Travis
I’ve been up for a while now. I watch as Elizabeth rest from earlier this morning. My heart sank down when I saw her hurt. The feeling alone frighten Malcolm and I to the core. I thought the worst. We still have no idea what will happen if she gotten bite. And I don’t want to know. I was just glad she just had a scratch and that’s all.
I was so in tune in my own fight. I didn’t know she had a stake pierce through her. When she removed her shirt once we had arrive. I saw a pink scar on her belly. My eyes locked on it and my belly roar from the sight. I went to touch it. She didn’t finch as it no longer hurts her. She said it happen fast.
This didn’t help.
I wanted to ask more but the doctor walked in. Time went by and all I can think of was falling asleep. So I held my mate and did just that. I just f*****g held her as we slept in our mate’s warmth.
I was up and dress once the sun came to. I left early and grabbed some clothes for us. My legs bounce up and down as I wait for the right time. I know someone would of told Meredith and Mable what had happen soon. And I wanted to be the one to talk to them. Elizabeth was already mad about them hiding this from us. She’d be in feral now.
*Knock Knock*
I turn my head slightly. Rising my finger to my lips to instruct the nurse to not wake-up Elizabeth.
“Ms. Mable and Ms. Meredith is here sir.” The nurse says. Earlier I had ask her to tell me when they had arrive. I wanted a private room to talk to them.
“Thank you.” I say.
I walk over to Elizabeth and kiss her forehead. She wiggles her nose and snooze peacefully. I headed out to meet them.
I made eye contact with Mable first. She taps on Meredith to turn around. Her eyes widen in shock as they both hold themselves. I nod my head over for them to follow me to an empty room. One by one they walked in. Concern filling both their faces. I closed the door once a man walked in after them. I think I had met him once before. But don’t recall his name.
“We had just heard. Are you two okay? The guards didn’t see anything.” Meredith ask as a small sob left her voice.
“The doctor didn’t tell us anything. Did you two find anything out in the woods?” Mable ask.
“Travis? Is Elizabeth okay? How bad was it?” Meredith voice tremble a little.
I stop my pacing. Taking a deep breath. Malcolm growls in my head. Wanting to shout and dominate the situation that has now climax. But I calm him down. We were on the same side but yelling right away won’t give us answers.
“She’s resting. It was a long night. Especially what happen a few hours ago?”
“What happen dear?” Mable takes a step towards me. I step back. Making her stop in place.
“Why didn’t you two tell us about the wolves sooner? You have no clue what they want.” Meredith shrugs and I glare at her. “What is it?”
“Not your concern.”
“Meredith. I will not bite my tongue. Talk.” Holding back from shouting.
Meredith cross her arms. “I was gonna tell you two. After I handle the problem myself. It’s nothing.”
My rage toping off now. I have given her way too many chances. And she was still gonna act like this. No wonder Elizabeth feels a strand with them.
“Meredith you have no clue of what you’re doing. You’re lucky it was us out there and not a damn witch!”
“Oh don’t even. You haven’t known a thing of what we can handle. You wolves just like to make noises.” Waving her hand out as if this is absolutely nothing.
“Let me talk to her. I’ll explain the extend of things.” Malcolm roar in my head.
“That’s not how it works. There’s a reason why they’re circling you. And you are hiding something.” My eyes flicker. I can sense Meredith lie. It right there but she stubborn in the worse ways.
“The Luminis is my business. You’re not my Alpha! Nor are you their’s!” She shouted. Mable jump as Meredith’s tone change.
“And what about your sister huh? Does she not deserve to know? She’s a part of Luminis as well.”
“It’s not her concern.” She said in a low demure voice.
“It is when it has been going on for months. f*****g months! Do you even know how that reflects on everyone?”
“Just let me deal with this.” He whispers.
“It’s the coven’s problem. Luminis’s okay! Not the Black Harvest. So stand down!” Sticking her neck out you see the veins popping.
“Alliances have the right to know you are in trouble. Your sister has the right to know her family and home is in trouble.” Once more I try to hold my rage but f**k Meredith had an ego.
“My home! Our Home. Mine and Mable’s.” She shouted and my eyes drop to no respect. “Elizabeth and you have proven that this coven is a business aspect. To the rest of us it’s home. Covens belong to fully witches only.”
I shook my head at her. Shock on what she said. “What a f*****g shame. Really Meredith.”
“What! What the hell else Travis!” Her body tense with both hands tightening up.
“I didn’t want to believe it. After everything. Because of you, I fought on your side for her. But maybe her dread about you all and the past is right.”
“About what!” Her voice dance in a soft anger.
