Liv
My eyes flutter open. Struggling as the bright sun beams through the window. I feel so rested now. Never in my life would I say that as I lay in a hospital bed. I wiggle my legs over to feel nothing beside me. I groan as I see my mate pacing back and forth. I sense a small annoyance from him.
I clear my throat as the sound of him talking to someone on the phone wakes me. “Talking to your girlfriend?” I say with a tired voice.
He turns around. Hanging up the phone right away. He walks to my bedside with a grin on his face. “My fiancée is right here. All the women I need.” He kisses my lips softly. Making me arch into him from his intoxicating smell. “I assume you slept well?”
I pick myself up. Sat upright as Travis takes a seat next to me. “Surprisedly. Yes.” He pulls me in close to him. And my brain goes straight to his call. “Who called so early?” I mumble.
Travis laughed as I rub my eyes. “Early? Baby it’s almost 10.”
I scowl at him. I look over to the clock on the wall. Reading, 9:42am. “What? We got here at.. And we’re just waking up now? How the heck did we sleep in?” I groan in confusion.
Again he laughs at me. And I burn holes in his head. “You slept in. I been up since 6.”
“And you didn’t wake me?” I cross my arms.
He runs his hand up my jaw and to my ear. I push him back. Mad that the day has gone by. “You looked too peaceful. I couldn’t wake you.”
“Mh. Whatever.” I throw the blanket off me and asked my question again.
“I had to talk to Mason.” Laying back with his hand behind his head. He huffed. He sound annoyed. Which means there’s more to the call.
I finish stretching my body. I walk around the bed and walk to him. “We’ve been gone for one day. What happen already?”
He grasp hold of my waist. Burying himself in my chest. I giggle and pull his head up. Staring him down to tell me.
“Him, Gamma, and a few warriors will be here soon.” He mange to say.
My brows creased. “What happen? Why are they coming all this way to tell us? Travis?”
He rubs my back to sooth my nerves. “Nothing with the pack.”
“Then why are they coming? Did you ask them to?” He nods his head. And returning back to my chest but I pull away.
He holds me tighter, not letting go. I stare my mate down. Demanding an answer. “Luminis needs us. Clearly they can’t handle this wolf problem by themselves. I called Mason to round up a few men to stay until we can handle the problem.”
I sigh as I realize his call. “We need to talk to Mery. Let her know. They can’t show up unannounced.” I grab for my phone but Travis push it down.
“I’d already spoke to your sister and aunt.” He says.
When I ask what they said. He went on to tell me the argument he and Mery had. Honesty it sounded more like them bickering. My jaw drop as did my heart. I couldn’t understand why Mery is acting this why. She began to push us away. Is she ashamed? Was all of this too soon? Has someone say something to her? What the hell is going on? Why the change?
“She won’t tell me what she’s hiding. Maybe with you she would. Either way. Something is not siting right here. We’ll fix it baby.” He adds on.
I nod my head. Trying to take everything in. From the moment we got here. It has all been on edge. Mable acting a strange. To my meeting and then Mery telling us about the wolves. On top of that. Travis and I got attack while we take guard and Mery had the audacity to say it’s not our problem. As if we can just stand by and wait for them to attack the inside and hurt the people I love. The people I’m trying to allow to be my home again.
He rubs my back. Noticing me in my lost of head. “Don’t worry my Little Witch. I’ll make sure your coven is protected.”
His words warms my heart. But my body numbs to the coven aspect. I don’t even know if this is my coven to protect. Was Mery trying to say something without telling me. Maybe I had this wrong.
I went on to change my clothes Travis had brought. I hated that I stink. So we went over to the house so I can shower. Once finish I just laid down. Thinking of everything that had happen. Wondering of the what if and what should be done now. What’s the next step that I should do. If there’s even a next step to take.
“Are you hungry?” He ask while laying down with me. I shook my head. He looks at me with caution in his eyes. “Are you upset with me? Fighting with Meredith wasn’t..”
I cut him off as I look at him with low eyes. “I understood why Travis. Besides you two fighting. I’m more hurt by my sister. Your an Alpha and my loving mate. You had my back. And I love you for it. But it should of been me not you.”
He kisses my cheek softly as he whispers a sorry. I take his apology. But this feeling my sister keeps putting on me, it’s weighting on more than before. Way more.
“I just need a moment before the day starts. Everyone is coming and I think I may have to have a big talk with Mery. A really, really big talk.” I say.
Travis wipes a tear I didn’t know fell down. “Don’t stress yourself over her. This wasn’t on you. She made the call. We are trying to fix it.”
