The Divorce.

Laura's POV.

I was sitting in my office trying to clear some backlog of work. I had come to the office quite early after taking a very early breakfast. It's quite in line with my resolve to continue doing my very best for the pack until the very last day. The pack is still very dear to my heart.

It's been exactly six weeks today since we signed the settlement agreement and which I submitted same day. The waiting has been tedious and sometimes frustrating, I must confess. Many times, I used to wonder what is actually causing the delay. I usually console myself by saying it is a process which should be allowed to run it's full course.

I was putting away a file I just finished working on when my phone rang. I quickly picked it up and checked the caller ID. It showed the name of Mr Evans. My heart was beating very fast as I made to speak. I was clearly nervous as I didn't know exactly what he would say. Is there any problem? Is there any objection from the judge? Or are there any additional documents I'm being asked to bring? My heart was beating very fast.

Since I didn't know what he would say, I was clearly nervous as I spoke.

"Hello Mr Evans," I said, pushing the phone very tightly to my ears.

"Hello, Luna," he replied. "I have good news. The judge has signed the divorce decree. I have even obtained a copy from the court. So, please come over as soon as you can."

"Wow," I shouted, jumping up from my seat. "That's wonderful, I'm coming over right away."

Immediately, I mindlinked Nicholas, telling him to come to my office right away.

Within 10 minutes, he was already at my door, knocking. "Come in Nicholas," I said.

My door opened and he came in.

"Get a car, ready. We are going to town," I said.

He nodded. "Okay, Luna," he said and hurried out.

I waited and about ten minutes later, he was back.

"I got a car parked just outside, we can now go," he said.

"Alright," I said entering the car. We zoomed off as soon as he started the engine and made sure everything was okay.

Soon, we reached the town and Nicholas parked at the usual parking garage, while went up into Mr Evans office.

He was beaming with smiles as I came in. "Congratulations, Luna, we made it."

"Thank you, Mr Evans," I said.

He opened a drawer and brought out a document, which he gave to me.

"Here is the judgement, Everything we asked for was granted." He smiled.

I held the paper in my hand, raised it up and smiled. "At last."

We talked about his fees and how it was going to be paid to him, among other important things.

As soon as we were done talking, i left his office and made my way back to the car.

Nicholas, who had been waiting with a good amount of anxiety, quickly kicked the car and we left.

As we moved, I started to think of what would happen next when we reach our destination.

From now, things would start to happen very quickly, infact more quickly than usual. The paper I'm holding in my hand right now will trigger a whole lot of reactions. For my associates, they will be super excited. I continued to process my thoughts until we entered into our pack community

About ten minutes later, he stopped in front of the pack house where I came down and went into my office.

I sighed deeply as I sat on my chair in the office. I felt very elated to have this document in my hands and at the same time felt a bit confused about how to proceed. Whom do I tell about this first?

No doubt, it should be Alpha Josh. it would be grossly unfair for my former husband to hear about this through someone else apart from me. So Alpha Josh had become 'former' husband? Yes, by virtue of this paper I am holding.

I immediately locked my office door and headed for the Alpha mansion to inform Alpha Josh and show him the paper. Within a few minutes, I was at the mansion. I headed straight to my room first before seeking the Alpha. He would most likely be in Shirley's room. When I need to speak with him, I'll contact him right there.

So I opened my door and went into my room and plopped into my bedroom sofa, I immediately placed the paper on a low stool and took a deep breath and looked up to the ceiling. i brought my head to look down and smiled.

Acting on an instinct, I stood up from the sofa, closed my eyes for a moment, opened it and threw a fist into the air. Then I started to sing a song. It was a victory song that I'd had learned in those early days.while growing up as a young wolf in my father's pack. I sang the song for about five minutes before I stopped. This is actually worth celebrating, and I thank the moon goddess for bringing it to reality at her own time.

