Chapter Three: Communications Expert

2208 Words
Rheya POV “Hell, no Rheya!” Zachariah said as he held his wife’s hand. Zach’s wife was the wonderful Iris, a fairy, who’s power was extreme beauty and an odd persuasiveness about her. Which why she was perfect for the role of communications to other packs. She stood at barely 5 feet tall with a small and slender frame, making her look like a child next to Zach, who had really grown into himself. Her hair was a pale blonde color, and her round eyes were an emerald green color with hints of gold in them. Her ears came to a point, which was one of the things I didn’t believe would be true. “Zach, she’ll be protected. Amara and I will go with her, nothing will happen.” Natalie said. “Rheya, I can’t…I just can’t let her go into not just one but three unknown packs territory.” Zach said desperately. I heard him and understood his concern, but this was something we needed to do. “You won’t let me?” Iris asked him before I had a chance to respond to him in any way. “My Priix, you know what I mean.” He said once he realized how he messed up. Before Iris joined us, she was held captive by a mad man in her realm, forced to be a concubine of his. So, because of her past, she didn’t take to kindly to being told her limitations on things. “I am not weak Zachariah, my small stature and gentle soul may lead you to believe otherwise, but it is simply not that way. I am strong enough to do this or I will die trying. Can’t you see this family withers away every day that Nevaeh is not near? I will do anything to bring back that precious child. This pack will fall without her and we cannot have that.” She said firmly to him. Zach just hung his head and nodded. He really had no choice, it was hard to say no to your mate, especially one as convincing as her. Once she was briefed on the plan, she left, getting angry was not in her nature so anytime it happened she had to reconnect with the earth and realign herself. “Rheya, my sister, please keep my mate safe.” He said to me. “I will brother, she will make it back.” I said to him. He gave me a solemn nod before following her, I’m assuming to make up with her. A few minutes had passed before one of the warriors came in and spoke, “Alpha, your sister has arrived.” A smile spread across my face. Aaliyah was the only sibling who hadn’t stayed at the pack. She ended up being mated to Vincenzo, the newest Alpha of the Sapphire pack. His older brother Giovanni had passed during a savage battle 3 years back, passing the position down Vincenzo. At the funeral, Liyah and Vin found each other. It really couldn’t have been more perfectly timed, she really helped put him back together. It was hard to schedule time to see her since their pack was roughly 9 hours away, but she always made it a point to come to the ball every year. I hurried out of my office and rushed down to the front door. “Sister!” Aaliyah screamed once she saw me. I walked towards her and we embraced. After a few moments I heard a very faint but familiar sound, if I had been any louder, I would have missed it. I leaned out of the hug and looked at Liyah’s face. “Are you…?” I began to ask. “Pregnant?” She said and I nodded. She gave me a small smile and nodded her head. “Oh my gosh sister, congratulations! How far?” I asked her as I hugged her again. “7 weeks.” She said as she lightly patted her belly where a bump would soon form. My heart fluttered with happiness. Aaliyah had always wanted children, and she was the most deserving of a child. “Ahhh, so I see we aren’t waiting to tell everyone?” Vin asked as he walked up. He leaned forward and embraced me in a hug and kissed both my cheeks. “Well, you can’t hide anything from Rheya. She hears everything.” She said in a giggle before reaching down and attempting to grab her suitcase, but Vin stopped her. He kissed her gently before grabbing it and heading inside, saying hello to the family on the way in. “So, any new information?” She asked me as we headed inside. I explained everything to her about the plan before we were interrupted by Iris. Everyone thought Liyah and I were close, but these two were inseparable. “Kekyiu!” {Sister!} Iris yelled as she enveloped Liyah into a huge hug. Normally these two would’ve tackled each other on the ground, but Iris was oddly gentle. She released herself from the hug and placed her hand on Liyah’s stomach before closing her eyes. A moment passed before she began to talk again. “Girl, born on June 8th, 9 pounds 6 ounces.” She said very promptly. “Is that a fact?” I asked her in a laugh. “No! Just a guess!” She said with a sly smile. We both knew it was more than a guess, however. We made our way into the dining room where we sat for dinner. It was nice to have everyone at the table. Well, almost everyone. “Devika, come back to me baby.” Leo said as he gently squeezed my hand. I turned to him and gave him a reassuring smile. I came back to reality and joined back into the conversation with my family. Enjoying my time with them. *2 days later* Rheya POV “Okay my priix, get in and get out, don’t causing too much riff.” Zach said as he kissed Iris gently on her lips. “I know. I can do this Owahei.” She said as she put her forehead to his. They sat in silence for a minute before she leaned back and turned to me. “Okay, Alpha. I am ready.” I nodded to Natalie and Amara who had just finished saying goodbye to their children and mates. Amara climbed into the driver seat of the vehicle. We decided that the more people we sent