“But is it ours to fix?” Wondering if we are over stepping.
“We are being responsible here. We can’t just turn the other cheek. Unless you..”
I look up to meet his gaze. I knew what he was saying. I was just not sure now. The thought was running in my head.
“I think that’s the talk I have to have with Mery. I’m not gonna keep this up if I’m not wanted.” Sucking in a deep breath.
He kisses my forehead. Bring his head close to my neck. His breath sent my nerves in a frenzy. “It’s your call my Luna. I only spoke out for you.” He whispers.
“I just don’t want to lose them. Again.” I hold a sob back. It pains me to think I’ll lose my family all over again.
“We can’t force people to change their outspects. They won’t be who you want or need them to be. Some people are just not worth it.” He lifts my chin. “It’s hard I know. But what’s best for yourself is better. So letting go is okay. It will always be okay.” He says so gently to me. His God like speech of wisdom is still annoying but truthful.
After some time of relaxing in bed cuddling. Travis gets a call from Mason. Informing he was just now approaching the coven. I jump out of bed and hurry out of the house.
Heading to the open outdoors. A small town coated here. Travis and I met everyone out by the entrance. As soon as Mason and Sarah got a sight of us. Both run up. Sarah practically throw Mason as she made her way to me first. She takes a welcoming embrace with my body and her’s. Our friendship has really grew since the spell room day. Gamma Sarah had became an important person in my life. More than just the Gamma I thought she’ll be.
“I heard the news. I’m so glad it all went well. Even more glad you are safe.” She lift her head to smile at me.
“Jeez. What the hell Sarah?” Mason yelled as he rubs his side from an impact of a building.
“I’m more important now. Haven’t you notice dumbass.” I chuckle at them. Mason gasp with a broken heart.
“I knew something was going on. First Travis. Then you replace us both. Come on Liv?” Mason said with a low pouting lip.
“Ohh stop. I love you guys equally.” I smile as I grab him for a big hug. His arms tighten my small body hard against his. Spinning me around as he always does.
“I still forgive you for breaking my heart. Again.” He says. I slap his chest and Travis pulls me towards him. Growling at Mason. Which made us all roll our eyes.
Possessive Animal.
“Mine.” Travis says.
I turn around to kiss his cheek. “I love you more my Alpha.” Just the word itself calms him down.
“Okay Luna. Alpha.” Sarah starts. Mason coughs with side-eyes. “And i***t Beta.” Again we all laugh. “Want to bring us up to date here.”
Travis and I went all to tell them everything that happen since we arrived. All up to Mery being a bit shady over this pack. Everyone seems to be in agreement that she is hiding something. And with a hit to the stomach. They all think I shouldn’t burden myself with this. They believe the coven holds a grudge of some sort. And for my sister. They say that over time can’t change the past.
It hurts to think I may have to give this up. After everything. I wanted to hold on to this. Maybe even just Mable and Mery really. Maybe coming back here months ago, really almost a damn year. Was wrong. I should of left the past be the past. I still could of have Mery and Mable in my life. Maybe I would of even..
I shook my head. Not wanting to even think of that day. I can’t go back anymore. I can only go forward. I only hope for the most. Maybe I should of known not to.
“Whatever happens. Maybe it’s for the best. You tried. That’s all that matters.” Sarah says.
“Yeah. I mean. Your idea was brilliant. Meredith is just losing the best sister over it.” Mason adds.
“I’ll just have to talk to her. Hoping we don’t fight like the last time.” Looking at my feet.
“Just wait until after dinner. You have to meet Meredith in a bit.” Travis reminds me.
I scoff loudly. How can I go in her office and pretend I don’t know what she said to Travis. How do I just carry on like I don’t feel like my sister doesn’t loath me after I kill our mother. How do I just smile for hours in the same damn room with her. Planning my Wedding with my wolf mate. And Luna Ceremony for my wolf pack. How do I do that?
“I don’t know if I can spent the next 2 hours alone with her.” Travis grabs my hand and squeeze it. Whispering sweet words in my ear.
“I can accompany you if you like?” Sarah offer.
I let a smile out. “That actually seems nice. Thank you Sarah girl.”
Travis palms his other hand over mine. “See. You two are prefect together. I knew Gamma Sarah will be right for my Queen.” Travis leans in to kiss me. My face turns red like crazy.
“Gross. Get a room.” Mason scold at us. I stick my tongue at him. And he does the same.
We headed out to walk the grounds for a bit until it was time for my meeting.
