Chapter One
Chapter One Always striving for excellence. A sentence best described Sasha Fox. Amidst life’s chaos, the lady remains to have a positive outlook. Believing that a positive mindset attracts positive results. Reaching for her dreams and attaining her goals are her best omage to her deceased parents. “Congratulations, Sasha. You have a brilliant mind!” her professor said. Shaking her hand upon announcing her current rank on the dean’s list. “Thank you, Mrs. Helen,” Sasha waved goodbye to her. She remained standing outside the dean’s office. Along with her fellow classmates, viewing the printed result. It has been a busy week for her. Constantly studying. Pressured from keeping her standing on the dean’s list. And missing her boyfriend. Sasha left the crowd and headed outside the university. Earlier, she received a message from her boyfriend. Aries Jones. The school’s captain of the rugby team. Athletic build. Charismatic look. Campus’ heartthrob. That’s how the crowd sees her. But only Sasha knew his dark side. Amidst that, love fooled her. Sasha stood in the waiting shed. Patiently waiting for Aries to drive her home. Their call time was five pm. An hour had passed already. And the sun is slowly setting. “Where are you?” she asked in the air. Bombarding his boyfriend with text messages. Desperation could be seen through her face. But when you stare at her eyes, longingness and sadness were dominant. She saw her schoolmates walking past her. “Sasha! Are you not going home yet?” She flashed a crooked smile. And saw her friend Lottie. “H-hey! Um… not yet. I’m waiting for Aries,” she smiled timidly. Lottie bobbed her head and waved goodbye. The sun has set. And still no Aries. Sasha hailed a cab. And went home. Alone. After eating dinner alone, Sasha rolled over on her bed. She opened her phone. And directed to her gallery. Her lips curved into a smile. Reminiscing on the good times they shared while staring at the photograph. There was a time when they visited the Enchanted Kingdom. Riding a roller coaster. On a plane. Jet ski. And so much more. They looked so happy together. “When will we do this again, Aries?” she mumbled. With her eyelids growing heavy, Sasha remained an optimist. Still patiently waiting for Aries’ response. A single tear fell from her eye. “I love you,” she whispered in the air before falling asleep. Meanwhile, Aries loses track of time. “Shots! Shots! Shots!” his teammates cheered upon him. The crowd goes wild as Aries empties the bottle of alcohol. Their team had a celebration. A stag party. Noah, one of his teammates, is getting married. After their practice, he was about to pick up Sasha. After Noah’s invitation, he forgot about her. As Sasha was falling deeply asleep, Aries’ night was still young. They had endless shots of tequila, rum, whiskey, and smoke. The crowd went wilder when a fine and seductive woman entered the room. It was their coach’s gift for Noah. But the woman laid her eyes on Aries. They stared for a moment. And the lady started swaying her hips. And Aries took another shot of alcohol. Knowing too well how this would end. Morning came. Sasha was getting ready for school. As she opened the door and was about to step out, Aries was standing in the doorway. Holding a bouquet of roses and a box of bagels. “Baby,” he said. Leaning closer, and kissed her on the lips. “A-Aries,” she stammered. Face turned bright red, which made him chuckle. “Do you think we can grab breakfast first before we head to school?” he asked. Sasha nodded her head. And took the flower. “Of course. It’s been so long since we did this,” she replied, and went to the kitchen. Aries followed her and closed the door. “I’m sorry for not being able to pick you up last night,” Aries heaved a sigh and pulled a chair. “I’m such a jerk,” he huffed and sat. “I waited for you,” Sasha brewed a coffee. “Where were you by the way? You didn’t text me back,” she glanced at him. Aries stammered. “M-Me?” And then he recalled what he had done last night. It was sinful. Passionate. And intense. “O-Oh, my phone died. And I didn’t bring my charger. That’s why I haven’t responded.” “A-And you remember Noah, right?” Aries asked. Sasha put strips of bacon into the air fryer. “Yeah. The one on the left wing,” she pulled a chair and sat in front of him. “Hmm,” he bobbed his head. “He’s getting married!” he happily announced. “Oh my! That’s great!” she clasped her hands together. “I know right. So, the boys and I had a simple celebration of Noah’s remaining days of being single,” he chuckled. “A stag party?” Sasha guessed. “Uh… yes, if you will. B-But no females there. Only us boys!” he lied. If only Sasha knew how wild his boyfriend was last night. She chuckled. “You sound defensive, Aries,” she paused. The air fryer’s timer caught her attention. He was about to say something. She stood up. “I believe you,” Sasha said. He smiled. And followed her with her eyes. Aries knew that he could easily get out of trouble. Sasha loved him so much. And with effortless manipulation, all of his dirt will be hidden seamlessly. Sasha arranged the table. “Let’s eat!” she said. “Thanks, babe. I love you so much,” he kissed her on the lips, cheeks, and forehead. Sasha felt butterflies in her stomach. For her, it was a perfect day. And for him, it was another day. After eating breakfast, they head together to school. Sasha was taking photos of the two of them in his car. “Babe, I’ll see you later this lunch. The team and I have to practice again,” he kissed her on the lips. Which made her blush. “O-Okay. Have fun!” “I will babe,” Aries winked at her. And waved goodbye. They separated ways and Sasha went to her first class. While Aries and his team talked and laughed about what happened last night at the stag party.
