Chapter- 14 Aww, I want a daughter- in- law like her

      When Al asked her the question she was hoping to somehow miraculously avoid, she sigh helplessly.

Before she answered Al spoke again " Oh please have a seat, let's take it slow shall we? And here" He handed Ella two paper shopping bag and continued, " This was brought by Jonathan this morning".

Ella took the bag, sat down on the chair besides the bed and placed the staff she was holding on the arm of the chair. She looked inside to see her clutch and said " Thank you".

She opened the other bag to find a box inside, when she opened it her eyes widened, there was a thin dark blue gloves inside, she looked up at Al wanting to know what it was for.

"Oh I bought that it yesterday's auction, it might not be much but it reminded me of you the moment I saw it. You had on your gloves the past two times we met each other and coincidentally today as well. " He looked at Ella's hands which were still holding on to the box.

" Thank you", she was unable to look into his eyes and turned them away.

" So, can we talk about it now? And don't worry I didn't tell anyone about last night as I can hardly believe it myself. I just made up some lies about giving them money and barely escaping with my life. And I doubt that with how those people act yesterday, it'll be impossible for the police to catch them." Al tried to remain calm or was really calm and complacent but to Ella that attitude made it even harder to read what he was thinking.

" What I say may sound a bit... No really absurd but are you willing to believe me". She said and unconsciously caressed the handle of the staff which had the same handle as the sword.

" I'll try my best to make myself believe whatever you say. And is that the sword you were using yesterday? It can really change its shape hmm... " He set his eyes on the staff.

Ella flinched a little at the mention of it but after some second she let out a deep breath that she had been holding in since she arrived. She leaned back on the chair and finally looked up at Al properly " Do you belive in the existence of demons and powers in this world? "

Al: " I might have said no if i was asked that a day earlier but after last night I dare not say I don't ".

Ella: She laughed softly closing her eyes and put on a serious face right after to continue talking " Well than, can you listen to my story, it will take some time since it is quite a long explanation".

Al: " Gladly, since I am currently hurt and in a hospital, I have all the time for talking and listening" He gave her a flashy smile.

Than Ella Explained herself to Al trying to make it sound as simple as possible. She confessed everything about the existence of demons, powers, his past life, the wars and tragedies, about herself and her lifespan, everything except her feelings which she herself had denied the existence of. 

Al kept quiet and listened to Ella sometimes with disbelief, sometimes with widen eyes, sometimes with clasped hands and furrowed brows. When he noticed that Ella has finished he laughed dazed, and covered his face with the palm of his hand and taking a deep breath.

Al: " Well that was more, much much more than I could have thought of. Really... " He turned his face towards the ceiling with closed eyes.

Ella: " You don't have to believe me, you can take your time I just hope that I can still remain by your side".

Al: " Hahaha... Well what you said may have sounded like a story from a novel and I don't really know how to react but I'll try to believe you. And I'd really like it if you remain by my side".

Ella: With a grateful smile she said " Thank you, I'll make sure that this doesn't happen again".

Al: he stretched out his hand and took Ella's right hand on his " Okay but take care of yourself too".

Ella was surprised by his sudden action but she didn't retract her hands on his.

Ella: "Yes I will".

Al: " Oh and by the way I've been having this strange hazy short dreams ever since I met you, is it connected to any of this? ".

Ella: " Dreams?... "

Al: " Yes, they're never vivid but I always remember them, the dreams always consist on empty rooms or crowds of people looking at me and sometimes a person ". He tried to remember.

Ella: " I believe it is probably related to your past but I can't say for sure. Sorry".

Al: " No, it's okay. So we know what they want but do is there any way to stop and defeat them".

Ella: " I don't know, I know how to defend myself when they attack but I don't know their main base. Beside it is highly likely that they live seperately and only unite when it is absolutely necessary. If not, they can't always hide from the human eyes by living together in groups. It is the same for me. For now, we will just have to protect ourselves from danger."

Al: " Oh! And by any chance are the ones you were with in the parking lot last week their men as well? ".

Ella: Confused " Parking lot?... Oh! how to you know about that? "

Al: " Ummmn... I was meeting with my friends in the nearby area and happed to have parked my car there. When I was about to go take it I saw you".

