After some time, the 2 decided to head to their next destination and this time it was to the largest public Library of Nation A.
Just as they got inside, Theresa was in awe.
“I have been passing through this building but I have never been to this place. I did not expect it to be this huge from the inside.” Theresa acclaimed as they were greeted by the staffs and Sebastian lead her to his favorite place.
“Of the entire place, here is where I love the best.”
It was on the 3rd floor of the building were comfy bean bag lounges were available beside the big clear glass wall.
“Why?” Theresa asked as she looked around.
“Because this is the least favorite place of most library goers. This is the history section and luckily it has the best lounge with a great view.”
Theresa then looked around more and laughed. “I see! You are very sneaky.”
Soon they settled on one spot as Sebastian got some books and as Theresa requested, he narrated the story on those books in the shortest possible way he could think.
As Sebastian was explaining to Theresa the last book, she suddenly interrupted him.
“You truly like your books don’t you?”
“You find it too boring right? I told you I am a very boring person.” Sebastian laughed as he answered Theresa.
“You are not, in fact I like hanging out with you. I mean no offense to my best friend Cindy, but sometimes she is just too afraid of me getting in danger so we don’t go out so much in public places.” Theresa paused and sighed. “It’s just sad I was only able get to know you just now.”
After Theresa said those things, everything came crashing down to Sebastian that he is leaving tomorrow already.
“I know right, if only I got brave enough to talk to you earlier on.” Sebastian mumbled softly but Theresa was quick to change the topic.
“Let’s not be regretful and sad now, we have few more hours left.” Theresa answered as she tapped Sebastian. “So where is our last stop?”
“Right! It’s almost time so I better bring you there.” Sebastian answered as she helped Theresa up and they headed back to the car.
For their last stop, Sebastian was unsure if Theresa would love the place but for some reason he wanted to bring her there. It was a huge flower garden with a restaurant at the middle of the field and a garden maze.
They arrived pretty earlier than they expected and Sebastian was happy that they could spend a much longer time there. Since it was still early Sebastian asked if Theresa wanted to try the garden maze, and Theresa’s adventurous side immediately kicked in.
They immediately headed to try it out, but as Theresa got in the entrance her fear of enclosed spaces started to hunt her and Sebastian was quick to notice it.
He then remembered very well that Theresa is claustrophobic, so he looked back at her and spoke. “I won’t force you, but if you really want to try hold my hand and I won’t let you go.” Sebastian assured her as he offered his hands towards Theresa.
Theresa then took a deep breath and reached out for Sebastian’s hands as he then held it tight.
As soon as they started walking inside the maze, Sebastian then felt Theresa’s anxiousness as she looked around worriedly.
“I have been here 1 time and somehow manage to get out easily. I think it would be much faster and easier this time.” Sebastian suddenly spoke making Theresa smile at him and nodded.
To keep her mind busy Sebastian started talking to Theresa about the history of the maze.
“Do you know why this maze was created?” Sebastian added as she looked back at Theresa who was walking a bit behind him while holding his hand.
“There is a story? I mean I thought this was only made for extra attraction.” Theresa answered as she laughed.
Sensing that Theresa started to easing up herself Sebastian then preceded with explaining to her how the maze came into reality.
“Yep, it’s kind the cheesy though but interesting.” Sebastian answered as he laughed faintly.
“Well, the owner of this place once loved a woman so dearly. In fact they even got married and had kids. His wife loved the garden so much specifically this area here. This was full of colorful and variety of flowers and at the center part of this area was the place favored by his wife the most.” Sebastian paused and glanced at Theresa who was listening earnestly to him.
“Unfortunately her wife died shortly after their 30th wedding anniversary due to an illness. Heartbroken and hurt, the man tore the place down not wanting to remember his wife and made a wall and locked the favored place his wife always stayed. Years passed and the man eventually died as well. Unknown to his children the man had secretly kept his wife favored place as it was, ever since she passed away. He would visit it once a week and keep it like how it is. One day when his children decided to develop the place they eventually found out their dad’s secret, they realized he never let go of their mom and somehow that place became his safe haven. So their children decided to keep their mom’s favored place and maintain it but to hide it from people they build this maze around it.”
“Wait, if they hid this from the people then why is it they are allowing people to get inside? I mean they are giving them opportunity to ruin or loiter their mom’s place which their dad kept well.” Theresa retaliated in confusion but Sebastian only laughed making Theresa wonder more.
