I actually managed to make my class that morning with time to spare and I actually was awake well for the majority I mean I got the gist of what was being said although my notes didn’t seem particularly clear.
“So what are you up to now?” I asked Ashton as I dragged him towards the coffee bar; if I was even going to manage the two minute walk to the car I would need caffeine to do that. He shrugged
“Just hang about.”
“Next lectures not for three hours.” He shrugged,
“It’ll take me three quarters of an hour to get home and don’t much see the point.”
“You can come hang out at mine.” I said with a shrug as my cup of caffeine was thankfully passed over.
“Its alright.” he said shaking his head as he blushed a beautiful crimson.
“Ash are you ever going to relax?” I asked gently “I may think your cute but believe me I’m honestly not tying to f**k you.” He laughed but every inch of skin I could see was now blushing furiously. “yuck.” I said screwing up my features as I downed my espresso.
“Why order it if you hate it?” he asked for some bizarre reason he actually looked half interested.
“Desperate times.” I said brightly
“Embracing student life already?”
“No same old same old.” I said with a shrug, “Ok how about I just keep you company?”
“Another Drink?” Ashton asked vaguely I beamed,
“Excellent idea.” I said “you get the seats I’ll get the drinks.”
“Jessie.” A voice said too brightly for my liking as I sat with Ashton quietly contently watching the world go by.
“Hi Lauren.” I said with as much enthusiasm as I could muster.
“Amy.” she called sitting herself down placing a large handbag on her lap. I jumped as a tiny head appeared from that bag and began snapping viciously at me. I frowned at what I could see appeared to be a tiny Dog who was japing and lunging at me viciously. “Shhh Twinkle.” Lauren scolded “she’s Amy’s.” Lauren said squinting vaguely at the dog. “a little overexcited today aren’t you twinkle.’ She said as if she was addressing a toddler.
“Hi babes.” Amy said sitting down next to Ashton which was the only seat left available but she still glared at him for a second as if he had somehow planned this. Ashton shifted nervously and I could see him start to squirm so I quickly snapped my legs around his tightly. He frowned as I gave a little smile that clearly said ‘your not going anywhere’.
“Oh dear what got twinkle in a grump.” Amy said plainly deciding to pretend that Ashton was invisible as she reached over and took the bag from Lauren as the fury little thing continued to go mad while I tried to look indifferent. The truth was I knew what was wrong with her dog –me. Most animals don’t like me as most animals can smell the wolf in me, Dogs seem to be especially aware of the inaccuracies in our scent we just smell wrong and they do not like it. I was pretty used to it, animals reacted this way since before I can even remember.
“So how’s everyone’s first day going?” Lauren asked brightly.
Me and Ashton didn’t manage to escape until we actually did have a lecture to get to my god Amy and Lauren could talk. And they managed to talk me into agreeing to go to some fresher party thing at the weekend though they subtly managed to forget to issue Ashton with an invite. But this combined with the fact that I didn’t know if I would even still be here on Saturday and of course the eternally present pining for Derek meant that by the time I had finished class I was furious. So I sent Jamie a voice mail telling him I’d be back home in a couple of hours and instead headed to kick the crap out of an innocent kick pad instead.
“Wow your keen.” Scott said from behind me with a smile as I battered one of the punch bags enthusiastically. “Class doesn’t even start for another two hours.”
“I know.” I said slamming my leg into the bag “I couldn’t wait.”
“I can see that remind me never to piss you off.” He said as I began punching the bag with equal ferocity. As when I was working this hard that was all I thought about nothing else really seemed to matter even the pain from being parted from Derek was like a side issue. “Is this making you feel any better?” he asked,
“Not yet.” I snarled punching three hard kicks rapidly into the bag.
“Would you prefer to spar?” he asked lightly,
“You want to spar with the seriously pissed off girl?”
“If it’ll help.” And it did. We raced up and down the mats trading blow after blow. The strain of the simple pure physical exertion making me clearer than I had felt in a long time. Scott insisted on wearing his padding so he was less affected by being hit but the pads also made it harder for him to move. Our strength was about even and of course I was pissed off so that helped. Obviously his technique was better than mine but I had been raised to believe that you win a fight and what the hell does it matter how as in the real world you don’t get points for winning in a pretty way. Scott swung a right hook which I ducked coming up quickly enough that momentum was still carrying him on and I took advantage of this lack of balance by kicking the back of his knee hard. He cursed as he collapsed down on his knees I pounced pushing my hands hard against his chest he landed flat on his back with me straddling him holding him down.