Ella: " Haaa... Yes they were the same people as the ones who attacked yesterday. I refused to go with them and their public action yesterday must be meant to let me know that they can always harm the weak humans around me". She frown and suddenly looked up at Al " If you saw me fight that day why didn't you say anything when we first met yesterday? ".

Al: " Oh I just wanted to spend time peacefully with you and thought I'll ask you later and besides I didn't see much of it, you guys left before I could interfere".

Ella: " I'm sorry, this is all because I couldn't stop them. I just become so useless when something big happens".

Al pat her head lightly and said " No don't be sorry, it's because of you that I could escape with so little wound. You're the strongest person I've ever met" He said the last line with an enthusiastic act and Ella laughed.

Al: " See, a happy face makes you look more beautiful".

Ella: " Thank you, Al" She said blushing a little and with a genuine affectionate smile.

Al: "Hmm... I seem to be hearing a lot of 'thank you' and 'sorry' from you today. If you're really that thankful I want you to show it in action".

Ella: " Well what can I do for you? " She said holding back her laugh.

Al: " I want to.... " He was interrupted by a knock on the door before he could finish.

Ella pulled her hand out which was still held tightly by his when she heard the sound of the knock.

The door opened and Al's parents entered, they looked at the two sitting down and his mother asked " How are you feeling honey, and who is this young lady? ".

Ella pressed her lips lightly hearing the word 'young lady' thinking to herself quietly ' you will never say that if you know my age'.

Al: " I'm doing fine, and this is Ella, she was the one who helped me out yesterday along with Jace and his friend ".

Ella get up to greet them and his parents approached her, his mother hold her hands and said " Thank you so much, we're Aldri's parents and we wanted to meet you yesterday but you had already left when we heard that you have helped him. Really, thank you Miss Ella".

" You don't have to thank me, I just did what I had to ma'am and I'm sorry, I had to go back home urgently so I couldn't greet you yesterday". Ella said a bit nervous, well she ought to cause in their past life they were the rulers and everyone bowed to them with respect mainly Ella who was so grateful specially to Aster, who had always been kind.

" That's fine, and you can call me Aster and this is my husband Richard" Oh the same name as that flower thought Ella.

Ella greeted Mr. Richard " Hello" And he also greeted back saying " Thank you child, you can ask us for help with anything when you need and we'll try our best to help you ".

Ella: " You don't have to sir, Al is my friend and I'm glad that I'm able to help him. "

" You really are a good child, just tell us if anything happens we just wanna help you" said his mother embracing her lightly.

Ella Peeked outside the window and noticed that the sun was already setting so she said " Thank you ma'am, and I think I should leave now, it's been quite some time since I came here".

"Oh is that so, than let's talk more another day, you should go home and rest. " Aster said cheerfully holding her arm.

" Yes ma'am, well then, take care everyone" She was going to go out when Al called out " You forgot your things Ella".

She turned back and took the bags and staff saying "Oh thank you, I forgot" and Al muttered in a low voice " Maybe your age is catching up to you" And chuckled.

Ella glared at him and hurriedly walked out saying " Well than, have a nice evening ".

After she left Aster giggled and stared at Al with a teasing " Hmmmm? "

Al: raising his eyebrows " What? "

Aster: turning to her husband " Dear look at that, our son has grown so big and shameless now that he is flirting in front of his parents and that the poor girl ran away. "

Al: disbelieved " When did I? ".

Aster: "Just now, you think I won't notice just because you spoke in a low voice tsk tsk." She said clicking her tongue playfully.

Al: " I was just.... "

Richard interrupted them saying " Alright stop it both of you, the girl may have ran because you talk too much".

Aster pouted looking at her husband feeling wronged and Al laughed but not for long as his father added "but it is also because of your attitude" And their moods reversed.

Richard sat down and Aster went to keep the fruits they brought on the table and she noticed the flowers on the vase " Oh my! These are asters, my mom named me after them, she wished me to be a wise and noble woman and meet a loyal men when I grew up. How lovely, well I grew up to be all of them hehe... "

The father and son both shook their head in disbelief and Al said " Ella brought them, I don't think she considered the meaning".

"Well I don't think so, I'm sure she did" She said and smiled looking at the flowers.

" Aww, I want a daughter in law like her. " She said to herself indirectly hinting at Al while arranging the apples.

Al took the hint and said something that leave both his mom and dad speechless " I'll try my best".

The Apple in Aster's hand 'dropped'.
