Chapter 13

Katherine We came out of Miguel’s room and went to the living room. I was surprised when he suddenly pressed a portrait of a large bird hanging on the wall of his living room and a door suddenly opened. No one would ever find his secret room because there’s no way to open it except by pressing the portrait on the wall. But who would have thought that the portrait, which looked so ordinary, was actually the door to his secret room? “Wow! This is the first time I’ve seen a portrait of a large bird that turns out to be a door when you press it hard. Who would have thought your living room had a door leading to another room, Miguel?” I pretended to be amazed. But I said it loudly so my superior and fellow special agents would know the location of the secret room and how to open it. "Are you surprised?" Miguel asked me with a grin. But his smile was now different. There was a mix of excitement and eagerness. He was excited and eager to torture me. I quickly nodded at him and pretended not to notice any changes in his behavior and appearance. "You'll be even happier once you're inside. Let's go." "Let's go!" I said to him with a smile. But it wasn't for him, it was for my companions outside his house. That was my signal for them to enter Miguel's house. I didn't need to go all the way into the room to make sure it was the secret room my superior mentioned. Because as soon as the door opened, I immediately smelled the strong scent of blood coming from inside the room. As soon as we entered the secret room, the door immediately closed. My stomach wanted to turn because the smell inside was even more foul. Only Miguel enjoyed the smell inside his secret room. "Welcome to my heaven, Erika," Miguel shouted loudly with both hands raised. This time, he no longer hid the devilish grin on his face from me. But I did not show any fear towards him. Instead, I approached the various torture tools he had used on his victims. "Aren't you afraid, Erika? On that bed is where you'll lie while I torture you with the tools you see around you." I smiled at Miguel and shook my head. "I'm not afraid, Miguel. In fact, I'm happy that you brought me to your secret room." The smile on Miguel's lips suddenly disappeared when he heard what I said. "What do you mean? Why aren't you afraid of what I can do to you? Do you think you can get out of this room alive? For your information, Erika. All the women who entered this room never got out alive," he said with pride in his voice. From my observation, Miguel has a mental illness. Maybe his congressman father doesn't have him treated even though they have a lot of money because he's afraid that if Miguel's illness is exposed, the horrifying and inhumane things he does will also be revealed. If that happens, his father will surely have no political career to return to. "I'm not afraid because I know I can still get out of this room alive, Miguel. And I assure you, you'll end up in a mental hospital," I answered Miguel confidently. It seemed my words angered him, so he suddenly grabbed a rusty knife and with wide eyes, lunged at me to stab. But I was prepared for any attack he might make, so I quickly dodged and gave him a strong kick between his thighs. Miguel fell to his knees on the floor, groaning in pain. Suddenly, the door to the secret room opened and special agents led by our superior entered the secret room. Miguel was immediately handcuffed and taken out of the room. Now, he can't escape the law anymore even if his father uses money and influence. The evidence we gathered against him is solid so there's no way out for him now. "You mentioned how to open the door of the secret room, so those secret agents will know how to open it?" Miguel hissed at me. Pain was still evident in his eyes. "You're not as dumb as I think, Miguel. And when I said "let's go," that's the signal I sent to them to enter your house," I answered him. He struggled and tried to get away from the two special agents holding him but he failed. He just shot me a deadly look while my fellow agents were dragging him out of the secret room. "Congratulations on a job well done, Agent Blue! You're really the best secret special agent that we have," my superior, General Baldwin Herrera, praised me with a smile. I could feel the pride in his voice for me. "Thank you, Sir," I replied to him with a smile. "My mission was successful this time, so maybe I could take a leave, even just for a month, Sir. I'm married now and my husband also needs my time." "Your mission before failed but you successfully found a husband." My superior shook his head as he remembered my failed mission which became the reason why I suddenly got married. "Alright. I grant you a one-month leave so you and your husband can cultivate your feelings." He shook his head again before turning around and leaving Miguel's secret room. For me, my current mission is the easiest among all the missions I have had. But if I hadn’t been careful, I could have ended up like the women who became victims of Miguel. Now, the souls of his victims can finally rest in peace because the one who killed them will pay for his crimes according to the law. After my successful mission, I immediately went home. I was glad to find out that Axel was not yet home. Maybe his boss made him work overtime. And he couldn’t refuse because his salary is high. I quickly took a shower and then went to the kitchen to cook food for dinner. But even after I finished cooking, Axel still hadn’t come home. I decided to go to the shop where he works. I just took a taxi to Axel's workplace. I didn't need to call him and ask where his shop was because I heard from my stepsister that Axel works at Casa De Tire. And there is only one Casa De Tire in the country, which is owned by the AB Empire company. When I arrived in front of Casa De Tire, it was already closed. Axel's workplace was closed, but why hasn't he come home yet? I just sighed before walking towards the taxi stand. Near Casa De Tire is the large and tall building of the AB Empire. This is the biggest and most successful company in the country. It covers almost every industry and also has many subsidiaries in the country. AB Empire and the Handford Group have clashed several times. Sometimes we lose in bidding, and sometimes it's the AB Empire. But not once have I seen the CEO of AB Empire, Axel Brixton. I was momentarily stunned when I noticed that the CEO of AB Empire had the same first and last name as my husband. Could it be that Axel and the CEO... I shook my head vigorously to get rid of the idea that had entered my mind. That's impossible. Many people share the same first and last names. Besides, Lucy herself saw Axel fixing a broken car. That alone proves that what suddenly came to my mind is impossible. Axel couldn't be the CEO of the AB Empire.