“Guess this means I won.” I said my face hovering over his. I knew I should move I really didn’t know him enough to be staying in this position but I didn’t move because too be honest I didn’t want too, I felt pretty damn turned on right then.
“That was about twenty illegal moves.” He said blandly, I smiled
“Don’t get points for being pretty. And besides your on your Ass and I’m on you.” He smiled, as I twisted my hips around just a little but the flicker of his eyes clearly indicated that he had noticed, and very tellingly he made no move to discourage me.
“You cheated.”
“And won.”
“So you cheated well.” He conceded. “Are you going to let me up?”
“I’m thinking about it but right now I don’t really see the benefit for me.” I said spreading my hands out on his chest allowing me to feel his firm muscles beneath his sweat drenched t-shirt.
“You want me to beg?” he said his eyes sparkling intently.
“That could be fun.”
“Well I’m not going to.” he said running his hands up my thighs “I kind of like it here.”
“Oh do you.”
“Who wouldn’t.”
“Well this isn’t inspiring me into letting you go.” I said my voice forced calm as his lazy hands were beginning to affect me.
“That’s unfortunate.” He said pulling his hands reluctantly off my thighs locking his gaze on mine his blue eyes mesmerizing me. “I’ll have to try something else.” He said sliding his hands up through my hair he pulled my lips down roughly on to his. Lust roared though me urging my body on, I wanted him. This intense desire pushed out everything else all I could think about was how good his hands felt how new and exotic he tasted. I had never done this before; never it wasn’t the way we were (well except for Dean! But I’m defiantly not dean). I’d never done this I’d never given into pure lust like this but I knew full well that was all that between the two of us and I was glad, that made it better it felt so good. I found my breath catching as Scott roughly began yanking my t-shirt up over my head, before he began fumbling
“Damn these things.” He snarled fiddling with the catch of my bra,
“No talking.” I sapped twisting my hands round to undo it myself.
“Alright.” He muttered “no talking.”
“That’s talking.” I snarled biting his lower lip. I reached down and grabbed his shirt tearing it from him exposing a rippled chest and stomach, Scott laughed clearly he hadn’t been expected that but it seemed to work as I suddenly found my panties were tangled around my ankles and right now that was a what I wanted I revelled in this. The way his fingertips bushed my skin. The clumsiness of his hands as he was forced to read my expressions to learn how I wanted him to touch me. Then he was inside me everything else was overwhelmed by the sounds, tastes and feel of s*x pure, raw, lust filled f*****g. And it was exactly what I needed.
“Hey.” Jamie called as I walked in flinging myself down on the sofa.
“Hey Jay Jay.” I called “dinner ready yet I’m starving?” he pushed himself out of his armchair with a half groan
“give it half an hour I wasn’t sure when you’d be back you can get very into your physical ac.t.i.v.it.ies… what?” he said looking over blankly as I Laughed ridiculously. I tried to answer but found myself unable to recover enough breath to manage it. “Are you drunk?” Jamie asked as I continued to snort, “Or high?” I shook my head as I fought to recover my giggles. “Then what?” he asked blankly.
“I had an interesting day.” I said suddenly feeling rather ashamed at my laughter. Though I had leant one interesting thing today that was making me grin, though it was hard to explain to anyone else but the pain I’d been feeling everyday, the indefinable constant discomfort which being separated from Derek was causing had gone. Strange after effect from s*x but I’d take it so for the first time since I’d left home I wasn’t in pain and I wasn’t thinking about him so I was happy. “Any doggy smells?”
“You wouldn’t still be here if there were.” He said sticking his head in the fridge, “but that still doesn’t mean I like this.” He said reappearing
“I didn’t expect you too Darling. I’m going to go have a shower.” I said gesturing vaguely.
“Good I’m going to search your room for contraband.” He said as I chuckled.
I changed my mind when I reached the bathroom and instead decided to have a bath as I was suddenly feeling inexplicably tired a feeling which only increased as I slid into the bubbles. I sighed closing my eyes luxuriating in the feeling.