“You. And this coven won’t move on from the past. You can’t accept Elizabeth for who she is then and now. This place always blames her for it all. And she knows it. And you will lose her for it. And I won’t hold her back from it either. Not from those that don’t deserve her after she fought with her soul to make it better. She’s better than this place. She deserve your trust after every damn thing. At least trust her.”
“Don’t you ..”
“Okay kids. Stop it. We’re family. We can talk this out without lashing on each other.” Mable says as she holds Meredith back. The man wraps both his arms on Meredith’s wrist. Pulling her back a bit.
“Mable tell me you weren’t a part of this. Elizabeth can’t handle this s**t right now. This was suppose to be her peace.” I look at her in hope.
Mable shock her head. “We told you what we knew. Can you at least tell us what happen out there?” Her eyes still fill with worries.
“Thanks to you two..”
“It’s not your problem!” Meredith shouts. Interrupting me.
“It is now!!” My fist rolling up as I take two steps towards them both.
“Well.” Mable straighten herself. The man steps forward. Blocking her from me. “What on earth happen out there.” Pushing the man back.
I pay him no mind. “Elizabeth took a stake to the stomach. She almost got bite out there. Because of you two. We protected Luminis. We’re lucky it was only a few wolves there.”
You hear Mable gasp. Throwing her hand over her mouth.
“That’s not our fault. You willing went out there?” My head snap at Meredith’s words.
“Because you fail to mention the problem and now we have to deal with it ourself.”
“Again! It’s the coven’s problem, we don’t need you two fixing anything.” Stepping closer to me. The man tries to hold her back but she ripped herself out his grip. He focus more on Mable. Rubbing her arms.
“By the looks of it. It’s our problem now. So I’m gonna ask one more time. Because I’m losing my s**t Meredith.” My jaw clench down hard.
“All you wolves have a temper.” Meredith mumbles.
“Meredith.” Mable slaps her arm.
“Tell me what the hell is going on with the f*****g wolves? What the hell does this pack want from you? Has this Alpha been in contact?” I asked as my anger over fills now.
“It’s a previous contract. I’m handing it.” She claims.
“God damn it Meredith. Why can’t you just tell me! Why the hell do you think we have an alliance for?”
“I sign that for my sister’s sake. I trusted you to have our backs. So have it!” She yelled.
“Then trust us! Tell us without us having to kill, just to get an damn answer from you!”
“Why the hell did you kill them? f**k now you’re causing a problem.” She spat.
Is she serious right now. You see the anger in her eyes. But I don’t care. She cause this. Meredith did.
“They attack us! They tried to kill your sister. Probably was heading to kill someone after so long. You’re lucky we came when we did!” More than lucky.
“Don’t put their blood on my hands. You did that. Not me.” She pointed.
“We didn’t have to if we learn about this sooner.”
“Well it wasn’t’ a problem until you..” Stepping closer and I did as well.
“Okay Meredith. Why don’t we talk this out later. We can all four sit down NICELY! And tell each other everything. We can fix this. Together.” Mable trying to ease the room. But I don’t see it going that way.
“Why? So he can blame me some more. f**k that.” Turning to glare at her aunt.
“Listen here Meredith.” I step just a bit more closer and she did too. The man with them got in between us. Laying a hand on me. I shoved him off. “Elizabeth and I will handle this. I will have some warriors taking post..” I say as calmly as I can.
“We do not need you posting..”
“Shut up Meredith!” I yelled. I was done with her. Absolutely in disbelief at how she’s been.
“I told you we can handle it. You two don’t always have to be a part of every little Luminis problem. We dealt with these wolves before. Now I’m dealing with it.” She adds on.
“It’s been months! A child has already gotten hurt. Your sister was attack and almost killed. Take the treaty and f*****g call next time!”
“When it’s a problem I will.” She deflames.
Meredith is damn lucky she’s my mate’s twin. Otherwise this conversation will end another way. And not a way my Little Witch would of approve of.
“My warriors will be here for tonight’s outcome. They will stay until the f*****g problem is solve.” I claim as I put my foot down at the topic.
“We don’t..”
“They’re staying! And that’s finally. Elizabeth is not gonna have to worry that her family are targets.” I step in to tower her. And than the man grabs my arm. I grab hold of his collar to stay back. “Whether you like it or not. You are not gonna cross the treaty because some s**t your mother did. DO BETTER!”
“If you haven’t notice yet. This isn’t a pack. So you have no authority here.”
“Am about to.” Matching her anger. I shake my head at her. Releasing the man I walked out to check on my mate. And make a quick call to make the affairs in order.