“But do you know, of all the people who tried to come here only a few percentage can find the favored place of their mom, mostly ended up on the back entrance or just ended up going back instead.”
“Why? I mean is it that hard?”
“I am not sure as well, but they say destiny dictates who can only see the place their mom made.” Sebastian answered as he smiled.
But as Theresa was about to ask some more, she suddenly grasp and covered her mouth in shock.
“I think destiny wanted us to see the place too.” Sebastian spoke as he leaded Theresa inside.
There was a huge arch just outside with hanging curtain leaves on it and once you get inside there is a huge Yoshino Cherry Tree with white flowers on it in full bloom hovering above a park bench. But what makes the place extra special is that it was a literal bed of pastel flowers with tiny foot paths so not to step on the flowers. And the grass beneath the park bench was so green and soft that you could basically just lie down and not feel any itch.
It was like a garden that you could only see in your dreams and Sebastian can see how Theresa was truly taken aback by the sight she was seeing.
“We- we found it Sebastian.” Theresa remarked excitedly.
“I know.”
“Have you been here before too?”
“No, I was only able to get through the back entrance and I did not see this place at all. It’s also my 1st time and I guess they are right.”
Theresa looked at Sebastian with a confused look and asked. “What do you mean?”
“Do you know what this place is called?” Sebastian asked as Theresa shook her head. “They said the reason why the owner kept this hidden was because if destiny permits then true love will find its way to bring the people here, that’s why they called it the Maze of True Love.” Sebastian added as he laughed faintly.
“But you know how people make assumptions and –“ But before Sebastian could finish to defend himself afraid of what Theresa might think to his surprise Theresa seemed to have acknowledge and agree with him.
“Well, I don’t think it’s just assumptions. In fact, as cheesy and ironic as it sounds but I believe in destiny and true love.” Theresa answered as she blushed and smiled at Sebastian.
Hearing what Theresa said left Sebastian confused about what she truly meant. But somehow a part of him was silently hoping and praying she meant the both of them.
They stayed for a few more minutes as Theresa savored and enjoyed the view and place she was in.
As soon as they got off the maze, both Sebastian and Theresa were in high spirits as they will both keep the experience they had earlier as one of the memories they had.
After the thrill filled experience, Sebastian decided they finally head to the restaurant inside the garden that he has booked just for the 2 of them.
While they waited for their food, the 2 then casually conversed.
“Sebastian, can I ask you something?” Theresa suddenly asked out of nowhere.
“Sure, is there something wrong?” Sebastian asked worriedly, afraid that he had somehow dissatisfied her.
“No, but the places we went earlier and the things we did were the exact things I wanted to go, I wanted to do and I wanted to try. I know those were never yours. I wanted to see the sunrise, I wanted to try how it’s like to be a normal person, I wanted to go to a place I have never been before and I wanted to try an adventure I have never tried. All those earlier, were for me.” Theresa explained as she paused and looked at Sebastian who was smiling at her.
“I wanted us to try something you like, something you want to do and not about me. But why choose the things I like? I mean I won’t complain, like you never did. I just- just wanted to know you more.” Theresa added as she laughed faintly.
“Well, what we did earlier and the places we went was something we both wanted.” Sebastian answered calmly as Theresa gave him a questioning look.
“You see, the thing that I really wanted to do the most ever since I met you was to spend time with you and that’s just it. What I am to you know, what you are seeing is who I really am. So honestly speaking we just did what I have been meaning to do.”
Theresa did not answer and instead she just smiled and blushed as she bowed her head down. By the looks of it Sebastian already knew he had answered Theresa’s question pretty well.
Right after dinner the 2 roam around the well-lighted garden for a while under the bright shining moon. It was still 7 in the evening but it seemed the darkness was stronger this time than the light of the moon.
As they walked slowly side by side, Sebastian could not help but notice the quietness in Theresa.
“We’ve been walking around for some time but she
never said anything yet. Did I offend her?” Sebastian thought to himself.
“What should I say to her? I need to say something, I don’t want to send her home and leave tomorrow with this kind of ending.” Sebastian added as he sighed deeply.
He then took a deep breath and stopped in his steps as he called for her and grabbed Theresa’s hand.
“Theresa?” Sebastian called as Theresa stopped and looked back at him.
