Aryanna’s POV: “Where the hell is the b***h anyway, I sent for her a long time ago.” I heard the Luna sat from within the room and panic flooded through my veins. The door was suddenly pushed open to reveal the Luna and I stood frozen to the spot, watching her with wide eyes while trying to not breathe, as if that would prevent triggering her. “Why the hell are you standing there looking like a f*****g ghost? I’ve been calling you for the last thirty minutes but you’ve been nowhere to be found and no one has known of your whereabouts. Can you get anymore worthless?” She asked and I swallowed, bowing my head quickly to avert my eyes while silently praying to the goddess that she only continued the verbal abuse and she didn’t decide to hit me half way through. “I need you to help Lisa get ready for the feast. She has only about an hour left and you have to make sure she looks absolutely stunning. One single mistake and I can promise you I’ll have your f*****g head hung over the golden gates.” The Luna threatened causing a shiver to down my spine. “Yes Luna.” I responded, waiting for the dismissal. “Well, you better get t-“ She had just been saying when the sound of the front door opening reached our ears and stopped her talking mid sentence. The sound of more than one person coming in through the door reached my ears and curiosity stirred in my stomach but as the Luna hurriedly made her way down the stairs, I made my way into Lisa’s room to begin preparing her like I had been instructed. The air in the room certainly felt different, I was used to Lisa’s bitter attitude and condescending mood all the time but as I entered into the room it felt a hundred times more intense. The way that she looked at me, the click of her tongue before she walked away and went to stand by the large window in the room. I could just tell that things would eventually get very nasty for me, even before I would get the chance to leave this house. “I’m here to prepare you for the feast.” I announced like she hadn’t been here when her mother had given me the instructions. “Go f*****g ahead.” She responded, moving to sit at the edge of the bed with her phone in her hands. I made my way into her large and beautiful bathroom and after preparing her a warm bath, filled with bubbles and different nice scented oils and soaps, I invited Lisa into the space and waited until she was settled in the tub before I began scrubbing her properly. I washed her hair and bath her well enough, before rinsing her and offering a towel to her. Once we were back in the room, I headed into her closet and began going through the clothes there. Most of it did not look fit for the feast tonight and so I exited the space. “What would you like to wear? Do you have anything in particular?” I asked and she shook her head, still concentrating on the phone in her hands. Sighing silently, knowing that if Lisa heard me then she would literally take out my voice box, I went into the closet again and began digging through, until I found a beautiful yellow dress. The dress had different little flowers running in a beautiful pattern all around it and once I was able to pair it with a bag and shoe, I exited the closet and asked her, well practically begged her to sit at the dresser so I could work on her hair. Thirty minutes later, and Lisa looked like a completely different person. My insides felt nice when I looked at the girl in the mirror and it dawned on me that I had done a beautiful work on her. I knew I wasn’t going to get a reward for it or even the simplest acknowledgment but it still felt good nevertheless. “You look beautiful Lisa.” I commented, offering the girl a small smile. She scoffed loudly, walking past me and towards the door with her little purse in her hands. “I have eyes, I know that because I can see it.” She responded and I nodded, going ahead to clear the dresser top from all the items that I had used. “One more thing Aryanna. As long as I live, I will make your life miserable. You won’t know no peace, or have any sort of joy in your life. I’ll make sure to steal it away every chance I get. So don’t ever think that leaving this house or this pack is going to make you safe or keep you happy. You’ll never be, I’ll make sure you continue to feel worthless like you really are for the rest of your days.” She said, walking out the door and slamming it shut. I knew exactly what she was talking about and I felt terrible but only because I knew it was the truth. She would always make my life miserable, the entire family would make my life miserable and if they could think of something else to do to me that would make my life feel even more depressing and sad then I knew that they would go out of their way to do it. So I just knew that going to this Alpha’s home was going to be the beginning of my end. I finished clearing up the dresser, went into the bathroom to clear it up and then made my way out of the room. I was just about to make my way into the kitchen when I heard loud laughter coming from the living area. I paused in my steps and watched as the entire family laughed and discussed about something I couldn’t exactly hear or even focus on. The only thing that caught my attention was how happy they were, carefree, they looked like they belonged here and they did. A tear escaped my eyes at the sight, I didn’t remember the last time I was genuinely happy, the last time that I felt like I belonged in a place. The longing in my heart was deep.
