Greyson 'Pov

"Grey , what is that thing near the lake , I think it's a human though?"

my best friend and second in command which is my Beta , we have been friends ever since we were kids. sometimes he likes to joke around especially when we are are not at the pack house, so I played a deaf ear to his remarks.wecleft the pack house to have a breather hence we decided to have a run for a while when we are at the cabin, I didn't want anyone telling me about my duties of the pack.

"Grey I believe she is going to jump"

he was panicking now and I stopped removing my shoes and take a look at what he was pointing out and there she was a petite boneless girl,looking all drenched and muddy was indeed by the edge of the lake trying to jump over.

"Dammit that water is probably ice cold in this rain,she will freeze to death."

"Aren't you going to stop her?"

"Why should I stop her?, she already made up her mind that she wants to end her life."

I replied trying to convince myself.

"So you are just going to let the poor girl die alone?" he said

"You know That's not what I'm talking about, she is probably a rogue."

he looked at me like I have grown two heads.

"Don't look at me like that Davon, you know I'm not supposed to get involved with things that doesn't concern me and we have rules."

" But you made those rules, you can always break them."

he paused and continued" And I know for a fact that if that poor girl is to die, you won't be able to forgive yourself" He was right there I wouldn't forgive myself infact I will be blaming myself for not being able to prevent it.

"I know you won't forgive yourself as well" I said to him

"you are so damn right I won't. "he responds confidently while hitting me at the back, I shove him back hitting him harder proving to him that I was still his Alpha no matter what. That was convincing enough, sometimes I just have so much love for my Beta and we get each other so well. I didn't mind the rain as I start running as I rushed to the girl, screaming to Davon to prepare the blankets. my aim was not to startle her as she may rush to jump into the lake and I didn't want that but that's when I see her starting to jump , my heart stopped beating for a second and I started to call out to her but it was falling into deaf ears as the wind had passed with my voice before it reached her. I prayed that she holds on for a minute before she practically jumped and without thinking I jumped into the late after her. it took me a while for me to locate her as she was few feet away from me, but to my surprise she didn't seem to pass out and she was just laying in the water not even trying to help herself up either. There must be some s**t happening in her life but she seemed strong body wise but her mind was rather weak.

"Hey I'm coming for you just hold on."

she lost her balance as she started to sink in the water, I dove in the water as I rush to get to her n get her out of that lake. When I reached her she didn't want to be held as she shook her head sideways as if telling me to stop without voicing out. There is no way m going to let her die now I've gone too far and I will not let anyone die in my territory. we finally reached the edge and Davon was waiting for us with blankets." Let's head to the cabin , I don't think it was going to keep her warm"

The walk to the cabin was not long the way I had thought it would be and the warmth of it was what I craved at the moment.

"Get the fire going, she will be sleeping next to the fire to keep warm." I say to Davon as I lay her down. I have not been able to to see her face properly but this is not just the time, if she survived tonight, which I'm going to make sure she does, we can introduce each other in the morning. I removed her clothes and covered her with blankets while I leave my wet clothes out as well and lay next to her for my peace of mind.

I look up and see Davon grinning from ear to ear," Go to sleep Davon, tomorrow is going to be a long day and wipe that face of yours you like an idiot."

"Of course , I will be out of you way, you take care of yourself there since you are sleeping next to a sexy and beautiful lady." he responds with a smug face.

"Get out of here Davon"

I growl at him ,he would never learn this one.

" Alryt I'm out, but you know yourself right, you have never allowed yourself to be next to a girl before so I'm just saying out of concern, it has been hard for you since you felt your mate die and you have done nothing but put yourself into working without allowing anything to distract you. I'm happy for you because it's good for your soul. I thank the moon Goddess for the second chance."

He was right it felt good at some point, just by saving someone who didn't commit any offence , he didn't say anything after that after he saw me quiet knowing he has hit a nerve. I lay down next to her as I gather her in my arms, and for the first time since the incident I can be able to breath as I gather my thoughts and breath in her scent somehow it calms me down, when I looked at her that's when I hear my wolf Sky kept ringing in my head screaming "MATE! MATE!.
