The Odd Mate

Chapter 4

    Ten minutes later we arrived at the woods line near my house. I could smell dinner being made. Which then mine and Leigh's stomach started to growl. I giggled as I looked out the corner of my eye at him and saw him grumbling to himself.   

    "Lets hurry I am sure its about done." I said to him as I let go of his hand and dash off to the house. 

    My hand felt cold moments after letting go of Leigh's hand. I heard him behind me starting to catch up to me. I quicken my speed to beat him  to the house. As I reached the steps I felt strong arms wrap around my waist then lifted me.

    "I win." Leigh said as eh walked up the steps.

    "Hey! That's so cheating." I said squirming around in his arms.

    "No one aid anything about rules." he said with a smirk as he put me down.

    I grumbled as I pushed open the front door and had more of dinner smell hit my nose. roast with mashed potatoes, corn , homemade bread, and more fruit is sitting on the dining table as we walked into the dinning room.

    "Who made dinner?" I asked as I saw everyone sitting at the table.

    "I did." Faith said with a smile.

    "It looks and smells amazingly Faith." I said taking my usual seat.

    "Thank you Ivy." she said as her smile got wider.

    I smiled back at her before putting food on my plate. Everyone got food on their plate after I did. It was a bit quiet as we ate but the quietness didn't feel weird or uncomfortable. As we got close to finishing our food I felt eyes on me. I slowly glanced up and saw Leigh looking at me with a smile which made me blush and cause me to excuse myself. I grabbed my plate and head to kitchen and place my plate in the sink. Before turning I felt my mom's presence. I turned to look at her and saw the look on face saying "I saw that moment" expression.

    "Hey mom." i said sheepishly.

    "Ivy shall we go for a walk in the garden?" she asked as she walked over to the sink and setting her plate into the sink.

    "Sure." I said softly smiling to her.

    We walked over to the sliding glass door that leads our to our backyard and garden. My mom lead the way. I followed behind her for a moment before we reached the garden then I got beside her. As we entered the garden I felt myself quickly relax and smile as I looked around. The garden my mom and I have worked on since the day I could walk on my own and hold a tool. I reached for my mom's hand as we approached the weeping willow in the center of our garden.

    We walked to the bench and sat down. I rested my head on her shoulder as we stare our at the garden. She stayed quiet for a moment and rubbed the back of my hand.

    "So what happened earlier?" my mom finally asked breaking the silence.

    "Well after John introduced his kids I smelt mint and lemon. It some how was coming from all three boys.When I looked at each one Lulu reacted differently. Jeff and Andre she was confused and submissive but with Leigh she was excited and confused. Lulu couldn't quite figure who was our mate. After you, dad, Faith and John went inside I let Aster know I was going for a run and meet with Ronnie at secret place to think . After talking to Ronnie and Lulu for a bit Leigh and Aster showed up. I was confused on why then I knew it was him. Lulu was able to know Leigh is our mate. Do you Know why Leigh's eyes are silver?" I asked at the end of my speech and looking to her curiously.
