Chapter 2

"Your majesty?" King Kael called the Queen Dowager; his mother. He probably notice that the oldest member of the family is smiling from ear to ear while she watches the rest enjoy the feast that she prepared. It must be heart-warming and thrilling for her to see us gathered around like a normal family. "I would love to have this kind of gatherings with everyone more often. Now that Xaviro is back... and the palace will soon hear laughter and giggles of child," she murmured. My body instantly felt the blazing eyes of everyone. "Laughter and giggles of child?" Kat Herondale asked after she recovered from the state of total shock. My hand crawl on her thigh and squeeze it. The confusion painted on her face and the thin straight line hanging on her lips vanished. She got what  I wanted to say. "The crown prince came and asked if I could grant the permission allowing you to consummate their marriage." I heard someone choke on his drink. One moment after, Xaviro managed to redeemed himself. I dart a glance at him and smirk. "Consummate their marriage, Your Majesty? Isn't the Duchess too young for that?" he asked. The tone of his voice is calm and sweet. Xaviro is once again using his charm to get on my way. I rolled my eyes and continued with my food as I wait for what the Queen will say about this. She has the power of last word regarding this matter. "I was sixteen when the late King and I consummate our marriage. Kat Herondale you are eighteen, am I right?" Kat nodded. "Yes, Your Majesty." The misery behind her sweet and endearing smile is noticeable. Her eyes is close to tearing. "If the Duchess approves of this. I can't see the reason why I should reject the crown prince's request. Upon hearing it I was delighted. I am dying to hold my grandchildren from Sinichi," the Queen Dowager said. "We will discuss more of this in my office next week. For now I only want everyone to enjoy this dinner." "I WAS LOOKING FOR you." Kat flinches after hearing my voice. She is sitting in one of the fountain in the garden. Before she faced me. I saw her quickly wipe her cheeks. The night is dark but the post lights in the garden were enough to let me see her swollen eyes. Kat's feet grow roots after I touched the trail of her tears. "I supposed this is tears of happiness." "I told you I am not ready for this, Sinichi. Why do you have to put me in a situation where you know I have to f*****g bend myself and follow what the royalties want." Kat hold my hand and throw it back down. "You will gain from this. Don't you know what it means to be the future crown prince's mother? To become a future Queen Dowager? We will both gain from this." Kat gasp and chuckle bitterly. "Gain? You do realize that we are talking about our future child here. Your future child! Your damn blood and flesh. Well I guess you are really Adira's son. Because like the Queen Consort you only see your child as a form of investment you'll get benefit from when the right time comes---" Kat Herondale's body shakes in fear after I raised my hand in mid-air. I was close of hitting her good thing I managed to pull myself together. My jaw clenches. I breathe in and out multiple times to calm myself before I pulled down my hand. "This will be the last time that we will talk about this, Kat. Focus on what you wanna be. If you wanna be greedy then just be greedy. You can't be greedy while being soft-hearted that's not how things work." I turned my back on her. Before I walk back to where the rest of the family are spending quality time. I fixed my tuxedo and practice a smile. "12 AM your highness," Otis, my head of security said before he give me the key of my Ducati. I smirk and harshly grab it from his hand. "12 am? Who am I... Cinderella?" I walk in the rack full of helmets. "Don't worry I will be here before anyone notice that I left," I promised. Not because I care about if he gets in trouble for letting me be but because I don't want myself to get in trouble for getting caught breaking the palace rules and protocols. "On your same routine?" Otis asked. He give me my gloves. "Hmm," I answered before I drove off. A short moment passed and I can't see Otis from the side-mirror. By the same routine. Otis meant to asked if I would be burning hour or more in the riverbank situated downtown. I didn't lie when I said I would go there but when the traffic light turns red. I looked around and noticed a still open skate park. Change of plan happens. I end up parking my motor in the side of the street. A familiar gush of excitement electrifies my body. It's the same feeling I had back when I'm ten years old and I saw people skating in a film that I can't vividly remember now. That film made me want to try it but I couldn't. Spending my precious time doing such useless leisure is something I couldn't afford. My childhood was filled with academic studies and royal duties... the only game that I am allowed to play is polo and horse-back riding. Something that I didn't really enjoy. "Newbie?" someone asked me from behind. My eyes flew from his high-cut shoes to his faded jeans, tee and plaid shirt. "Just a piece of advice. You should not dress nicely when going to a place like this. You might end up getting rob," he said before he tapped my shoulder as id we are friends and close enough for him to touch me. My reaction brought a smile on his lips. "Let me guess..." he eyed my motorcycle. "You are a young master on an escapade?" I remained silent. "You just met the right person to be some thrill in your boring life," he announced.