“You boys don’t forget to get fitted tomorrow okay.” I remind them. I know they’re not fond about shopping and all. But I don’t care. This is important.
“Ugh. Travis tell your woman we’ve gone to plenty of these things and we have CLOTHES ALREADY.” Mason says as he drags his feet.
Travis’s lip curls at me and quickly change when he sees me give him a stern look. “No. You two need something to match the theme for both events. Mason you have an important role so don’t half fast it.”
“OKAY MOM.” He says sarcastically. Travis slaps Mason on the head making the boys roll in a fight on the ground. Like children. Little pups.
Sarah and I watch for a moment before I notice people glaring over. As funny as it was to watch them. I don’t want a scene. I cup my right hand up. Forming a spiral water ball. I throw it at the two boys. Making them stop.
They shouted in anger.
“Hey!”
“What the hell!”
“Tomorrow! At the Lake Highs Mall. Get fitted and match.” I tell them.
Getting up Travis pushes Mason down before getting to me. “We have business tomorrow near by Elizabeth. We won’t..”
I roll my fist as Travis grips my wrist. “It was hard to get you two a time slot. Be there or else both events will not happen until next year.”
“I waited long enough for my Queen. You think I can’t wait even if it kills me to..”
I cut him off as their careless caring pissing me off. “You think I won’t just call it all off. Ensuring neither will happen if you two won’t corroborate.”
“Elizabeth!” He shook his head in hurt.
“Listen! I can live a long life beside you without either titles. And I know it will hurt you and Malcolm. Just do this one thing boys. Or else.”
Mason makes a whipping sound and Travis had to fight to not launch at him again. I glare my red eyes at Mason. Making him flinch as I growl fiercely at him.
“Two! Fitted looks for you both. I mean it!” Using my Luna voice. And both of them look down before meeting my eyes.
“Yes my Queen.” Travis whispered with a snarl.
“Good. I love you both.” Giving both of them a kiss on the cheek before Gamma and I headed to Mery’s office.
I can hear the ranted mumbles and I chose to ignore it. It kinda felt nice to dominate two big werewolves. Or four really. Mason and Travis were the hard asses. Oliver and Malcolm wasn’t so much. Only in certain aspects.
It has been almost an hour now. Sarah sat next to me as Mery and I go on to deciding on the last bit of details for both events. She had asked where Travis was. I explain how the boys had some stuff to do since a few warriors came along. She didn’t say anything after that. Normally Travis is here with me. Even though I know he doesn’t care for what color the table cloths should be or which side of the room should the DJ go compare to our long table for our closest friends and family.
It’s not like he didn’t care about the events. He does. It’s just the planning part he didn’t like. It was just so much into it, he would complain about a headache and how running a pack is less complex than figuring out which purple fits better. Because to him. They’re all the same color even though it is not. Sometimes I’ll just have him play on my phone until I really need his help.
Sarah was a great substituted. She agreed with both ideas Mery and I had. Sarah was so happy to help us.
“Damn if only you two came along sooner. I would love for you to had plan my Wedding.”
“I didn’t know you were marry Gamma .” Mery says cherry.
“Oh yeah. We got married pretty soon after marking. We just went to the court house on our one day off. It was nice to have such a moment to just you two.” Sarah explains.
“Well if you ever need to plan an anniversary or anything. I’m here.” Sarah thanks Mery. I can see how she looks forward to it.
“Okay so we got the big things all cleared out. I still need you to tell me your guest list and if you want the same theme for the Wedding and Reception. It will save some time but if you plan to still have it outdoors. I just need to mix a few things up.” Mery ask.
“Travis and I talked it out. We will have the Ceremony after party and Reception outdoors. We also thought to make it a bit easier. We wanted to have the Wedding outside. That way everyone can walk to the Reception, otherwise we will plan for an Cathedral Wedding. Something close to his Italian side.” As I recall he’s not too religious but he adores the architecture.
“Ohh yes. I have a great way to deal with that. And if things change I’ll call around. Plus, I figure you might stay outdoor, so I have this made.”
Mery went on to pull out a large cardboard with all the details we had agreed upon. But arranging it for an outdoor gather. I honesty can say I love it. She was 10 steps ahead.
“We can run a runway here. Tying the Black Harvest symbol here. And then over on the other side I have fairy lights and both your names hung. I also talked to the painter and she will be bring two canvas as you requested.”
“Ohh that’s gonna be very special for you and Alpha, Luna.” I blush at Sarah’s comment.
Mery went down a list to what still needed to come in and what is still on hold. As she goes on and on. My mind drafted off. Thinking on what she said.
