19 YEARS AGO Unknown POV "I have to run, I have to keep the child safe" I thought as I ran through the woods. I just kept running I had no Idea where I was going but I kept running knowing that if I stop I might be caught. After running for several hours I had to stop,I was so tired and running with a baby wasn't easy.I was scared,the spell my sister put on the child would wear off at anytime,i wasn't a very strong elf if it wore off anytime soon the baby would begin to cry which would make us easier to find. My sister, mother and many others in our land must've been killed now, we were invaded by werewolves. When the attack started my sister tied the baby with a cloth and gave her to me and told me to run,which was why I was here. I am so confused and I don't know what to do. My sister had been warned not to get involved with werewolves but she didn't listen now look at the results.We were elves, my sister and I were princess; part of the Royal Family.I was calm and obedient but my sister on the other hand was the exact opposite, she was disobedient and always breaking the rules. She had fallen in love with the Alpha of a werewolf pack and they became lovers. When our mother found out she warned her not to get in love with werewolves because not only were they violent creatures but they also had mates, mom warned her that the moment he found his mate he would abandon her but she didn't listen and that was eventually what happened,by then my sister was already pregnant.The Alpha told her that all that happened between them was a mistake and he didn't want anything to do with her. He also told her to get rid of the Child because he wasn't going to father an elf. Heartbroken, my sister returned home permanently gave birth to her child and we didn't hear from him since then which was about a year ago,so this sudden attack was something I didn't understand. Now I couldn't do anything else but cry, I was so confused. "Moon goddess please help me keep this innocent child safe"i whispered looking up to the sky.And began moving, after a few hours i crossed a river. I felt like I had gone far enough so I drank some water and decided to rest by a tree. "Who are you and what are you doing on our land" a man growled I looked up to see two men standing above me "I'm so sorry, I'm lost I didn't know this was your land"I shuddered The older man's eyes softened when he looked and saw that I was carrying a baby "The child with you has werewolf blood but you're an elf, you will have to come with us to the pack for interrogation" he said We then heard a twig snap and I looked saw several feral looking wolves, Immediately knew they were rogue wolves. I stood up and took a defensive stance as they kept coming closer, I put the child on a tree and prepared to defend myself. A wolf lunged itself at me and I dodged, I used my magic to suffocate the wolf to death. After killing 2 more I heard a loud cry , I then realized that the child was awake, and I wasn't the only one who was aware of this fact. "s**t"I hissed One of the rouges was advancing towards the baby and the warriors with me were occupied,I then created a force field around her to keep her safe, a rouge wolf capitalized on this distraction and attacked I felt it claw at my chest a shrill cry escaped me as I feel to the ground still using my energy to keep the force field up. One of the wolves rushed to my side and attacked the rouge. Soon several howls could be heard signalling that more pack wolves were here.Knowing this is remaining rouges started to retreat. Immediately the older of the men had shifted back to human form and was at my side "Don't worry about me I've a lot of blood and all my energy is drained..... I know you're a good person please protect the child, promise me" I sputtered . "Her name is Avery" "I promise" he stated I was happy knowing I could rest because the moon goddess answered me. PRESENT DAY "Avery are you still awake" "Yes" "I can't sleep" "Your humming kinda gave that away" "oh, what are your thoughts on mates" "I don't know,meeting one's mate is usually a thing of joy so it's good I guess, why the question" "Nothing really the thought of finding one's soulmate is so beautiful and I can't wait for Axel to be confirmed as mine" "Why are you so sure he is your mate though" I asked suddenly irked by the idea "I just know it, plus my mom said we were always close as children so everyone knew we would definitely be mates, and I mean look at it, he's the Alpha's son and I'm one of the strongest females in the pack not to mention being a beta's daughter" she bragged "His mate could be from another pack though" I replied "What are you even saying? Don't worry when the Alpha returns you'll see" she stated "Yeah I guess but I personally won't want a high ranking mate, they're too bossy" I said "Of course you'd say something like that" she replied with a laugh "Well enough talk let's get some sleep,I didn't meet my mate when I turned 18 which means he's most likely not in this pack so it's not like I'm meeting my mate any time soon" "You never know" she replied in a singsong voice "Goodnight Claire" "Goodnight Ave" As I stared at the ceiling I couldn't help but wonder what the future had in store for me.
