Chapter 31 Clay was eating his breakfast the next day when Zeek joined him. After exchanging greetings Zeek got straight to the point. “No work in the cargo bay for you today,” he said. “Captain wants you sharp and ready when you’re on patrol.” “What am I supposed to do? Just sit and twiddle my thumbs?” “If that’s what it takes. I’m just the messenger I’m afraid.” “I guess I’d better take my time eating this then.” “I’d love to stay and keep you company but I’m afraid I have a commitment to keep. See you later.” “Yeah, sure.
