Author's POV
Sophia tried to keep up with Chris as he sprinted through the dark forest. She didn't understand what was happening, but she knew they were in danger.
Suddenly, a pack of snarling werewolves surrounded them, and Sophia knew that they were trapped. She tried to scream for help, but no one was around to hear her.
Chris transformed into his wolf form, ready to fight off the werewolves. Sophia watched in awe as he battled fiercely, dodging the attacking wolves with ease. She knew that he was a werewolf too, and her heart ached at the thought of him risking his life to save hers.
As the battle raged on, Sophia noticed one of the werewolves had its eyes on her. She tried to run, but it was too late. The werewolf tackled her to the ground, and Sophia felt herself losing consciousness.
When she woke up, she was in Chris's cabin, surrounded by candles. Chris was sitting next to her, watching her with concern in his eyes.
"Are you okay?" Chris asked, his voice filled with worry.
Sophia tried to sit up, but she was too weak. "What happened? Where am I?"
"You were attacked by a pack of werewolves," Chris said, his voice still filled with worry. "I managed to save you, but you were badly hurt. You've been unconscious for a while."
Sophia looked at him, feeling grateful for his bravery. "Thank you, Chris. But how did you know where to take me?"
Chris smiled sheepishly. "I've been keeping an eye on you. I knew that the werewolves were after you, and I couldn't risk losing you."
Sophia felt a wave of emotions washing over her - fear, confusion, but most of all, gratitude. She realized that Chris wasn't just persistent in pursuing her - he was also her protector.
"As long as you're safe, that's all that matters," Chris said, taking her hand in his.
Sophia smiled, feeling a connection growing between them. She didn't know what the future held for them, but she knew that she wanted Chris by her side, no matter what.
Sophia looked deep into Chris's eyes and felt her heart flutter. "I don't know what to say, Chris. You risked your life to save mine. Why? Why did you do that?"
Chris looked away, as if searching for the right words. "Because...because I care about you, Sophia. More than I should."
Sophia felt a lump forming in her throat. "But we barely know each other."
"I know," Chris said, his voice husky. "But I can't help the way I feel. You're different, Sophia. You're special. I feel like I've known you all my life."
Sophia felt tears welling up in her eyes. She hadn't expected to feel so moved by Chris's words. "Chris, I don't know what to say. I'm so confused."
Chris took her hand, his eyes pleading. "Please, Sophia. Just give us a chance. Let's see where this goes. I promise I'll be there for you, no matter what."
Sophia looked at him, feeling conflicted. She couldn't deny the attraction she felt for him, but she also couldn't deny the fear that lingered from the attack.
"I...I don't know, Chris. I need time to think about this. Can you understand that?"
Chris nodded, looking sad. "Of course. Take all the time you need, Sophia. But just know that I'll be here, waiting for you."
Sophia felt torn, wanting to embrace Chris but also needing space to process her emotions. She took a deep breath and said, "Thank you, Chris. I'll think about what you've said."
Chris nodded, his eyes full of understanding. "Take care, Sophia. And please, be careful. The werewolves are still out there."
Sophia nodded, feeling grateful for Chris's concern. As she left his cabin, she knew that she had a lot to think about, but one thing was certain - Chris had become an important part of her life, and she felt a deep connection with him that she couldn't ignore.
Sophia spent the next few days reflecting on her feelings for Chris and the danger that came with them. She couldn't shake the fear of the werewolves, but at the same time, she found herself drawn to Chris's bravery and caring nature.
Finally, she made a decision. She couldn't let fear dictate her life, and she didn't want to lose out on the chance of a deeper connection with Chris. She decided to take a chance.
She went to Chris's cabin and found him outside, chopping wood. He greeted her with a smile, but she could see the worry in his eyes.
"Sophia, are you alright? What did you decide?"
Sophia took a deep breath. "Chris, I've been doing a lot of thinking. And I realized that life is too short to let fear hold me back. I want to take a chance on us. I want to see where this goes."
Chris's face lit up with joy and relief. "Sophia, I can't tell you how happy that makes me. I promise to keep you safe and protect you, no matter what."
Sophia smiled, feeling a wave of relief wash over her. "Thank you, Chris. I know there's still danger out there, but I feel more at ease knowing that you're with me."
I felt a little taken aback by his words but still felt insecure at the fact that he still had a lot of secrets I knew nothing about.
