto's insult to my mom. I grabbed the flower pot on the shelf and threw it in front of him. He and Lucy were surprised by what I did so they backed away from me slightly. "The next time I hear you insult my Mom again, I'll throw the flower pot straight at your head. Did you hear me?" I snarled at Alberto, my face was so red with anger. I have no respect left for him. I didn't even take revenge on his family because I promised my mom but here he is bothering me. The next time he comes to me again, he shouldn't blame me if I take action against his family. I endured it for so long and now they have come to provoke me. They really don't know what is good for them. "How did you grow up with such an attitude, Katherine? I know you grew up without a mother so no one taught you good manners. But please don't treat Daddy like that because no matter what happens, he's still your father. It's your mom's fault that Daddy kicked her out. If she hadn't been a flirt and looked for another man—" I didn't let Lucy finish what she was going to say because I suddenly strangled her tightly. "You dare to speak badly about my mom, Lucy. You're just the daughter of Alberto's mistress. A mistress who after being satisfied by whoever man was lucky enough to find was a stupid man who was easily fooled by her." "Let her go, Katherine!" Alberto yelled at me. He was worried about Lucy because her tongue was hanging out and her face was slightly blackening because I was strangling her so tightly. "If you don't let her go, I'll do everything within my power to make your husband lose his job!" he threatened me. "I don't ever want to hear you speak badly about my mom again, Lucy. If I hear you insulting my mom again, I'll pull out your tongue and feed it to the dog," I sternly threatened her before I pushed her away from me. Lucy coughed and could hardly speak due to shortness of breath. "She's crazy! Katherine is crazy, Dad!" Lucy asked Alberto for help. But what can he do to me? He can't even get close to me. I just didn't expect him to hit me earlier, that's why he managed to slap me. "You're crazy, Katherine! Apologize to your sister right now!" Alberto shouted at me. He thought I would be afraid of him like before. Before, when he shouted, my mom and I both wanted to hide under the table out of fear. I don't even understand why my mom lasted so long living with a man like Alberto. Maybe I'm part of the reason why my mom didn't leave the Harret family and endured humiliation and physical abuse from her husband. My mom wanted me to have a family. But if I have a family like the Harrets, I would rather be alone. I raised my eyebrow and laughed slightly at what Alberto said. " I would apologize to that woman? She doesn't deserve my apology. And I didn't do anything wrong because I just gave her a lesson. That's what happens to people who have trash coming out of their mouths. She should be thankful that I didn't strangle her to death." Lucy was stomping her feet in annoyance. She didn't get what she wanted, which was for Alberto to punish me. When we were kids, she would make me do something wrong just so my father would scold and punish me. My biased father didn't care if I was the one at fault or not. What mattered was that Lucy's wish to punish me was fulfilled. I don't know what kind of spell she and her mother used to make Alberto that made him so obedient to them. "I'm telling you, Katherine. Go to Mr. Brixton's office now and apologize to him. Admit to him that everything you said about me is not true and beg him to continue our cooperation!" Alberto sternly ordered me. When he orders me, it's like he's a king and his words must be carried away. "Why should I do that, Alberto? What do I care about you? You deserve it," I replied to him with a smile. "How dare you! You really want to get hurt!" Alberto approached me and was about to slap me again. But I quickly kicked him in the stomach. He fell to the floor and Lucy immediately attended to him. "Dad! Katherine doesn't respect you anymore. You should teach her a lesson!" Lucy incited. Surely their annoyance with me is beyond the heavens. "You want to hurt me? In your dreams, Alberto!" I said to him with a raised eyebrow. I took out my cell phone and called the security guard. After a few minutes, two security guards arrived. "There are people causing trouble in front of my house, guard. I'm scared. They're threatening my life. Take them to the police station and investigate," I told the two guards. I pretended to be very scared. "How dare you report us, Katherine! You're the one who hurts us!" Lucy angrily pointed at me before turning to the guard. "Don't believe that woman, guard. She's the one who hurt me and my Dad! Arrest her and take her to the police station!" Instead of following Lucy's order, the security guard approached her and grabbed her arm. The other security guard grabbed Alberto. "We're just following the people who live in this subdivision and who pay our salary. The two of you are causing trouble so come with us to the police station," the guard said in a stern voice before pulling the two away from me. The two just gave me a sharp look and had no choice but to go with the two security guards. "Don't blame me for being rude and ruthless, Alberto. You're the one who made me like this," I said when the two were no longer in front of me.
