A Memory
Stop! Leave me alone! “Why do you always bother me?” Ten-year-old Ariel says.
“Because we can what are you gonna do go tell your mommy?”
Shhh Ariel don’t cry they’re just bullies and have nothing better to do.
Everyone turns to Ariel’s best friend.
Hanna: Well look who it is the mutt. Zena.
What are you doing here mutt? Hannah leader of this dysfunctional club says
Zena: I was coming to play with my friend but it looks like y’all ruined it.
Alaina: OOPS! Alaina laughs
Zena: You are a bunch of bi…. Before she could complete her sentence she lifted her nose
What’s that smell?
Did one of you f… “Ariel snickers”
Hannah turns It wasn’t me. Alaina puts her hands up in defense.
Stacy frowns “I don’t smell anything” She looks annoyed.
*Just then a twig snap*
We all turned to see where the rotten smell was coming from.
A rogue!
Hannah sprinted away, her loyal minions trailing closely behind her. With a mix of hope and concern, she could only pray that they would have the sense to seek out help in their time of need. The urgency of the moment fueled their speed, each footfall echoing with a determination to overcome the challenges ahead. I wave my hand urgently towards Ariel, urging her to escape, but she stands frozen, her eyes wide with disbelief. Carefully, I start to step back towards her, the ground crunching softly beneath my feet. As I reach her, I gently pinch her arm, hoping the sudden sensation will break through the fog of shock that has engulfed her. The world around us feels like it’s closing in, and I know we need to act quickly. Her arm. I silently urged her to run as fast as she could. She nodded slowly, understanding the urgency. We took off, sprinting as fast as our legs could carry us, never daring to look back. I could hear the sound of paws pounding the ground and a menacing growl behind us, but there was no way I could stop. I knew he was just playing with us, and I refused to give in. I could hear him getting closer as nips at our legs. All of a sudden I hear howls and paws of who I knew in my pack. I pushed and told Ariel just a few more and we’ll be safe. I hear a snap and I look back for the first time to see he had her leg. I gasped as he struck his claw across her neck. ARIEL! I screamed! Just then the rogue was thrown into a tree by a Black wolf and dismantled by another. As I felt my consciousness slipping away, the world around me started to fade into darkness. The last image etched in my mind was of my dad, his face a blend of worry and determination. I could see the concern in his eyes, and it felt like he was reaching out for me, trying to hold on. His familiar presence was both comforting and haunting as I drifted further away from the moment.
