The Attack

Amelia POV

I walk into the great hall and the whole room is filled with round dining tables with four chairs each. There are large rectangular tables on the sides with all sorts of food, but mostly meat. Which is understandable as this room is filled with wolves. Everyone is mingling and talking to each other happily and I am hit with Aiden's scent almost immediately and I can instantly sense where he is. He looks straight into my eyes with different emotions swirling in his eyes but the most recognizable are sadness, grief and anger. I do not quite understand the anger part of it though.

I look away from him, searching for Chad and I spot him at the front of the room with the King, deep in conversation. "I see Chad, let's head over there" I say to Lila and she nods with a smile. We walk over to them and Lila and I bow to the King even though I have this nagging feeling telling me not to bow. "Ah, Alpha Amelia. How are you? I am happy you could join us" Alpha Killian says with a smile and I can't help but smile back. "Thank you for having me Alpha" I say to him. "You are dismissed Lila" the King says and she walks away.

"Your Beta here was just telling me more about your pack. You have done pretty well for a pack that is just 10 years old" he says, pride in his tone. "We try our best and i truly believe it is because of the unity of the pack. If we were not as united as we are, i do not think we would be where we are right now" I tell him and he nods his agreement. "One question though, who is your previous Alpha? You are very young so obviously you have not been Alpha for that long"? He asks and Chad looks at me.

"I was made Alpha as soon as the pack was formed. I am the very first Alpha for Shadow Pack" I tell him with a straight face, my voice firm. Someone gasps from behind me and I turn around to see Aiden and his father, the gasp however, came from Aiden's girlfriend, who has a smug look on her made up face. "No one can be appointed Alpha at such a young age, in fact, you are too young to be Alpha right now, what more if it was 10 years ago"? She says, crossing her arms over her pumped up chest.

"Pardon Melissa's interference in your conversation my King" Aiden says and his father scoffs. "She is right. No one in their right mind would make a child Alpha. A female child at that" John says and Chad laughs but quickly apologizes. "Before i address that, I do not take lightly to blatant disrespect Marina but i will let this one go, only because Aiden is a good boy" The King says and her face instantly goes red.

'I can bet you a big, juicy steak the King did not forget her name' Kara says and I chuckle. "Want to share the joke"? John asks and I smile, "Not really" I tell him and Melissa widens her eyes. "What my wolf and I discuss is none of your business John" I say and he clenches his jaw angrily, "Watch how you speak to me, pup. And it is Alpha Blackheart to you" he says with gritted teeth and I laugh. "Alright, that's enough. We have more important matters to discuss" Alpha Killian says with finality in his voice. John opens his mouth to speak but the King glares at him and he keeps quiet.

"Amelia, how did you become an Alpha at a young age"? Alpha Killian asks me and they all look at me expectantly. "I would actually rather discuss that with you privately my King" I say and Melissa scoffs. "Blackheart here already deems you unworthy of your position as Alpha of Shadow Pack. Don't you think you should clear up and erase any doubt upon you capabilities"? He asks me and I look at Chad for support but he shrugs. 'Do it' Kara says. 'Are you sure'? I ask her and she says nothing.

I look around and everyone in the room has suddenly gone quiet. With enhanced werewolf hearing, they all heard what we were talking about and now everyone wants to know. "Do I have to"? I ask the King, not that I want an answer to that question but I am stalling. He does not respond but rather looks at me clearly expecting me to speak. "Can you all sit down then? I would prefer to be the only one standing" I say and each and every wolf in the room grabs a chair to sit, including the King.

'Tell them everything but leave out the fact that we know who k.illed our parents. That, we deal with alone. We need him thinking we are completely clueless' Kara says and I feel more and more power coming from her, in turn, making me feel more powerful. What is going on with me? "Alpha Shadow? We are waiting on you"? The King states waking me up from the confusion that I feel. "Sorry about that" I tell him and he nods. Might as well get this over with quickly. "Our pack was sla.ughtered 10 years ago. We were just playing in the packhouse dining area when a warrior came rushing in" I start, looking around the room and lookung almost everyone in the eye.

"My parents were Alpha and Luna. Chad's father was my father's Beta. Our parents told us to run but we sat in a tree watching as the attackers came in and k.illed everyone, burning every single building. When Chad and I ran, we found another group of kids from our pack and that is how Shadow pack was formed" I explain earning a few looks of pity from the wolves in the room. "That still does not explain why you are the Alpha, you are a girl" Melissa says cheekily.

