We Have To Wait.

1801 Words
Laura's POV. It's been a week now since i submitted the signed agreement at the office of Mr J .Evans. I had been taken to the town as usual by Nicholas, one of our pack drivers. The lawyer told me there would be a waiting period of at least 6 months, but it could be shorter, especially if the judge believed all conditions for him to dissolve the marriage has been met. Of course, going by latest developments, we had met all the conditions. So, in essence, we could be lucky to have it completed in 60 days. He concluded that we should hope for the best and expect to hear from the judge as soon as possible. The judge, who is also a Werewolf would communicate his final decision to us as soon as he is done. And that is expected to be very soon. By virtue of this, the waiting has started. Yes, we would have to wait a while they come up with the final judgement. And while we wait, everything continues as usual. Life must go on, after all. The pack activities would continue unhindered as far as I'm concerned. I will continue to perform my usual work at the office to the best of my.abilities. I've briefed all my six associates of latest developments and I've also instructed them to continue to perform duties assigned to them diligently until it is time for us to leave. And they have all showed their understanding and pledged their continued support to me as their leader. Alpha Josh really impressed me by agreeing for us to sign a joint agreement in order to hasten the entire process. I have nothing but praise for him now despite my grudges against him and his mate. Accepting to let me and my associates have forty five percent of the total assets of the pack was a big one. It was generous of him even though I believe that Alpha Duncan's intervention also had an effect on his decision. That singular deal has made me and my associates very rich going into our new pack. What that concession means is that we would be going to the Black Hawk Pack with a lot of money and honor. No one would be able to disrespect is or look down on us. I was so happy with what he did that I hugged him and let him kiss me so passionately that day. I was overjoyed that I let my emotion take the better part of me. It was a spur of the moment action from me. Not that I regret it, but I may not let him do it anymore. After all, he has Shirley and he can kiss and make love to her as much as he wants. I had been in bed processing my thoughts about the events that happened exactly a week ago. Today is another Wednesday, exactly a week after me and Alpha Josh signed what I would want to call a historic agreement. Not because such an agreement has never been signed anywhere before, but because it's the first time I would be signing such. The night had been good. I woke up feeling good with myself and life in general. I sat up from bed, turned my neck from left to right a couple of times and got down from my bed. As soon as I climbed down, I headed straight to my bathroom where I quickly brushed my teeth and stood before the mirror to inspect my face. Everything looks okay. Actually, it is just symbolic now, I love to inspect my face in the mirror every morning before or when I'm taking my shower. My face still maintained its smooth look especially since the one issue that had been giving me sleepless nights had now been put behind me. The issue of how to share property with Alpha Josh had been a major worry before it was resolved last week. From the bathroom I left my room and went downstairs to the kitchen to fix breakfast for myself. I decided there was no point inviting Sarah to come and do it for me. I'll rather do it myself today. I put everything together and in no time my favorite Breakfast Sandwich was ready. I served it on a tray and took it to my room. Just as I was about to finish eating the food, I heard a gentle knock on my door. I asked who was there to come in despite not knowing who it could be. The door opened and Sarah came in. I was not actually expecting her but as my most trusted associate, she was free to visit me at any given time without invitation. "Good morning, Luna," she greeted. 