CHAPTER 14 - A PATH THAT WAS PAINTED FOR ME

Present Time: WEDDING DAY

As Theresa neared the altar, Sebastian could not help but admire her more for the exquisiteness she had in her, but on top of that he was also able to notice the hurt in Theresa’s eyes despite the smile and beauty that, emanated from her physicality. Perhaps because of all the hurtful things he has said and has done to her over the past years.

Seeing her now only made Sebastian feel guilt the most. If only things were different, he could have chosen the path that would lead him to allow to love her fully.

Just as Theresa arrived at the altar, she was immediately received by Sebastian as he held her hand. And for the 1st time after so many years, Sebastian felt very warm as he was able to hold the hand he once had once held the most.

Theresa felt very nervous at the sight of Sebastian, who had his cold and arrogant face the entire time she was looking at him. But somehow she felt relieved that he was able to show up and even tried his best to treat her well in front of everyone.

“Thank you for showing up today. I thought you would never come.” Theresa spoke first as she smiled at Sebastian as he assisted her to her seat.

“I am as surprised as you as well as to why I am even here right now,” Sebastian answered coldly as he sat next to Theresa.

“Oh, I see.” Theresa answered as she bowed her head down and forced a smile on her face.

“Let’s get this done fast. I still have a lot of things to do.” Sebastian answered, as Theresa just kept quiet.

Theresa was indeed truly hurt by the way Sebastian reacted and answered her. In fact, she felt she was only forcing him and instead wanted to cancel the wedding already. But somehow a part of her contradict what her mind was thinking, and it was her heart. She knew and she hoped that somehow she is still there somewhere, and she is determined to be a better person for him to be able to accept her someday.

As the ceremony started, Theresa never gave a glance at Sebastian unless it was needed. Sebastian somehow felt hurt and sorry for Theresa for what he did and what he was doing, he could feel and see the sadness in Theresa but still she continued and stayed. As he just endured it all as he only thought it would be the best for both of them that way and the entire family.

But what Theresa did not know was that Sebastian had a lot of things in his heart and mind at that very moment that he has been meaning to tell her but instead kept it within himself. He wanted to ran away with her, he wants to embrace her, kiss her and adore her. His heart has been shouting for her name, but for the sake of both their families, business he has to keep it all and suck it up.

The business life was the path destined and written for him and that was what his father had instilled and thought him, and that broke Sebastian.

Just as the ceremony came to an end, Sebastian and Theresa were greeted and congratulated by everyone. Sebastian tried his best to keep himself calm but Theresa manage to feel the uneasiness of the situation in Sebastian’s face.

Despite the distance and neglect Sebastian gave Theresa the past years, Theresa somehow tried her best to reach out to Sebastian as often as she can, she tried her best to figure out what she did wrong for him to do such sudden change. She begged and she is still willing to do it for him.

As more guests were starting to talk and come over them, Theresa suddenly spoke when it was time for Cindy and Rupert to congratulate them.

“Rupert, can you please tell the guest to wait for us at the dinner hall instead. We will continue greeting them there.” Theresa suddenly spoke as she looked at Rupert and smiled. She then turned her gaze to Cindy who was about to say something to her.

“Theresa, this is your wedding day! Don’t be to mean. These, all these is part of it.” Cindy reminded her as she gently pointed at the people around.

“I am not being mean. It’s just that- “ Theresa paused as she looked at Sebastian who was already looking at her with his brows raised. “I mean, I don’t feel well. Can you accompany me to my room please.” Theresa added as she stood up and held Cindy’s hand.

“Wait! Theresa, Sebastian can accompany you. I mean what’s to hide he is your husband already.” Rupert suddenly spoke as Cindy threw a punch at him.

Cindy who noticed and understood what Theresa was trying to do, agreed with Theresa’s request without hesitation.

“I’ll go 1st, have some rest as well.” Theresa spoke to Sebastian as she bowed her head and left the 2 gentlemen in shock.

As soon as they left, Theresa was very quiet the entire time as Cindy halted and typed a message to Rupert.

