Everlast

Alexis Chanda looked out of the window of her father's old pagero car,it used to look silver but she had no idea what color it was now. She had never been out of the city, she looked at the bushes in suspense.

"Are you okay?" David asked.

"Am fine." She smiled at her big brother who was looking straight ahead. He had always been a careful driver but ever since their fathers death, he was unstable.

" I wish I didn't have to bring you here but it's the best I could afford. They say it's a good school." David mattered.

"yeah." Alexis murmured.

Her life had gone from perfect to uncertainty in such a short period that she wasn't sure it was real. When her father died from a mysterious accident just a few weeks ago, everything around her life shifted.

"I am trying." David when on.

"I know."

"I couldn't have guessed that Dad was broke."

" No one could have known."

" I don't understand how he could do this to us?"

" Do what?" She looked at her brothers angry profile.

"keep us in the dark."

" Maybe he thought he would find a way out ."

"A way out! He lost everything!"

"At least we still have the house." Alexis knew her brother was overwhelmed with the responsibility of taking care of her. He was only twenty, he had not planned on being her guardian.

"My life is over!"

She knew David could no longer go back to college.Their father spend his college money. She felt sorry for him because he had never learned to do any work. Their father had provided them a comfortable life.

" We will get through this." She said.

"I hate bringing you here but we have no choice."

She loved him for caring.
