Olahe
‘Do we really have to go?’ Hunter asked her mum as she put the bags in the car.
‘Ya grandma’s house is boring’ said Alex from the car window. ‘Why can’t we stay with you guys?’
‘Because your dad and I have to go on a business trip and plus your Gran is looking forward to having guys’, said Mrs Smith.
‘Her house smells of old people’, said Alex.
‘Your Gran moved she now stays in the Olahe’, said Mr Smith closing the door to the house and walking towards the car, ‘Ready to go guys?’
‘Whatever’ said Hunter getting into the car and slamming the door.
Mr and Mrs Smith got in the car. The drive to Olahe took 3 hours and there was silence in the car. Alex was playing video games while Hunter listened to music.
‘Welcome to Olahe, the most peaceful town I know’, said Mr Smith from the driving wheel, ‘You guys will love it.’
Alex looked out the window, the place looked so lifeless there was absolutely no one on the streets, and almost all the shops were closed. They were trees everywhere almost like it was a forest.
‘This place looks weird’, said Alex.
‘What do you mean honey?’ asked Mrs Smith.
‘There trees everywhere, it looks like they build the houses ain the forest ‘said Alex still looking out the window.
‘Well that’s because Olahe is located in Luele jungle Alex’ said Mr Smith. ‘O look were here’.
"Yay snakes", Alex said.
Mr Smith drove the car in the driveway of the house and hooted. A woman came out of the door looking surprised at the car in the driveway.
‘Mother’ said Mr Smith getting out of the the car and going to hug her.
‘Your late, you were supposed to be here 2 hours ago’ said his mum, ‘What’s the excuse this time?’
‘Your granddaughter happened’ said Mrs Smith, ‘I’m so glad to see you.’
Mrs Smith hugged her Mother-in-law. Mr Smith headed to the car and started taking the bags in the house.
‘Hunter we’re here’ said Alex shaking Hunter
Hunter removed her headsets and looked around, then at Alex. She sighed
‘Well let’s go,’ said Hunter opening the door and jumping out the car Alex followed her.
‘Grams", said Hunter going to hug her grandma.
‘Hunter, Alex you’ve both grown so big’, said Grams ‘And what’s with hair? Is that blue’.
‘I dyed my hair blue, said Hunter ‘Well some parts anyway’. She held a lock of her hair.
‘Okay I’ve put all the bags in the house’ said Mr Smith, ‘we better get going honey".
‘Okay guys see you we’ll miss you so much", said Mrs Smith hugging Hunter and Alex. ‘Be good.’
"Cant say the same about you", Hunter told them.
"You might be ice cold", Mr Smith told her. "But we'll learn to love you eventually".
"Honey", said Mrs Smith. "Dont listen to him honey. We love you both as much".
Mr and Mrs Smith headed to the car and got in.Hunter and Alex watched their parents drive off and disappear. They both turned and looked at their grandmother.
‘Well come in kids’ said Grams turning and entering the house.
‘Olahe here we come’ said Alex.
‘I hope your ready for us’ said Hunter looking at Alex, she turned and entered the house.
‘You mean you, right?’ asked Alex following her.
‘What are you trying to say?’ asked Hunter as they climbed the stairs ‘That I’m a trouble maker’
‘You said it not me’ said Alex.
They found Grams standing by a door they stood and looked at her. Hunter folded her arms over her chest.
‘Hunter this your room’ said Grams pointing at the door ‘And Alex yours is the next one’
‘Thank God’ said Hunter touching her chest and sighing ‘I thought I was gonna have to share a room with him like the last time’
‘Different house darling’ said Grams ‘Well supper will be ready soon’
‘Great I’m starving’ said Hunter
‘You had a burger on the way here’ said Alex looking at her.
‘I don’t recall telling you how to eat’ Hunter told him.
‘Well you guys unpack’ said Grams leaving them.
‘Our bags are downstairs’ said Alex looking at the stairs.
‘If you carry my bags I promise not kill you for waking me up’ said Hunter.
‘Deal’ said Alex rushing downstairs.
After a while Alex had managed to get their bags upstairs and he was out of breath. He sunk to the floor and looked at Hunter. Hunter just smiled, grabbed her bags and entered her room.
‘Ungrateful witch’ said Alex standing up.
‘I heard that!’ shouted Hunter from inside her room.
Alex quickly grabbed his bags and entered his room. He locked the door and threw himself on the bed. He sat up and quickly went to unpacking his suitcase, he put all his clothes and shoes in the wardrobe, he put his laptop, headphones, phone and books he carried to read on the table near the window. He looked out the window at the trees and decided to go downstairs. He found Grams and Hunter already sited at the table.
‘Finally’ said Hunter putting her phone down as he sat ‘What took you so long? It’s not like you were bathing’
‘Unlike you I like to pack my things neat and not throw them around’ said Alex.
Hunter burst out laughing, ‘Good one, I almost believed you there for a second’.
‘Fine let’s go check the rooms and see whose is neater", said Alex.
‘No need’ said Hunter ‘I give you tomorrow and it will look like mine’.
Alex just started eating and ignored his sister the whole time, he instead talked to Grams while Hunter was on her phone and eating. After supper Hunter and Alex cleaned up then Hunter went to her room while Alex remained watching TV with Grams.