"Well, I am the Alpha's first born child, am i not"? I ask her, tilting my head a bit and she shakes her head. "Alphas are supposed to be boys. Couldn't your brother do it"? She asks, raising her voice a bit and I chuckle. "I am an only child" I state earning gasps around the room. Understandably so, it is uncommon for Alphas to have girls as first born children. Even more uncommon for them to not have more children, in hopes of having a boy child.

"That is absurd. We have never heard of any Alpha having an Alpha ranked daughter in the last 50 years. This is something everyone would know of" an Alpha shouts from across the room. This one is relatively old, compared to other Alphas in the room. I have seen him before, in meetings with my father but I cannot for the life of me remember his name. "Well yes Alpha. I know that no one knows about my birth, but I do not think anyone would have accepted my existence" I tell them and the all look confused. "But I am sure of one thing, you all know i am a born Alpha. Am i wrong"? I ask, but no one answers.

"What do you mean, no one would accept your existence Alpha"? Aiden asks and I realize this is the first time he said something directly to me. I look at him and he has a small smile on his handsome face but instead of returning the smile, I give him the coldest look I can muster and his smile drops. "I was actually about to ask the same question" King Killian says but before I can respond, someone crashes through the door, severely hurt with claw and bite marks all over his body.

"What is the meaning of this"? King Killian growls and the boy tries getting up. Tries being the key word here, as he struggles and Chad runs up to him helping him up. "There..... is a breach of security Alpha. Some rogues got in, i do...I do not know how but they are here" he says, almost out of breath and the Alphas in the room growl. The ground beneath us shakes with the growls and Alpha Killian looks very very p.issed off. "How many are there"? He asks the boy, who is no older than 17 years old and the boy takes a deep breath before responding. "Hundreds".

That one word is enough to enrage every Alpha and Beta in the room but before they can act, Alpha Killian speaks. "Amelia, you stay here and watch all the ladies in the room. Everyone who is willing and able to fight, lets go" he says and I am suddenly pushed to the back of my mind by Kara, who takes control of our body and she growls at him. "That is not going to happen Alpha. I am an Alpha wolf and i will fight alongside you as such"! She says looking him straight in the eye. "Amelia..." he says but she stops him. "My name is Kara and as much as I would love to sit and chat, there are helpless wolves who need our help" she says running our of the room.

We reach the outside of the castle and there is a full on battle going on. There are so many rogues but the Royal warriors are fighting them alongside the warriors that came with the Alphas. I can see some of my own warriors fighting. Kara starts fighting any rogue she comes across in human form, clawing and breaking necks as if it was nothing. A lot of the Alphas fight in their wolf forms and so are most of the rogues.

'I'm shifting' Kara says to me and before I can even stop her, she runs and shifts mid-air biting anyone who stands in her way. A large black wolf stands in front of us, shielding us from the enemy and Kara tackles him pushing him away. There are pleasurable sparks where the black wolf touches us and I instantly know it's Aiden's wolf. We fight the rogues and fight each other because he wants to protect us but Kara is not letting him. Heck, even I would not allow him to shield me as it makes me look incapable.

Eventually, all the rogues are d.ead and the King stands in the middle of the field howling in victory, everyone follows suit and he leads us back into the Castle. Everyone shifts back and there are omegas with something to cover the all the shifters as their clothes were ripped during the unexpected shifts. Kara stands there, not shifting and everyone looks at her expectantly but she does not move a muscle. "Kara, shift back" Alpha Killian says but she growls lowly at him. If we shift in front of them, they will think we are weird.

"Shift Now"! He commands but it does not work on us. I do not know why, but the King's command does not work on me. Chad comes closer to Kara and brushes her fur, earning a growl from Aiden but he ignores it. "They will find out anyway, Shift back" he says and Kara drops her head in shame. Now she realizes the severity of her careless actions. "You have the rarest coat i have ever seen. I have never seen a red wolf before" one of the younger Alphas says and some hum and mumble their agreement.

'Shift back. Let me talk to them' I tell her and she gives me back control of our body and I shift back. What I get, is growls and gasps from the crowd of Alphas. "You are as fully clothed as you were when you shifted. That never happens" one beta speaks and John Blackheart asks one question I was hoping not to answer yet. "What are you"? He asks and they look at me for a response. The room is so quiet, you would hear a pin drop.

"The question you should be asking, is not what am i. It is rather, who am I" I tell them and they all look at each other. "Well then tell us. Who are you"? The King asks and I look at him as I say it. "I am Amelia Shadow. The only child of Drake and Meredith Shadow. Alpha and Luna of Night Walker Pack" I say and someone from the crowd speaks. "She is the only living Tribrid. The prophecy is real".
