Chapter 5

The next morning.

I woke up to the disturbing sound of Wade. He was disturbing me to wake up and feed him.

I yawned lazily on the bed and turned to the other side of the bed, picked up my phone, and checked the time.

It was 9 am.

I stood up immediately no wonder he resulted in waking me up himself.

Back home my alarm would have woken me up as early as 6 then I would prepare breakfast for my son before him ready for school and also getting myself ready for work.

It was a daily routine only Sundays were excluded for movie days or I just took him to the park.

But since there was no alarm to wake me up because I wasn't going to work I slept like a baby and what added to it was the fact that I was really tired yesterday considering the time I slept.

I immediately took Wade up in my arms and apologized.

"I'm so sorry baby mommy was just so tired," I said ruffling his hair and leading him to the shower to have his bath.

Soon he was bathing and I got him dressed before getting him ready and placed him on the bed before going to get my bath so I could go and prepare breakfast for him.

Soon I was also done bathing and I held him in my hands before going downstairs and making my way to the kitchen to make breakfast for me and my son.

As soon as I got to the dining room the whole pack was sitting down and having breakfast including Alpha Dax.

It has been a long time since I had breakfast with my pack.

I mean I left for about six years and talking to them alone is very awkward now not to talk of eating at the same table with them.

So it would be better if I just focused on what I came here to do and maintain all relationships the way they were.

I acted like I didn't see them and walked into the kitchen with Wade on my mind.

I placed him down on the cupboard and started making him some golden morn. Because he really appreciated cereal for breakfast.

Soon his breakfast was ready so I carried it, in one hand, carrying him on the other making it back to our room so I could feed him peacefully.

Another reason that I wouldn't appreciate sitting down with Everyone was because of the pandemic,u wasn't sure if it was highly contagious and could be life claiming I wanted to make sure my child was safe at all cost.

Speaking of the pandemic I would have to go to the city of San to help with the administering of drugs and treating patients in critical positions.

As I passed the dining room I heard someone call out to me.

"Why can't you come eat with us?" he said out.

It was Alpha Dax. There was no one who would have such pride to call me back.

I took a deep breath and turned back.

Hearing his voice gave me an unusual voice making my hand shiver so I held Wade tightly in my arms so he wouldn't fall down.

Wade kept on playing with my hair, shoving them into my ears and I struggled to release my hair from his grip.

"No thank you, he prefers to eat in a quiet place. I'll just feed him upstairs in our room and I don't want to be a bother to anyone so please let me go. "I said and started walking.

"Are you trying to say we are rowdy? Because that seems to be what you are insinuating," he asked in a husk voice.

"Yes I'm trying to say you are rowdy can't you just leave me alone and let me be it's not by force after all for me to stay down to eat here I don't find it comfortable, "I muttered to myself as I wouldn't dare say it out loud.

"No that's not what I meant at all," I said explaining.

"Let her go she knows what is best for her child." My elder cousin Beatrice said.

"Thanks for understanding me, "I said and walked hurriedly away.

I got into the room and started feeding Wade who was already really tired and hungry that he ate so fast and later took possession of his spoon because I wasn't meeting up to his fast pace of eating.

"Mom, aren't you going to eat?" he said, pushing a spoon of his food into my mouth.

"Thanks, baby mommy has to go to work very soon so she'll eat there, "I said making sure he ate his food finish without spilling any on his dress.

"Mommy where will I be when you go to work? Am I going with you to work?" he said in an excited voice. He had always loved going along with me to the hospital but I can't afford to take him anywhere in this pandemic it's too much risk and I don't have the mind to take such actions.

"No you would be your aunt, she'll take care of you. Mommy can't take you because it's a little dangerous at the hospital okay?"I said placing a lot of toys on the bed for him to play with before his aunt came.

"Okay mommy," he said, picking up a toy.

"Be a good boy to Aunty okay? Because if I get reports that you were a naughty boy I won't take you around like I promised."I said in a serious tone so he knows I'm not joking.

"Okay mommy I would be a good boy to aunty. Don't forget you would take me around this place during the weekend and buy me candy to remind you of your promised mommy," he said and diverted his whole attention to his toys.

I scuffled his hair, picked up my bag, and left the room.

As I was downstairs to go to the city, I met Alice.

"It's a good thing you are here Wade is upstairs playing please do not take him out of his room," I said in a strict but pleading voice.

"I understand Becca, take care of yourself. I would take care of Wade just like he is my own son so you don't have to worry about anything. Take care at work, make sure you try your best to help us, and don't forget to bring some painkillers for your mom." she said in a reassuring voice.

So I boarded a taxi to the hospital.

Little did I know someone has been staring at me all day long.

At the hospital.

The hospital was very busy as people kept on rushing in with patients and the reception was full with family members either requiring to see their loved ones or to check in with their loved ones which made the hospital a bit rowdy but still very neat for some reasons.

A lot of people were really suffering from the pandemic coughing like there was no tomorrow.

I was putting on a sanitized cloth and mask to avoid contracting the virus if it was transmittable but I believe it was through water or food they were all buying because some family members that keep on treating their loved ones who were suffering from the virus were perfectly Hale and hearty and once I interrogated a girl whose brother was suffering from the pandemic wasn't affected and she stated she was a vegetarian so she didn't eat the town meat in which her brother and other people buy and eat.

So my thinking is that maybe it's something about the meat being infected or so because this virus has a different mode of transmission and it's not through contact with an infected person or exchange of fluids with an infected person like other pandemic cases which was a real nutcase to c***k and soon because it has affected my mom and none of their doctors are able to cure this so I might be their only chance of survival and I needed to fix this because it could also affect the members of my pack.

"Ma'am your attention is needed in the lab." the nurse said, leading me into the lab.

The owner of the central hospital was addressing all the doctors about the pandemic.

"So as we all know that there has been an outrageous outbreak over some months now with no certain cure and this has been a huge threat to everyone. Firstly, let's welcome a new doctor among us who came all the way to help us solve this problem. We really appreciate you coming down here to contribute to this. We really need your help at this point and we hope we can all solve this collectively. Let us give Miss Becca a round of applause."

I waved to everyone to indicate I was miss Becca although most of them knew me already.

All the doctors present continued clapping for about 2 minutes welcoming me into their midst and when they were through it was finally time for us to get down to business.

"So are there any ideas for what might have caused this pandemic because we can't actually see if it is contagious or not so can I hear your findings?" he asked everybody and the lab roared with everyone trying to discuss the pandemic together.

"so I believe this is just like every normal pandemic that has happened across the board contact list and has a different mode of transmission but I believe is just normal probably from the saliva of a person or probably close contact with the person just like HIV"Miss Bella add an event to streaks consigning with the lab and its findings.

Most of the doctors also agreed and contributed to that same motion because they believe that the virus is contagious.

gave my suggestion.

"In my opinion, being busy is different on a totally different level.

If this virus were to be contagious and trust me to know that but I believe it's not because if it were to be why haven't some family members that take care of the infected patients not gotten the virus?

I believe this is contracted by or from meals that the infected people consume.

Factors like proteins such as meat, chicken, beef, sausage, and pork and all sorts of proteins and factors so I strongly disbelieve that this is a normal virus transmitted by fluids and contact."I said and the whole lab fell quiet and then into murmurs between the doctors.
