Ezekiel's Pov, The sound of Lauren's footsteps pounding up the stairs made my chest pound harder. I watched her disappear into the hallway, and the door to her room slammed shut so hard I felt the walls were about to tremble. I stood rooted for a while at the bottom of the stairs, Chantel’s presence was already gone but the damage— it still hanged thick in the air. I shouldn't follow her and I knew that, but the house had gone quiet.
