A little insight.

Ryder's POV.

"Clara!", I say softly as I feel her nerves rage right into me. "Stay calm, everything will be okay".

Clara turned her head, Her eyes filled with worry. I knew she could feel it too. There was a shift, Something abnormal, something that was beyond our understanding.

"Doc, What is going on?", I questioned, I was honestly was beginning to feel angry that we had been kept in the dark all this time. I wanted answers and now.

Doc looked at the floor for a moment, I could sense she felt ashamed of keeping secrets this big from us. She had always been someone we trusted deeply. I even considered Doc a person I could confide in and considered a friend of sought.

She lifted her head slowly but didn't look at me directly, I guess the shame was a little too much, As she begins to open her mouth the words slowly stumble out. "Have you ever wondered why you and Clara are the only members of this pack that go anywhere near the river?". Her question catches me off guard, It was never something I ever really wondered about. Sure it crossed my mind why no one else ever came close to the river was never something I ever dwelled on.

"No, Why?", I responded as I felt Clara's anxiety through her hand.

"I have!", Clara blurt out unexpectedly, "That has always played on my mind, There is something about the river I have always felt it since I was little". Doc stood looking off to nowhere, Her behavior was nothing short of totally out of character.

"There is something Alpha Mark and I need to show you, And then we will explain everything", Doc said as she then began to walk away absent mindedly. As she got to the end of the hallway she turned around, "OH sorry, Um go get changed the both of you and meet me at the Big willow tree at the edge of the Fields".

As Doc walked out of site, I drag Clara into the bedroom and hastily shut the door behind us. "Clara what do you mean that you've felt something at the river before?, You have never mentioned that to me ever".

"Yeah well I didn't exactly want you to think I was weird".

"So what the hell is it that you feel then when we are at the river?", I question her as I grab her a pair of pants and a shirt for her to wear and pass them to her.

"I don't know Ryder, It was like a presence, I kind of felt like we were never alone there", She told me as she kept her tone low as she grabbed the clothing from my hands.

"I don't know what it is exactly, But I have always found it kind of comforting".

I turn my back and remove my boxers and put on some dry boxers and a pair of shorts.

"Okay, Well I have to say that I have always felt extremely calm and at ease at the river, Something about being there always made me feel like everything will be okay, I never felt a presence though just at ease", I confessed. The River had always been my go to place when I needed to calm myself or de-stress myself.

"Well I think we should hurry up and go find out what is going on, I need answers. All this is just getting stressful and quite frankly I am angry so many secrets have been kept from us", Clara says as she walks towards the door and looks at me. "Hurry up and get a damn shirt on, I want to go".

"Alright!, Alright!, Pushy much", I blurt out teasingly.

I grabbed a t-shirt from the draw and threw it on. "Let's go get our answers then shall we".

Clara opened up the door and headed straight down the hallway. Clara grabbed my hand and intertwined her fingers in mine. I looked at her but didn't say a word I just gripped her hand tightly, For whatever reason she needed comfort from me and I was okay with it. I took comfort from her aswell. whether I wanted to admit it too myself or not, I liked it.

We headed straight outside to the willow tree at the edge of the fields and waited for Doc and Alpha Mark.

We was not long before we see them heading our way. I see the look on Alpha's face, Something massive was troubling him.

As they got came close Mark looked at us and pointed for us to follow them.

"You both need to see this to understand", He spoke, His tone was nothing short of Sullen.

As we edged closer and closer towards the river where the trees start to become dense Doc and Alpha Mark suddenly stop.

"What's going on", Clara says as I feel her suddenly feel anxious.

Alpha Mark turned his head and looked at me. "I need to show you what happens when any other pack members tries to go near the river". Alpha mark pushed us all off to the side as he took a few steps forward. Unexpectedly it was like some weird force threw him backwards 10 feet through the air as we watch on in horror as his body slams hard onto the ground behind us.

"What the FU*CK", I blurt out as shock and confusion raged through me like a hurricane.

Clara let go of my hand as we both then run towards Our Alpha.

"Alpha What the hell was that", Clara questioned. As Alpha Mark got to his feet.

"That is exactly what we need to explain", Alpha Mark pointed over to Doc As she stood there looking off into nowhere. "but that occurring to the females we don't understand at all", Alpha explained as we stood there looking at Doc as She looked like she was suddenly in an transfixed state.

Chills swept over my body. I didn't understand any of it.
