The Odd Mate

Chapter 5

    My mom didn't respond and I am starting to get worried. I just look at her with pleading eyes to answer my but shoe wouldn't look at me. She looked zoned out and knew she was mind-linking someone. I looked away sighing. I turned my attention to the Night Gladiolus we planted couple months ago. We wanted something that blooms at night so if we came out at night we had something to look at. The Night Gladiolus bloom into black edges and red wine inside of the flowers. The are one of the few darker color flowers we planted in our garden. The garden is pretty much my mom's and my safe place when we want mother and daughter time together. It helps keep ourselves calm with the Alpha duties of our pack.

    "Hey princess." I heard my dad say softly.

    I turned my attention towards my dad and saw Faith, John and Leigh standing by him. I looked at them confused. My dad approached me and hugged me tightly . I hugged him back and pulled back to look at him.

    "What's going on?" I asked him with raised eyebrow.

    "It seems we need to explain a few things to you."my dad said as he placed a hand against my cheek like he always does whenever he and mom had something serious to talk about with me.

    "But its something Faith and I have to say." John said walking over to us.

    I nod my head but as I was about to say something Gus our beta yelled rogues over the mind-link. My dad, mom and I jumped up quickly. I dashed off towards the pack house to be sure all women with kids and anyone who can't fight get to the sage house under the pack house.

    "Everyone in?" I asked Seth a teen who helps keep those in the safe house safe.

    "Yes Ivy." Seth said after closing the safe doors and making sure its secure.

    "Good. Call if anyone comes near and you can't handle it alone>" I said to him before taking off and shifting in midair.

I quickly ran to the forest line and started to do premieter checks. Most warriors were in the foods fighting off rogues. Dad made Aster and I to walk the forest line to be sure no rogues go pass anyone. We have handful of warriors on stand by in case any get through our forest. As I am checking the area I cold hear the fights happening in the forest. As I start to make my way back to the pack house I felt tinge in my hear, which meant someone in our pack was killed. I held back a howl so I don't alert anyone to me.

    Before I started to walk again I got tackled to the ground. I quickly pushed whoever it was on me off. As I got back on my paws I saw a rogue growling at me. I growled back and took my Alpha stance. The rogue came running at me and tried going for my neck but I quickly moved and grabbed the rogue's tail and pulled them towards the woods. I felt them struggling. As I got close to the woods another rogue attacked me causing me to let go of the other rogue's tail. I growled louder and got myself back up.

    "Aster north side of the pack house. Two rogues on me." I said to him through mind-link.

    "On my way." He said rather quickly.

    I watched the two rogues on me. They came charging at me. I dodged them as quickly as I could. They kept attacking but I would dodge and nip at them just only to distract them. The first rogue that attacked me. I noticed is light brown and with hazel eyes while the second one is black with green eyes. The black fur rogue came running at me alone. I dodge him but didn't see the other one charging right me. I got ready for the hit but nothing hit me and I heard a loud thud. I looked to see what happened and saw a fox running around the trees and easily dodging the light brown wolf. I quickly shook my head and put my attention to the black wolf.

    I growled and charged at the wolf. My head connected with the other wolf's side. I managed to to knock the wolf over. I quickly make my way over to the wolf and place a paw on its neck then started to push down on its neck gorwling at it to shift. It started to growl and squirm unerneath m. I push down harder and growled more. As I narrowed my eyes at it I saw it finally submit and shift. After it shifted into its human form I backed up a bit.

    "Ivy go change." I heard Aster say from beside me.

    "You sure?" I asked through the mindlink.

    Aster nodded as he tossed an over size shirt at me. I took it in my mouth and got behind a tree then shifted. I quickly put on the shirt and walked back to Aster and the rogue. I noticed the rogue is a teenage boy and he looks a bit scared.

    "Who sent you?" i asked him in my Alpha tone.

    "My Master." He said in shaky voice.

    "Why?" Aster asked this time as he kneeled down to the boys level.

    "He is after the one with the silver eyes." the teen said backing up into the tree.

    I gasped then looked to Aster. "Take him to the dungeon." I said before heading towards the pack house first.
