Not My Will.

Alpha Joshua's POV. It's another bright day. I woke up from sleep feeling elated. I can't really say why I feel that way. But I'm thinking it's because of the rescheduled mate claiming ceremony which would hold today. It is still to be hosted by my Pack, the Golden Emerald Pack. The last one which I also hosted, had to be cancelled due to what happened. Today I would be formally claiming my real mate Shirley at the ceremony. I said 'formally' because I have actually claimed her by bringing her to live with me and Luna Laura here in the Alpha's mansion. Though I have kept it a secret from my Luna, I strongly believe she knows already through our mind link mechanism. The mind linking abilities between me and my Luna is so strong so she should have known about it already. But surprisingly, she has not raised hell or even asked me anything concerning it. I and Luna Laura married each other without actually being mates. I don't want to say that we entered into a forced marriage because no one really forced us into getting married. Rather I will refer to it as something like an arranged marriage, because we knew we are not mates and still went ahead with it. Well, that's how it went then. Breakfast was served to me, surprisingly prepared by Shirley and I was delighted to have It. After breakfast was over, I summoned my two bodyguards, Isaac and Matt, and informed them to get themselves prepared for the short journey to the Pack house. "Get your pistols and leave them holstered at your sides," I ordered. They quickly moved to their living quarters to get the guns. Though the function we are attending is a meeting of friendly packs, I couldn't afford to leave anything to chance. Wolves can be very unpredictable at times, so I shouldn't take chances with my security. As soon as they came back, we set out with them keeping an eagle eye on me. We soon reached the entrance of the Pack house and Isaac cleared the way for me to have a smooth entry into the hall. I greeted the Alphas who were already seated and settled down to follow the proceedings. Soon the mate claiming ceremony was in full swing when the master of ceremony bowed and beckoned on me to come forward and take my turn. I grabbed the microphone and turned my head to look at my Luna and then quickly shifted my gaze to look at Shirley where she was seated among the non-ranking wolves. I felt excitement and apprehension at the same time. Finally, I gathered myself together and spoke. "I, Alpha Joshua Andrew of the Golden Emerald Pack, hereby claim Shirley Marshall of the Blue Mountain Pack as my mate with effect from today." That was all as I returned to my seat. I noticed a chilling silence among the community of Werewolves present and what I can describe as a few muffled murmurs. All of a sudden, I saw my Luna angrily making her way out of the hall. Instinctively, I stood up and went after her pleading with her to return to the hall. She increased her pace and when I was convinced she was not willing to come back, I returned to the hall to be with Shirley It is needless to state that it's me and Shirley that walked back home together with my guards. After leading my mate to her room, I knocked on my Luna's door and she opened it after a little hesitation. "I'm sorry about what happened today, my Luna," I said with an apologetic expression on my face. "Why would you apologize when the deed has been done?" she asked. "First, you brought her into the mansion. As if that wasn't enough, you went ahead today to formally claim her." "Well, my Luna," I said as I pulled her close to me and cupped her face with my two hands, "my claiming her is just a mere formality. You know it's the usual thing among us Werewolves. I want you to know that it's not my will to hurt you. It's not my will to break our marriage covenant. it's just that I find it hard to reject her. The more I try to do so, the more I find it hard to do." She nodded as if she understood me but I knew she was not convinced. "Your position as Luna is not threatened regardless of what happened. She is just here so I can put an eye on her. You will still remain my Luna," I said, trying to reassure her. "Ok, Alpha Josh, I heard you," she said, "we would still talk more about it, for now I wish to be alone." After a few seconds, I left her room and went to my office downstairs.