“What the hell are you doing get back into bed.” I started at the venom in Kate’s voice before I smiled I was dreaming about home again. I was in the spare bedroom the one which became an infirmary when required. “Derek.” She snarled I smiled as I spotted him on the opposite side of the room wriggling his naked body into his jeans.
“I don’t need to Kate I’m fine.” He growled
“Derek.” She said with an enforced calm voice “Werewolves do not just pass out for no reason there is something wrong.”
“I didn’t pass out.” Derek snapped
“Yeah you did.”
“Well I’m fine now.” He said sharply “I was just in a bit of pain its over.”
“Derek you’re an enforcer. You ran twelve miles on a broken leg, one time when you got shot you cut a bullet out of your stomach with a pen knife and now you telling me ‘a bit of pain’ made you pass out.”
“I’m really fine now okay.”
“Well you staying here and getting some rest until I make that conclusion.” Kate snapped.
“No.” Derek said instantly
“What you have to be macho. Why do you have to go right now what is more important that you health?”
“Jessie.” He whispered biting his lower lip and I saw Kate’s posture visible soften, “something’s wrong”
“Derek.” She said softly putting a hand on his forearm, “you don’t know that she’s fine. Your just worried about her it’s completely understand...”
“That is not it.” Derek said rubbing a hand across his eyes “it’s just since…god.” He muttered with a sigh looking highly uncomfortable as he took what was clearly intended to be a calming breath. “Okay since we… oh fuck.” He sighed,
“Since you and Jessica had s*x?” Kate suggested helpfully, Derek smiled clearly embarrassed by his own embarrassment that even stopped him from being able to say the words.
“Yeah.” he said nodding “I don’t understand it.” He said sighing shortly “it’s not psychic crap or anything but it.” He smiled at the stupidity of the thought.
“What?” Kate prompted with a small smile that looked perfectly honest.
“A Bond?” he said with a shrug “I don’t know what it is but I know. I know. And right now I know that Jessie... I know something’s wrong.” Kate gave a small nod.
“I believe you.” She said, Derek tried to smile. “But that doesn’t change anything.” She said firmly folding her arms “get back in bed.”
“Kate.” he snorted incredulously “you can’t be serious I’m fine.”
“Maybe it’s some sort of bond thing but it’s still not normal to pass out get back in bed.”
“No” He with a laugh,
“Now.”
“No I have to go see her.”
“Well your not.”
“Kate.”
“Your banned from going there you know that.”
“Well not technically banned.”
“Oh stop trying to find a loophole and get back into bed.”
“I …I can’t do that something is wrong.” He said desperately
“ok.” She said politically “I’ll get Darius to call her.” Derek Laughed
“She’ll lie.”
“He’s her alpha she can’t lie to him.” Derek laughed again,
“He’s also her father and she can lie to him and believe me she’s pretty damn good at it.”
“I don't think Darius is that nave about his daughter.”
“Of course he is do you want to know the difference between what Jessie told Darius happened on her prom night and what actually happened?”
“No.” Kate said her voice not amused but was clearly a little curious. She sighed and walked away her back to him as she said “I’ll get Darius to call her. Once your out.”
“Out?”
“Yep.” Kate said Derek frowned, as she spun around rapidly using her shape shifter speed to stab the silver hypodermic needle into his neck.
“Kate.” He wined as the sedative suddenly knocked him to the floor.
I awoke with a start that rapidly tuned into a choke as I opened my mouth in surprise and swallowed half my bathwater.
“Jessie.” Jamie called striding into the room looking concerned his mobile tucked between his cheek and shoulder. “Well she seems to be trying to drink a bathtub full of bubble bath but other than that she’s fine.” He said in a sunny voice as I continued coughing intensely. “Well I don’t know…” he said amused as he couched down squinting at the bottles on the edge of the tub. “Lavender…why is that more normal?” he chuckled holding out the mobile to me,
“Its Darius, he wants to talk to you.”
“How long have I been down here?” I asked vaguely, Jamie shrugged,
“Twenty minutes or so.”
“Huh.” Jamie frowned and jiggled the phone significantly,
“Jess,” he said “Darius, the alpha, you father, the one who pays my wages … and your rent.” He said I continued to gape at him as I leaned over drying my one hand quickly before taking the phone from him. “Where’s Derek?” I gabbled thickly, Darius chuckled,
“It’s nice to speak to you darling.”