'Good morning, Sarah, how was your night?" "It was fine," she answered, smiling. "Okay. I just finished breakfast, I didn't want to disturb you." I said. "You would have called me, mummy," she said. "I would not see it as disturbance." I nodded. "Ok, if you say so, Sarah." Sarah looked around the room. "Is there anything I can do for you?" she asked. I reflected for a while and shook my head. "I don't think that there is anything for you to do now apart from taking these plates to the kitchen. and having them washed." "Ok, Luna," she said. Sarah packed the plates and moved them to the kitchen. A few minutes later, she came back into the room "Can I ask a question, mummy?" she said. "With all pleasure, Sarah," I answered. "Go ahead and ask." She hesitated a while, then went on to ask, "Have you heard from the lawyer?' she asked. "No Sarah, but it's just a week ago that I submitted the document, I think we should give them time, okay?" She nodded,"ok." Sarah is very much anxious to leave. Since I updated her on the very latest developments pertaining to the divorce matter, she has been on top of the roof with joy. She can't seem to wait for the thing to be done that would enable us to leave. Yet, we have to wait if we will not shortchange ourselves, just like I briefly explained to her the last time. As I continued to process my thoughts, my phone rang. I fished it out and quickly looked at the caller ID, which showed the name of Alpha Daniel. Yes, my mate. "Hello, Alpha Daniel," I said. "He'llo, Laura, how are you doing, today?" "Fine, I said, and how are you, too, Alpha Daniel?" "Oh, I'm very good," he replied. "Good," I said. The line fell silent for a few seconds before it came up again. "So, what is the very latest developments concerning the divorce?" he asked. I immediately felt guilty because I had not yet told him about the very latest one he's asking for. For seven days since I and Alpha Josh signed the settlement agreement, I had not yet told my mate about it, which, I must confess, is not good enough. He had told me the last time we departed from each other at Alpha Duncan's party that I should update him regularly, but yet, I had not done that as regularly as I should. "Everything is going smoothly, Daniel. I and Alpha Josh have just signed the settlement agreement and it has been transmitted to the court for the final decision." I revealed. "When did you sign it?" he asked. I fell silent for a while. Honestly, I didn't know how best to answer him. I couldn't tell him that we have signed it since about a week ago. He would surely be a bit offended if I admitted. And yet, I had to admit so we wouldn't have trust issues so early in our relationship. "Daniel, we signed it a week ago." I admitted. "Wow, darling, I'm happy to hear that. Surely, it would hasten the entire process. I mean, it would be faster than we ever envisaged. It is good news coming from you, Laura." "Sure," I said. "Did he sign it willingly?" he asked. "I don't think he would have done that willingly," I said. "I had to tell Alpha Duncan to appeal to him even before we had the meeting. I just got the feeling that he would not agree to sign unless he was prevailed upon and I knew if only one person could do it, that person would surely be Alpha Duncan. He respects him so much." "That was good of Alpha Duncan." "Sure, Daniel," I agreed with him. "So, what is the time frame? I mean what time are we looking at for the conclusion of this process? You know I'm very anxious for you to come join me here, darling." "Yeah, Daniel, I'm also very much anxious for us to reunite, infact I'm more anxious than you are, honestly. But we must be patient to let the process the process run its course. Mr Evans said there usually is a minimum waiting period of six months." "Six months?" he cried. "How could I possibly wait for another six months to see you again, Laura? It is damn too long, don't you think so?" "Calm down, Daniel," I said. "He gave a caveat." "Alright, what's the caveat, darling? I want to hear it." "Sure. He said because we both agreed and signed, the process could be over in sixty days or even less." He laughed. "This is better. Sixty days is so much better than six months! You're now talking and I'm much happier now." "Ok, Daniel, that's how things are for now." "Alright, my dear, I hope everything will continue to be smooth." "I hope so, too. Before you hang up, I want you to speak with one of your future wolves. She is one of my six associates I told you about." "Okay, give her the phone and let me talk to her." I beckoned to Sarah and gave her the phone. "Good morning, Alpha," She greeted. "Good morning, my dear," he replied. "How are you?" "I'm doing very fine, Alpha." "Good to hear that. What's your name?" "My name is Sarah. Sarah Ferguson." "Happy to hear your voice. You're speaking with Alpha Daniel Thorpe of the Black Hawk Pack." "Happy to know you, sir," she said. "Okay, I hope to meet you and your colleagues face to face very soon," he said. "I hope so, too, sir." "Good. You may now give the phone back to Laura." I collected the phone back from Sarah. "So, I'll be feeding you back on latest happenings, ok?" "Please, always do, my dear." he replied. "It's been a great pleasure speaking with you, Daniel." "Same with me." With that, we ended the conversation.