I close the door softly. My fist balls up and I lay my head on the door. Screaming all my rage inside. They really f**k things up. The coven will end up as the wolves meal if this keep it up. And I won’t have Elizabeth accountable to that.
After I breathe it out. I turn to see Elizabeth was still asleep. Last night took a lot out of her. More than I would want.
I grab my phone and dial Mason’s number. He picks up after the second ring.
“Hello? Travis?”
“I need you to roll up 8 warriors to stay here at Luminis.” I say as I slowly calm down.
“Sure. But can I ask why? Did something happen?” He asked.
“You have no f*****g clue. And Meredith is behind it. I know it.” I went on to tell Mason everything so we can come up with a solution.
Meredith
“Meredith dear. Maybe it was wrong for us to not call sooner. We knew it could of gone worst.” Mable says with a crack voice.
Danny places a hand on her shoulder. “You did what you were told. No one called for this.” He reassures her.
“That’s right.” They look up at me. “The Elders said to wait. They haven’t attack. So we didn’t need to.” I say.
“A child was frighten. Nor to less during her..”
“No one could of calculated for that. She wasn’t harm. She’ll live.” I spat.
“Meredith. We all wanted to keep it safe. Your aunt is just saying that maybe we could of use some help. The man obviously cares for the coven.” Danny says.
“No! We’ve been fine without them. We would be fine. I had a plan to fix it. I was gonna tell her. But afterwards. I can do this without relying on her.” I begin to walk out to the halls. They both follow.
“Meredith.” She said gentle. Making us take a stop. “You are doing a splendid job. But don’t think that asking for help is bad. That’s your mother talking.”
“It’s not her. Why do you all keep saying..” I take a few breaths before my anger lashes out once more. “I’ll fix it. I will.”
“Okay dear. Just remember we are not alone. Treaty or not. Elizabeth and Travis does have our back. As do we. They are a part of Luminis and our family.” She says with a nod.
I know she’s right. It’s not a question at all. I would do anything to help them. Just like I know they would too. And that’s a problem at the moment. I don’t want to bother them so much. I didn’t want to put them in harm. It’s not like we can’t or haven’t been fine all these centuries go. Witches can handle themselves. Despite what the problem is.
I’m gonna figure it out. I’m gonna get them to stop. I’ll talk to the Alpha. Again.
“We can do this without needing them all the time. We have for so long. Besides, she’s busy. I’m not gonna add on if I don’t need to.” I told them both.
Mable nods with a unsure smile. She gave me a soft hug goodbye and I know deep down she worries. But also knows she can’t push me to this decision.
“Thank you Danny. For coming with.” I tell him. He watches in awes as Mable walks away. “Danny?”
“Mmh huh. Yeah? What?” He stutters.
“You know he wasn’t gonna hurt us right?” I asked him. I saw the look he had when he tried to hold back Travis.
“Precaution. I offer to come.”
I nod. And he turns to see if Mable was still there. I was always in such wonders on what goes on between those two. The way they look at each other. It tells you there’s a past. Like a past, past.
“Are you two back in the bubble?” Rising a high brow.
“Bubble?” Giving me a confuse look.
“That’s what Mable called it. I can tell when she’s very happy. And you’re around more. Together even. And she’s been happy around you lately.” Smirking at him.
He chuckles to himself. “We’re good friends.”
“Friends. Sure.” Shaking my head to their white lie.
“Are you suggesting we’re not? Has she said something to you?” I see his face turn a small pink.
“No no. But is there something?” Rising my brow. I was curious.
“We’re adults. We can be friends after all.” Danny says but I don’t buy it much.
“You know I know there was something with you two. But I don’t know that story.” Lord I have tried to hear that story my whole life.
“She hasn’t told you?” His eyes widen in shock. I shook my head at him. “Well it’s her story to tell. You should ask her.”
“Oh come on.” Whining a little. “Aunt Mable always says she would but never does. Can’t you tell me?”
“It’s her story.” I read his face. Blankly telling me he can’t.
“Did things end that badly?”
He laughs and rub his temple. “Debatable.”
“I see.”
He checks his phone. Texting quickly. “I have to go. Call me if you need to.”
“I will. Thanks again.”
Danny nods and calls someone. Rushing out the hospital. I look back, down Elizabeth’s hall. I wanted to go in and see her. But not after what I did. Not after I just yelled at Travis.
“I’m sorry. I should of ended it before yesterday.”
I turn on my heels and leave. Hating myself for such a mess. Oh what a mouth full mother would of said over this. I should be doing better. I need to do better. I knew better.
