----Fate---- ***Sophia's POV*** As I entered the house and locked myself in, I fell to my knees.  My head felt like it was splitting in half.  Who was telling me to run and why did it feel like no fear that I’ve ever felt before? Frustrated, I pounded the ground and let out a whimper.  Why couldn't I remember anything before Lanie and her mother took me in?  It felt like a pitch black corridor that I tried to claw my way through.   Looking down, I realized my clothing was covered in dirt and leaves.  I also remembered that my blouse was still ripped and Arsen’s jacket was still over me.  An icy chill travelled down my spine as I relived what happened.  The desperate need to get out of these clothes and wash those disgusting men’s touches away overcame all of my thoughts as I picked myself up off of the floor. I slowly undressed and got into the shower, sitting down as I quietly sobbed, letting the shower water wash away my tears and the memory of what happened in that forest.   I perked up, hearing a door close as my body froze in fear.  It couldn’t have been the men, right?  Arsen killed them!  Oh no, what if it’s Arsen deciding that he wanted to kill me too to cover up any evidence? My mind raced and my heart pounded until I heard someone call my name. “Sophia?  Are you in the shower?” I took a deep breath as I recognized the voice.  I silently scolded myself for being so skittish. “Lanie!  I’m in the shower.”  I tried to make my voice as calm as I could.  I didn't sound convincing at all. "You sound like you've seen a ghost.  Are you okay?  You ran so quickly earlier and you also missed work."  There it was, the older sister who was concerned but always needed to make sure to point out something I did wrong.  I sighed. "I'm fine.  I'm fine."  I turned the water off and got out, getting dressed. My eyes were puffy and Lanie immediately noticed.   "Have you been crying?  What happened? What's wrong?"  Her eyes filled with concern before they landed on Arsen's jacket on my bed. "You… you didn't have a guy in here, did you?!"   "No!  No, it's nothing like that."  I looked down, gripping my arm at my elbow with my other hand. "Then, what is it?"  Lanie questioned. Tears filled my eyes as I sniffled.   "I was attacked." "By the man who owns this jacket?!  Who is he?  Where is he?  I'm going to kill him!"  Lanie raged. "No,  it wasn't him.  He saved me.  The men…"  I paused before the tears came down in a deluge. "The men are dead!  The guy killed them and gave me his jacket to cover up because they ripped my blouse." A hushed gasp came over Lanie as her eyes filled with tears as well. "Sophia, I'm so, so sorry.  Oh my goddess, I can't even imagine.  I knew there were a lot of disappearances of women lately, but my sister.  Oh goddess."  Lanie wrapped her arms around me, hugging me tightly. "Shh, it's okay.  It's over now."  Lanie rubbed my back as I cried harder. She held me close for what seemed to be forever until I calmed down.  Looking into her crystal blue eyes brought me some comfort. "Do you want me to stay here tonight?  I can get Mother and we can take care of you tonight.  Just please relax."  Lanie soothed and I nodded. "Okay.  That sounds good."  I smiled a little. "Sis, do you know who saved you?  That name brand on that jacket isn't cheap."   "He said his name was Arsen.  Arsen Evermoon.  Lanie, I don't know why but that name, Evermoon, makes me want to run away as quickly as I can."  I pouted. Lanie's eyes flickered with some sort of recollection.  "Evermoon… as the Evermoon group… THE most powerful, bloodthirsty group of people?" "He didn't seem very blood thirsty.  He seemed very sweet and kind.  He also was pretty handsome."  I let out a soft giggle. "SOPHIA MARIE LOCKHEARTE!" Lanie gasped.  "You're not allowed to date until you're 50 years old!"   "Laaaanieeee!!" I whimpered.  "Not fair!  I should be able to date too!" "Mother is going to agree with me on this!  Speaking of which, I'm going to get her right now.  Give me a half an hour!"  Lanie kissed my forehead in a sisterly fashion before she went to the door. "No dating until I'm dead!"  She threatened before leaving my home. I shook my head and laughed.  She would probably blow a gasket if I actually had a boyfriend.  It was amusing to say the least. Half an hour later, Lanie returned with our mother.  Time hadn't treated her kindly as she relied completely on her cane to move.  She always kept herself prim with nice fitting dresses and her hair always up in a bun.   I ran over to help her in and get her settled on a couch.  The look of contemplation on her face made me think that Lanie probably filled her in on what happened on the way over. “My child.”  Mother started to say. “Yes, Momma?”  I replied. “Come here.  Let me hug you.  I’m so sorry you had to go through something that traumatic.”  Her eyes looked up into mine.  Cataracts clouded over her beautiful green eyes as I felt a twinge of sadness at how time treated her.  I went over and hugged her tightly. “I heard you were saved by an Evermoon boy.  Stay away from the Evermoons.  They will do nothing but cause you pain or worse.”  Mother warned as she stroked my hair.  I instantly relaxed at the gesture. “But Momma, he seemed so friendly and sweet.  Like he wouldn’t hurt me.”  I protested. “This is for your own good.  Stay away from them.”  Her tone was firm and it caused me to flinch. “Yes, Momma.”  Mother kept me company while Lanie bustled away in the kitchen to make dinner.  Night fell after we finished eating and cleaning up.  I felt safe having both of them with me for the night.  I nestled into my pillows and quickly fell asleep.