“You know your friend and you are too insensitive and ignorant! Hit him with some senses! He can’t just treat my friend like that after he showed up in their wedding like a forced man! My friend has feelings too Rupert!” Cindy typed angrily as she pressed send and ran towards Theresa who was already a few steps ahead of her.

“Theresa wait. What happen? Are you okay?” Cindy asked as she grabbed Theresa’s arm making her stop in her steps.

But as she looked back at Cindy, tears have already fallen from Theresa’s eyes.

Cindy then held Theresa’s hands and tried to console her.

“What did he do to you now, I could really kill him!”

“Nothing- he did nothing at all. And it hurts like hell Cindy." Theresa paused as more tears kept falling like big drops of rain as she took a deep breath. "I love him and I should be glad he came, he fulfilled the promise he made to my dad. But-“ Theresa paused again as she sighed and took a deep breath. “He is not happy, I can see it. I can feel it. He hated the fact we were sitting there talking and faking smiles to our guests. Even if he will not say it, but I know! I know-“ Theresa added as she broke down.

“Theresa, I’m sorry for talking you through to continue the wedding. I should have listened to you and your feelings. I just did not expect he would still continue to act cold and arrogant to you.” Cindy answered as she held Theresa’s hand tight.

“No, I should have not forced him and reminded him. Oh damn it! Damn this feelings. I was t engrossed in loving him that I did not think about his feelings.” Theresa sighed as she let go of Cindy.

“Please help Rupert settle the guests, I’ll go back to my room for a moment.”

“Let me go with you instead.” Cindy answered.

“No, you are more needed there. I- I can take care of myself. I want to be alone for a moment. I’ll just go back in a while.” Theresa answered as she pulled her ball gown skirt up and walked away from Cindy who was left alone hurt and confused for what Theresa was going through.

Back at the lounge where Theresa and Sebastian welcomed their guests, Sebastian somehow knew why Theresa suddenly made the decision she just did. He knew very well that she sensed his annoyance and irritation and immediately he felt stupid for doing so.

"I could have atleast acted happy or gave the chance for today for my feelings to come out. Just for today." Sebatian though to himself. "But I can't give Theresa false hope as well. Damn it!"

Instead of going after her, he reassured himself that he was just doing the right thing. He needs to make her un-love him in order for her to get her freedom and be happy again. Or so he thought.

Just a few minutes after Theresa and Cindy left, Rupert received a message and immediately read it.

“Bro, Cindy is very pissed! You better straighten up yourself, you can’t just marry her and treat her like that.” Rupert suddenly spoke as he reread the message he received from Cindy.

Sebastian did not answer at all since he knew Rupert was right and instead jusr kept quiet.

“You can’t act like that in front of all your guests. You are marrying the only person who loved you the most next to your mom. Or perhaps more than your mom. And at the same time the sole Heiress of all Wilson’s assets. You just can’t be like that to her in front of everyone forever. Even though you are just fulfilling a promise but can you atleast act happy. Then if you really don’t want her, file a divorce or ask her to divorce you!” Rupert said angrily as he was put into a tight spot between Cindy and Sebastian.

Though Rupert knew all of Sebastian’s worry and reasons but he still can’t seem to understand why he has been acting like that to her all these years.

“You know I can’t divorce her! We can't! And you know I can’t love her anymore! I can’t make her happy and I can’t stand hurting her more if I let this stupid love come out!! This is not my path and hell she does not deserve it!” Sebastian suddenly stood up and shouted at Rupert.

“Listen to yourself! You are just eating your own words! If you can't do any of those then you should have given her to Wyatt instead! He loves her to death!" Rupert shouted back angrily, but it did not sit well with Sebastian as he grabbed Rupert by the collar.

"What the hell did you say?!"

"Bro! once again- the more you do that the more you are hurting her and yourself. Choose what you really want!” Rupert retaliated as Sebastian let go of Rupert.

“I’m going to the dinner hall. Act happy just for tonight, if not for Theresa atleast for your family and Theresa’s family’s sake.” Rupert added as he hurriedly left Sebastian who was still in rage over his self.