“He is there do you know what he’s up to?” I asked desperate for him to clear things up and tell me that the dream I had was a bizarre coincidence. I know I wasn’t being discrete but I was too freaked out to be and anyway I’d just been awoken, discretion was elusive at the moment.
“Do you want to speak to him?” Darius asked coolly.
“No.” I snapped defensively too quickly. Jamie across the room chuckled as he pulled out a large fluffy white towel.
“But you want to know where he is?”
“yes.” I snarled,
“Why?” he asked seeming amused.
“Because I do.” I snapped.
“But why?” Darius asked calmly,
“Are we speaking different languages?” I snarled,
“Not that I’m aware of darling I’m just asking a question.”
“Well I asked one first.”
“Of course.” his said suddenly deciding to become a gentleman. “Derek is upstairs in the infirmary currently under the effects of some sedatives”
“JESS.” Jamie squeaked loudly as his hand plunged into the Bath to pluck out his mobile, but I was only vaguely aware of this as my gaze was suddenly locked on the far wall but I really didn’t see it, my mind was reeling. “Are you alright? Jess, Jess, JESSICA.”
“Yeah.” I said shaking my head slightly to revive my wits before I looked at him rather blankly.
“Are you alright?”
“No.” I said slowly “I don’t think I am.” Jamie held out the towel to me. Which I silently took and stepped out of the bath Wapping it around me as Jamie rubbed his phone with his sleeve vigorously.
“If you didn’t want to talk to Darius you could have just turned the phone off you didn’t have to try to drown it.”
“sorry.” I said wincing; Jamie shrugged his eyes locked on his phone
“Don’t worry Jess I’m still going to make you dinner.” I smiled and leaned over quickly pressing a kiss on his cheek.
“I better go call Darius back.” I said hurrying across the corridor and up the stairs to my flat, only frowning when I entered the living room and realised that Jamie hadn’t followed what the hell was he lingering in the bathroom for? But before I could analyse this my Mobile started ringing from somewhere and I began the frantic search for it before it diverted Darius to answer phone as that wouldn’t end well. I sighed as I pulled it out from behind a sofa cushion and pressed the answer button jamming the phone to my ear.
“Sorry I dropped Jamie’s phone.”
“Oh any particular reason for that?” Darius said calmly.
“I was in the bath my hands were slippery.”
“Of course.” Darius said placidly how smooth was he not pushing not questioning me just answering with a passive acceptance I didn’t like. I thought frantically of how to tactfully turn the question back to Derek, but no flashes of Brilliance came to me. f**k it where is inspiration when you need it.
“What’s wrong with Derek?” I asked blankly deciding to abandoned tact in favour of a question that might actually get an answer. “Why did he pass out? I mean we don’t get sick well not like that and Derek really doesn’t and I hope that this isn’t some sort of ploy to get me to come home.”
“Of course I want you home but there was no way I would manipulate you in that way. You asked me where Derek was and I told you.”
“sorry.” I mumbled honestly ashamed by my ranting as it was an insult to Darius’ honour and he was my Alpha I should NEVER question him that way.
“How did you know Derek passed out?” He asked softly, f**k!
“You told me.”
“No I didn’t.” he said placidly,
“Yeah you did how else would I know?”
“I don’t know” he said gently “you tell me.”
“Why did you call?” I snapped, “Its Jamie’s Day to call and he rang you ….I think … didn’t he?”
“Yes.” He said “but I wanted to talk to you.”
“Why?” I asked sharply
“Look.” Darius said sharply “I am your Alpha and you father and you being there is a privilege not a right. If I for any reason am fearful for you I will talk to you and if you don’t alleviate those fears I swear to God Jessica I will not hesitate to send the enforcers to throw you over their shoulders and drag you back to the den and place you under twenty four hour guard until I decide otherwise.”
“There not your fears. They are Derek’s irrational crap which he’s forced onto you and you’re f*****g buying it.”
“Jessica.” He said sternly it was just that one single word but I could hear his tone and I knew I had already pushed him further than was smart.
“Alright.” I sighed “what am I required to do to ‘alleviate your fears’ ”