Yep, I can now call Alpha Josh and tell him the good news. Though, I doubt whether this would be good news for him considering the fact he never wanted the divorce, but for me it is certainly good news.

I was fed up with his betrayal and insincerity and I wanted out. Thankfully, I've now got my wish.

I mindlinked Alpha Josh, telling him to meet me in my room for some urgent matters arising.

Before I blinked my eyes, my door opened and he came in. The time was already 1 o'clock in the afternoon.

"Good afternoon, Luna," he greeted.

"Good afternoon, Alpha," I replied.

"How's the day so far?" he asked.

"The day has been fantastic, Alpha," I said with a smirk on my face. "The judge has signed the divorce decree. This is our copy."

What I had just said and the document he was seeing hit him like a thunderbolt. He couldn't believe what he was hearing and seeing.

Actually, the divorce was not new to him. After all, he was the one who signed a settlement agreement with me that facilitated this whole process. So he should have expected the judgment notice to come. The only thing is that he wasn't expecting it to come this early or that the judge would disagree with some aspects of what we agreed and further delay the process. That's what he was secretly hoping for. I know this because I'm someone who has a mindlink access to him.

Anyway, reality has dawned on him.

He pretended to take it calmly. "You wanted it this way. But you know it was never what I wanted. I never did support it from the start. But since you insist, I have to let you go. But I want you to bear in mind that i loved you from the start and will always continue to love you. I wish you luck with your new partner," he said as he turned his back, opened my door and left the room.

I'm surprised to hear Alpha Josh still saying he loves me. If he actually does, why did he treat me like trash? Why was he so insincere? And why did he tolerate what Shirley did and even covering her up? It is an irony, at best and he had to pay dearly for it.

I stood up stood from the Sofa and climbed on top of my bed to fully absorb the new reality and figure out the next steps to take. Now that the waiting is finally over, the next few days would be very busy. Infact, there would be a flurry of activities. I would be very busy doing one thing or the other. I would have many telephone calls to make and several calls to answer.

As I lay processing my thoughts on what next to do, I heard a light knock on my door. I asked whoever was there to come in immediately.

Almost immediately, the door opened and Sarah walked in. I was very much amused at this great coincidence of her coming in at this particular moment. Had Sarah already known about this latest deveopment? Who would have told her? Certainly not Alpha Josh. I had not mindlinked her today and I definitely had not received any mindlink from her. So is it a coincidence? It might well be.

"Good afternoon, Luna," She greeted.

"Good day, Sarah," I replied. "Who gave you the news? Is it Alpha Josh?"

"What news, mummy? She asked, clearly surprised.

IIooked at her face and saw that she truly might not be aware. It is truly a coincidence.

"Alright, Sarah, the divorce has been approved by the judge. I have the copy of the judgement"

"Wow!" Sarah exclaimed, jumping up with her head almost touching the ceiling. "We are free at last."

"Yes, Sarah, we are actually now free."

She smiled and nodded. "How do we celebrate this, mummy? Should I go and prepare you a very delicious lunch?"

I smiled. "Please go and do just that, Sarah. As if you know I'm already getting hungry.

She nodded,"Okay."

I fiddled with my phone as Sarah left the room and made her way downstairs, going towards the kitchen. I started to agitate in my mind on the next line of action. Should I call Alpha Daniel now and break the good news? I decided I would wait until I have my lunch. I will let Sarah finish the cooking and take my lunch before making any calls.

After a while, my door opened and Sarah came in with a tray containing food and two cans of Soda

"Mummy, the food is ready. I prepared chicken Sandwich for you to celebrate this important victory."

"Very good and thoughtful of you, Sarah. Where is your own food?" I asked.

"I already ate it in the kitchen," She replied.

"Oh, that's nice," I said and started to devour the food.

After about 20 minutes, I was done eating and asked Sarah to take the mess to the kitchen and be sure to wash the plates before returning to the room.

She nodded, cleared the mess and took it out of the room.
