CHAPTER THIRTY-FIVE The tensed silence hanging in the air was quite profound and I’d never felt more aware of my nerves than I did now. One thing I didn’t expect was for him to be right about the donuts going well with the coffee. He finished his coffee, then turned his eyes on me. I could feel his gaze burning holes on the side of my face and so I gave in to my restlessness, turning to look back at him. “How was your night?” He questioned, watching me keenly almost as though scrutinizing every crook and cranny in the depths of my soul.
