Chapter 4

"I left you is not a very nice way to put it. I prefer you saying I had other plans"He said maintaining his distance while I also maintained my distance from the lake as it was ice cold I was so glad someone could say something to stop me because I wasn't thinking straight thinking of dipping just my leg or any other part of my body. I was angry that he was talking to me after everything. The same man who had a night with me and left me to raise a child alone. I barely got a look of his face, and I had to take care of our child alone. Did he even care about all these? "Then what else did you do? you obviously left me. Had a night and left before the next morning that was so uncalled for. Did you try to run away from responsibility? that wasn't the way to do it. I searched for you I really did."I said walking towards him to see the father of my child who I hadn't seen in years. His expression got me more annoyed, his face was as plain as hell. He barely said anything and whenever he did it was short and simple. I was expecting an apology or more but he acted like he was reserving his words or so. Was that why he was referred to as a cold Alpha? "I had my reasons back then and I can't actually explain everything to you right now because you might not understand and it's very long and complicated and which responsibility did I probably run away from?" he said in a confused voice. "You have a child with me and you would have known that if you at least stayed till the next morning before leaving me to whatever fate had to offer. You left me without a letter or anything. I find that very cruel and unreasonable."I said in a calm voice but it was obvious that I was annoyed. "I have a child? with you? Are you being serious about that? why didn't you look for me then?" he said looking directly into my eyes like he was searching for something. "Yes you do, a son for that matter, he's so cute and so smart and he's the perfect child anyone could ever wish for. I looked for you but I didn't find you. I tried till I gave up. You could have been anywhere. I couldn't really remember your face, your voice was the only way, "I said, bursting out in tears. I immediately wiped off my tears because I had promised myself that I wouldn't let anyone see me cry. With everything happening around me and my mom's sickness and the pandemic and finding out the man that left me some years ago after a night was the new alpha of my pack. Like things couldn't get any more complicated. Although I was happy that my son now had a father and I was sure he was alive, an alpha for that but still I was sad I had to take care of him all by myself all this while. "I didn't mean to leave you with a child to take care of all by yourself but I had my reasons that are best understood by me so I had to leave the next morning I wasn't trying to run away from any responsibility I didn't even know that you were pregnant I am not irresponsible to reject a son," he said in a plain voice which got me more annoyed. "Whatever you say won't change the fact that you left me to raise a child," I said in a time of disappointment. "What's actually the big deal? Because we weren't dating then it was just an unpredictable reflex action. It's not like we both really planned it so you didn't expect me to know that it would result in a whole child." he said in his defense. "Just stop talking okay, there's already a lot going on that I don't need anymore, "I said, ending sez conversation on that topic. "So because you were stressed out you wanted to jump into the lake? Did you intend on killing those innocent fishes or did you intend on killing yourself? The lake is actually deeper than before. Next time you plan to do such make sure you know where you are pulling such a stunt." he said in a husk voice. I scoffed and made to leave the area after picking up my shoes. I passed by him and was about to pass him when he dragged me back. "Hope it didn't Skip your mind that I am still the Alpha of this pack so respect is one thing," he said leaving my hand and leaving the area before me. "Such a man he is," I muttered out after he left. I finally left with mixed feelings. I didn't quite know if I should be happy or sad when I found him. At least I would be able to tell Wade that he's Father is back and the leader of this pack but that looks more presentable. I found Wade playing alone with some toys alone in the room. I didn't want him to play with other kids because of the pandemic because who doesn't know who is infected and who is not and I wasn't going to take risks with my son. I was here to provide a solution and treat everyone but I wasn't going to let my son get infected just because I want to help someone else. I went over to Wade who immediately ran to meet me. "Mommy what's wrong with Grandma she was sleeping on a bed," he asked in his adorable baby voice. "Grandma is sick, that's why I am here to make sure grandma is finally okay," I said, running his little hands in mine. "Mom, why don't I have anyone to play with because if people are dying?" he asked, standing up to face me. I pressed his hands tightly in mine, he wasn't supposed to know that people are dying or anything related to that he must have probably heard it from someone. I just didn't want him to think that he was going to die or something because this pandemic was really scary and if it gets worse I might have to send him back because it might not be very safe for him since we don't know the mode of transmission just yet. I brought him down from the bed and cleared his toys. I took him to the bathroom and gave him a quick bath before wearing his pajamas. After that I placed him back on the ws and rubbed his tiny hands on my face to comfort me because I was really going through a lot and seeing him by my side was everything. How do I tell him that his dad is here and he's an Alpha? Maybe it was going to be better if I didn't say anything about him now and waited till things die down with my mom. After making sure that he was asleep I left him and went to check on my mom. I slowly closed the door so he wouldn't wake up. After that, I went through the passage and made my way to my mom's room where I heard someone having a conversation with my mother. "Are you sure this daughter of yours will be able to cure this virus that threatens the life of everyone because many have tried and failed? What makes you think she would be successful?" a familiar voice said out. It was him! That was a voice I would never forget no matter the circumstances. Immediately I walked in to answer the question. "I will be successful because I am qualified and besides it's not like you guys have any other option. You were out of options that was why you called me so I don't think beggars can be choosers." I said walking to my mom to check how she was staring. I brought out the stethoscope from my pocket and placed them on her chest. Her heartbeat was a little stable today which made me relaxed and happy. "She needs rest now, please excuse her, "I said ushering him out, coming out along with him too as I locked the door behind me and made to leave, noticing his gaze on me. "Can I see my son?" he asked in a calm face. "He's sleeping probably tomorrow and doesn't tell him anything about you being his father yet I want to tell him myself, "I said and made to leave my room but I heard his voice at my back. "Are you sure you can cure the pandemic? You don't look like a professional to me," he said in a cold voice. "Yes I can and I am a professional and unlike you, I won't run away from responsibility," I said and turned to leave. I noticed the smile on his face when I made the statement and I smiled too after entering the room. "Why the hell are you smiling Becca it's weird," I said to myself before going to have a light shower and join Wade on the bed. After taking my shower I slid into my PJs and went to sleep. I wasn't quite sleepy yet so I just rested my head on the pillow thinking about Alpha day and he being my actual mate. I wasn't so sure yet but there was this feeling whenever I was beside him, one I never felt before even when I was still with another person. The feeling I felt when we were intimate that night, he was so warm and comfortable that his scent lived rent-free in my head. I had a feeling he was my mate just wasn't sure if u was happy about it. He was an alpha now that was a good thing but I wasn't quite sure if he would be the best father to my son. Although he didn't look all friendly, I heard it was because his family was killed. Anyone would have reacted to that. I just wasn't sure of his reaction or talk around him and I just hoped everything was going to be alright from now on starting with my mom. I looked over to Wade and gently brushed his hair. He was the key evident reason I kept on surviving because I wanted to see him hall by all means possible. He was so smart and kind at his age and he gave me the type of company I wanted and with him, by my side, I never felt lonely. Wade was actually a very smart kid because he obviously knew I didn't like talking about his father so he didn't bother to ask about him. He would feed me and make sure I had enough rest after work. He would even massaging my legs every night just to make sure I was well-rested and fit for the next day. He was that little angel the moon goddess sent to me. To think of it he actually had a striking resemblance with his dad. From the nose to his face and to his hair they both looked alike. But was there they a chance that we would still be able to come back together I mean it's been quite a whole and I am not sure of the feelings I had for him but since that would actually make my son very happy to have his two parents together to raise him up I would do everything possible to make that happen. I finally decided to sleep, placing Wade's head on my chest and patting his back. Everything was going to be okay. I reassured myself about that even though I wasn't exactly sure but I just had to be possible. With that, I slept off.
