Mate?

William POV

I groan in pain as I fall to the ground, my whole body going numb in pain. This is the third time my Beta Jake lands a hit on me and now I'm getting p.issed off. I can't concentrate on my training because my mind keeps going back to yesterday morning. "Alright buddy I think that's enough for today. You are not focused and now you are stressing me out" Jake says with a worried expression. He drops down sitting next to me as I try and sit up straight. "Wanna talk about it"? He asks and I turn to look at him.

"I saw something yesterday" I start and he looks confused. "Well i dont even know what I saw but in the morning, while i was training with the warriors, a few cars were coming in and in one of them was a girl. There is something about her but i dont know what it is" I explain, best as I can. I don't understand why but there was something about that girl I saw that was calling me to her but I do not even know what it was. Jake says nothing for a while, I even start to think he is not listening to me.

"You think she could be your mate"? He asks, making me freeze. Could she be? No I don't think so. "Nah man I don't think she is. Anaya is my mate remember"? I tell him and he shrugs. "Your chosen mate. Not your fated mate so she could be" he says in a matter of fact tone. We sit in silence as I think about what he said and my heart starts pounding at the thought of finding my mate a few weeks before my coronation. Why would I find her now?

"No man it cant be. I would have smelt her or something but i didnt" I tell him and he raises an eyebrow at me and then just shrugs. "If they are at the Pack then maybe we should go back and find out then"? He suggests but before I can reply, Anaya walks up to us. "You boys should come and eat. I made lunch" she says approaching us with a smile on her face. Anaya is an Alpha's daughter from a neighbouring pack that my father has alliances with. Our fathers have been friends for the longest time which is why she and I have always been close.

I have loved her my whole life and this is why I chose her to be my mate. I do not ever see myself with anyone else beside her and she is going to be my Luna and Queen when my father finally steps down and passes the crown to me. But the old man is stalling. He has been refusing to step down since I turned 21, which was when I was supposed to take over as Alpha King. It has been four years and I do not know why he does not want to give me my title.

I stand up and pull my beautiful mate by her waist as she slides her arms around my neck. "I missed you" I say to her, kissing her face and she giggles. "I miss you too my love but you smell, go take a shower and come back to eat please" she says softly and pushes me away. I leave her, after placing a kiss on her forehead and get inside the house. We are staying in a private property on human territory for now because I wanted some time away from my father.

I take a quick shower and put on shorts and a white shirt, hurrying back to the dining room. As I approach the dining room, I hear Jake speaking to the phone in panic. "Why the hell didn't anyone think of letting us know? That is no excuse. You should have called last night. We're on our way"! He shouts into the phone looking very p.issed off. "What's going on"? Anaya asks him and he looks at me. "The pack was attacked last night. About 200 rogues came in and attacked, k.illing about 20 wolves before the Alphas retaliated" he explains as I try to suppress the growl threatening to come out.

"Why didn't anyone say anything"? I ask and he shakes his head. "There was no time. Lets just go back. We'll get something to eat on the way" he says grabbing his car keys. "Do you need me to come with you"? Anaya asks and my wolf says one word that leaves me confused, 'No'. I have learnt the hard way that I can never question my wolf. He always knows best. "No baby just stay here. I will let you know what is happening okay"? I tell her and she nods, kissing me softly.

Jake comes back looking a bit angry, "Can we just go Will? The pack needs us" he says walking right back out as I follow behind him. I Don't take anything as the pack is only 20 minutes away by car. 'We should run' Aspen says, sounding a bit too anxious for my liking. 'Why? What's going on'? I ask him and he huffs. 'I am not sure. Just shift and let's go' he says and I decide to tell Jake first. "Aspen wants to run" I tell him and he nods getting in his car. Knowing him and his driving, he will probably get to the pack as fast as me.

I run to the forest right behind the house and shift into my 7ft tall dark brown wolf and start running. The forest leads me straight to the border of the pack as our pack is not that far from the human territory. Aspen does not take control even though we are in his form but I can feel him getting more and more restless the closer we get to the pack. 'Aspen? What is it'? I ask and he does not respond to that but rather takes control and runs faster than ever. We pass the warriors at the border and instead of running in the direction of the packhouse, he goes further into our forest.

'Where are you going' ? I ask him and he ignores me, suddenly halting in front of a large oak tree. He looks around and there is something moving from behind a small bush. Aspen growls at the bush and the movement stops and then a girl comes out from behind the Bush, dressed in an oversized T-shirt. I never thought I could ever find a woman and think she is more beautiful than Anaya but this girl is it. Everything from her red hair to her dark brown eyes that almost look like Aspen's fur. 'She is pretty isn't she'? Aspen asks and I agree with him.

She stands there looking at me, casually tilting her head and her eyes change between red and brown until they settle on brown again. "Who are you"? She asks me almost in a warning tone and as if by command, I shift back to my human form. "You are on my territory. I should be asking you that" I say to her and she shakes her head. "I am on Alpha Killian's territory" she says and I can't help but laugh at her. "You really don't know who I am"? I ask her and she shakes her head. "I am William Augustus. The crown Prince" I tell her and she widens her beautiful eyes.

"Why do you smell so nice"? She asks, leaving me confused. "What"? I ask her and she comes closer. "You smell so nice, really nice" she says, almost in a daze. "And i can't smell you" I tell her, with a raised eyebrow. All of a sudden I am engulfed in the most wonderful smell of roses and lavender and Aspen says the one word I have never thought I would hear him say. "Mate". Her eyes grow as big as saucers at what I just said and she takes a few steps back. "No. No. No. This is not possible" she says before shifting into a large red wolf. Her wolf is almost as tall as Aspen, which is as rare as her coat color.

"Wait"! I call to her but she ignores me running in the direction of the packhouse and I shift running after her. Her speed is something I have never seen before, no one is that fast except for...Vampires. What the hell is she? The packhouse comes into view and I can see my father and another guy rushing out the house. Next to them is Alpha d*ckhead junior Aiden Blackheart and they all look very stressed. She stops right in front of them and shifts back but she still has her clothes on. What the hell is going on here? Jake comes out with a pair of shorts for me and I shift back putting them on.

"What is going on"? My father asks and the girl looks at him with fear in her eyes. The guy that came out with my father grabs her and speaks to her but I can't hear what he is saying as the only thing I can hear is the growls coming from my and Aiden's mouths. "He called me his mate" she says and everyone freezes. John Blackheart comes out and stares at all of us before asking, "Who called you his mate"? And the girl just stares at me. John starts cursing under his breath and one of the Omegas, Lila I think is her name comes out of the packhouse running. "Alpha, Annabel is seeing another vision and it's about Alpha Amelia".
