Lauren's pov, The moment I heard Ezra’s voice from downstairs, my entire body stiffened. “Lauren, baby, I'm home.” My heart slammed violently against my ribs, Ezekiel was still in my room. He had already moved before I could speak, slipping past me with a speed that told me he understood the danger just as clearly as I did. He immediately opened my wardrobe and disappeared inside, pulling the door shut just as the footsteps reached my door. I forced myself to breathe, smoothened my hair, wiped my face and straightened my clothes as I forced my hands to stop shaking.
