chapter 1
If I ever had to kill someone...
No, I wouldn’t shoot them.
Not a knife either.
I’d throw them into acid.
Slowly. Carefully.
I’d leave them in there until even the bones dissolve.
Then I’d pour the leftovers down a sewer.
No body. No evidence. No witnesses.
I snapped out of my weird little crime fantasy when the voice of my GPS lady cut through my thoughts.
She’s not just any voice—her name is Manijeh. Yeah, I named her.
Manijeh: Turn left in 100 meters.
Me: You got it, babe! Lead the way!
Nava (rolling her eyes): Are you seriously flirting with a GPS?
Me: Excuse you! If it weren’t for her, we’d still be stuck at the wrong corner!
Nava: I honestly question if you even have a brain. Like, even a basic-level IQ?
Me: I’m sorry I wasn’t born with a built-in navigation system, okay? Manijeh is the only reason I ever make it anywhere!
Manijeh: You have reached your destination.
Me: Ugh, I love you so much, queen. Mwah!
— Now where do I even park?
Nava: Don’t tell me Manijeh doesn’t do parking too?
Me: Nope. That’s when our eyeballs are supposed to kick in!
After circling a few times, we finally found a spot. We jumped out, and I glanced at the time.
— Hurry up, Nava! We’ve got five minutes!
We rushed toward the building just as the professor was about to enter the class.
— Good morning, Professor.
He opened the door with a calm smile:
— Good morning. Please, come in.
We took our seats. He scanned the attendance list.
— Looks like we’ve got a new student... Mr. Mostoufi?
— Present, sir.
Nava turned her head to look at him and literally gasped.
— Thank God! A cute guy—finally!
I pinched her arm.
— Sit down and behave. It’s a college, not The Bachelor.
Nava: Just look at him! He’s a whole upgrade from the basic dudes we’ve seen.
Me: Stop drooling. You’re embarrassing me—and yourself.
She straightened up and whispered with a pout:
— Keep playing hard to get and we’ll both end up old and single.
The truth is...
Nava and I had a pact.
No dating. No love stories. No husbands.
We’d stay this way forever—just two chaotic besties, living life on our own terms.
