Chapter 5

Clare's POV

I wake up to knocking on the door and notice someone beside me, looking over I see Kent and my heart flutters some but I hear the knock again "come in" I call out waking Kent the door opens and we see an omega come in with two plates "thank you" we both say and he puts them on my desk then leaves.

"how long have you been awake?" he stretches and winces

" not very long, the knock is what woke me. Why were you in here sleeping next to me?"

"you had a nightmare and my touch calmed you so I chose to stay, do you happen to remember what it was about?" he replies getting up and grabbing our food

" no, I'm sorry. I did sleep well for the first time in a long time though. I guess I have you to thank for that." i grab the plate from him and smile "spaghetti, garlic bread and coke? my favorite"

"it's okay I'm glad you slept well though and it's my favorite too, my father had it sent up so my assumption is he was hoping you would like it too"

I take a bite and let out a small moan from how good it is "it's so delicious" I say blushing some as I look over at him

"good, I was also gonna ask if you would like to work here and stay here or if you would like to take the beta house and make it your own?"

"Umm, I don't know that's a good question I'll have to think about it. Can I ask you something?"

"Anything"

"will your dad be executing them or just making them rogues?"

"that's up for decision still, we're waiting for the elder council to come. Why?"

looking away I mumble " I don't ever wanna run into them again I want them executed, is that bad?" I pee up at him and he looks shocked

" well, I guess not I just never thought that I would hear you say something like that."

shrugging I finish my last bite and he takes my plate " I'm gonna shower, I was going to earlier then everything happened and so I'm taking one now"

"okay, towels are under the sink, tooth brushes and tooth paste are in the cabinet over the toilet along with shampoo and conditioner"

"thank you" I get up and grab clean clothes heading into the bathroom. Locking the door behind me I sigh and lean against it waiting until he leaves to get in. "this has been the strangest day ever" I think as I hear him leave "maybe things will get better from here on out like he promised" saying softly I begin to strip then get in the shower

Kent's POV

I leave her room and take the dishes downstairs to the kitchen when I hear someone call my name

"Kent! wait up"

"what's up Beth?" trying to not roll my eyes I turn around and smile some

"I have been looking for you all day, where have you been?" she pouts and tries to grab me

I pull away from her grasp and say "we have someone new living here so I showed her the room she's gonna be living in for now, now if you'll excuse me I need to take these to the kitchen and rinse them"

"why don't you leave that to the omegas and come spend some time with me?" she asks trying to sound sexy and failing miserably

"because I was raised better my mom would kill me if I was relying on the omegas for little thing I am capable of doing unless I'm overly busy and no, I'm waiting for my mate. You've known this since we dated almost 4 years ago and it still hasn't changed. We also both know you're not my mate since you turned 18 not long after me and we never felt the pull."

"but Kent, you still haven't found your mate-"

I let out a low growl and say "I've barely been 18 for 5 months, do NOT bring this up again" I turn and head twords the kitchen, leaving her standing there

cleaning the dishes I put them in the drying rack and go back up to my father's office and knock before going in

"she's okay, she doesn't remember what the nightmare was about and she was getting in the shower once I left so hopefully she can relax a bit" I inform him

"good, I'm glad she's feeling better. Did she enjoy the food?"

"She did actually told me it was her favorite too and she practically licked the plate Clea. but I think that's more due too lack of food and how hungry she was rather than it being her favorite"
