“So your creature was an alien and you found it on an alien ship?” Jess prompted.
“Yes. The ship was unlike any other I, or my organisation, had salvaged. All the others were old; really old. Dead in space without any power, though there was still much to learn from them.
“This ship was different. For a start, it was powered. It was just sitting in space but lights along the outside were shining and its engines were running. It had active shields too, strong shields.
“The ship didn’t match anything I’d seen before but there are thousands of ship variations out there, tens of thousands even. We didn’t realise it was an alien ship at first.