“The Luminis is my business.. It’s not her concern. It’s the coven’s problem.. My home! Mine and Mable’s. Elizabeth and you had proven that this coven is a business aspect. Covens belong to fully witches!”
It replayed in my head again and again. Thinking how right when I thought I was welcome back here. I was right where I had left it before. No one. Even my own family doesn’t think I belong here. They think I’m intruding in. Even more now that I’m half vampire. They will never trust me no matter what I do to prove to them. Nothing I do will make them see me as one of them. Nothing I do will make them proud of me.
“So for the kids I thought maybe we can have the daycare..”
“Mery is there something you haven’t told me? Something I need to know now before we go on.” I blurted out.
Gamma looked over to me. In a soft voice she says to hold off but I ignore her of course.
Mery’s eyes widen and she places her marker down. I hear her sigh before she looks at me all serious. My chest tighten as I waited for her to throw ash in my face.
“Okay so I made calls after calls and the flowers we ordered weren’t ready as we were told. But I called out of State and they have them. They’re not bloom yet but they said they should be ready for the Wedding.”
Mery leans over the desk to grab my hand. She smiles and I couldn’t. I just couldn’t. “I got this Livy. I won’t let anything ruin you special days.”
I look over to Gamma. And she shook her head no. Telling me to just let it go. But I just couldn’t. It was suffocating me as I breathe the same air as my twin.
“No Meredith.” Saying her full name she gave me a complex look. Almost hurt. I had never call her by that. Not once. “Is there something about the pack on the other side of the waters you won’t tell me. Even though I am not like the rest of you. I do want to help.”
She pulls away and her face drops clear. “I see the Alpha spoke to you?”
“Of course he did. The both of us are concern for Luminis. But I am more worry about you.” I reply.
She chuckles under her breath. Gamma snarl to her. I put my hand on her shoulder, telling her it’s fine.
“You don’t have to worry about it. I’m taking care of it. Now can we move on.” Turning away from me. She couldn’t even look me in the eyes.
“Mery please. If you and Luminis are in trouble. I can..”
She grabs a glass object on her desk and throws it at the wall. Shattering to the ground. “NO!”
Gamma is on her feet fast. Staring down Mery who just matches her guard.
“Mery? What the hell is going on that has you like this?” I asked.
She takes a few breaths to calm herself down. “Livy just please. Drop it. There’s other stuff we need to focus on. Other stuff you should be thinking of.”
“I can clearly tell this topic is bothering you. Just tell me. Stop lying.” I beg. I just need her to be honest and trust me. Trust her twin.
“I’m not lying. So please drop it.”
“Talk to me Mery. I’m still your sister.” My voice crack at my last sentence.
Mery’s mouth open to speak but says nothing. “Can we talk about it later maybe. We really need to get through this.” I can feel her heart racing. She was nervous over this. So I drop it like she asked.
“How about lunch then. You, me, Mable and Travis?” Hoping she agrees.
She runs her hand over her face. I see her bite down her inner cheek. Looking at me she can tell I won’t let this go unless she agrees. So she does. I nod and as we begin her phone rings. And once again her body tenses up but more this time.
“Excuse me. I have to take this.” She runs off to the hall.
I open my ear to listen but she spell her call to keep me from listening. I couldn’t help but feel shut off of my sister’s life. When she needs me, she didn’t need me nor wanted me. She was drafting away, AGAIN.
“Are you okay Elizabeth?” Gamma ask.
I nod softly. Trying to shake off the black aura in the room. We waited for Mery to come back and she fakes a smile on her face. I hold back from asking what the call was about. Knowing she would just lie to me.
“Okay girlies.” Clapping her hands. Tomorrow is a big exciting day. Dress shopping! Will you come Gamma?”
“If it’s okay with Luna. I would love to.” I nod my head to her.
“Great. I’m excited.” She wrote down the store name and time we are needed to be there. “Have you spoken to Travis and Mason about their appointments?”
I nod my head with no emotion. I just couldn’t get my mind straight. But I had to get through this thing with Mery.
“Yes. Luna made it very clear that they have to be there on time.” Sarah answer for me.
“Good. It was hard to just get a time around ours.” Again Mery went on to writing on her board. We spend the next hour going over the last touch for the Ceremony to come.
Sarah was a great support. I’m glad she came and will be by my side tomorrow along with Mery and Connie. My mind stayed with the main topic of lunch coming up. Which will be soon.
“Please just be honest. Even if it hurts.” I tell myself.