the less the packs would get the message of peace. So, since Amara never slept, she would be the driver and Natalie went as security. “Link if you need anything. Let me know when you get to each pack.” I said before they shut the doors and began their 6-hour drive to the first and closest pack. It was almost midnight; the only way Amara could travel safely. I headed to training to see how my children were doing in all their trainings. Or rather how Ben was handling my rambunctious ones. Iris POV “Okay, Natalie. Where are we off too first?” I asked. “Firstly, the Blood Pack. They are closest and are swaying towards joining us first, so we figured there first to get a win and some confidence before we head to the more stubborn ones.” She replied as she handed me a folder. I opened it to reveal a source of information about the pack and the leader. Everything from his Alpha life and childhood were there. It was neat but I didn’t need it. I didn’t need to read information about people to appeal to them, it was my talent to get people to listen to me. “Thank you, but this is not a need for me.” I said to her and she shrugged as she took the file back and flipped through it some more. I could learn more about a person just looking into their eyes, that I could ever reading about them. The eyes were the window to the soul, and I knew my way in. I spent the first two hours of the ride meditating, finding my inner peace. Then I climbed into the front seat against Amarantha’s wished and began to attempt a conversation with her. “Honey, you are very much helpful to this pack and I love you like family, but you give me headaches.” She said after I talked for a few minutes. For some reason, my kind gave vampires adverse reactions, they seem to hear my voice as a shrill screech. I figured it was because we are at opposing ends of the universe. Fae are kind souled and gentle, whereas vampires destroyed humans and their souls were lost. But Amarantha was a beautiful being, so I never understood why she was still ill around me. I wanted to be friends with her, learn about her past and culture, but this block made our relationship difficult. “My apologies, I will leave you to the drive.” I said as I scrambled back into the back seat. “Your time with her over already?” Natalie said as she looked up from her papers. “Sadly yes, Amarantha has a headache from my voice.” I said. She looked at me confused. “Amarantha?” She asked me and I nodded. “Your full name is Amarantha?” Natalie called out to her. Amarantha turned around and gave me a grumpy look. “How did you learn my full name? I know damn well Dean didn’t tell you and Rheya would never!” “I told you guys part of my gift is knowing things.” I called back to her. She huffed and turned around, murmuring some angry comments. Natalie bust out laughing and I joined her. Then it happened. Our vehicle was suddenly hit. In the blink of an eye, Amara was in the back seat, covering Natalie and I to protect us. Despite her best efforts, my head was hit, causing me to lose consciousness. When I came too, I was lying under the door of the Tahoe. I heard a series of noises and managed to push the door off me to look. I hide behind the rubble of the vehicle, the completely totaled Tahoe. It was Natalie in her wolf form fighting, I recognized her aura. A few yards from her was Amara fighting as well, thankfully it was dark enough that she wouldn’t get hurt. I looked around to find a total of 10 men or should I say wolves, three of which were already dead. After a few moments one of the wolves shift back into human form. He pulled a knife from somewhere and I watched as he used it against Natalie. She howled out in pain as the man rammed the knife into her shoulder for the second time. She continued to try and fight but with the injury she was quickly taken over. Amara was distracted by Natalie’s cries of pain and was then caught off guard by the men surrounding her. The same man with a knife appeared in front of Amara with a wooden stake. One of few things that can kill her. She was taken over as quickly as Natalie, and they pinned her to the ground. Another man quickly came up and clamped shut chains around her wrists and ankles. I wasn’t sure what it was made of, but I could almost see the smoke rising as it burned her skin. Natalie was already unconscious and thrown into the bed of a nearby truck. Amara sensed my presence and look directly at me as they lifted her up. “Run!” She mouthed to me. I couldn’t tear my eyes away from her as they carted her away. She mouthed to me to run again before she was completely thrown into the same vehicle as Natalie. The men stopped for a moment and seemed to be celebrating. I wanted to try and catch a look at a few to be able to show Alpha. Another truck pulled up and out of the passenger seat came a man who seemed to be the leader. He stopped the celebrations and began barking orders. I stared at him for as long as I could, committing every part of him to memory. As much as I wanted to help my sisters, I knew the best way to do that would be to stay back. So, I waited until most of the men had their backs turned and took off in a dead sprint. It was only a few hundred yards until the tree line started and I could hide easily. I knew running was a bad idea, as I had to clue where we were. My best bet was to stay by the vehicles, eventually my family would be coming for us. I created a small hut for me to sit into, where I pulled my knees to my chest and let out a small cry. I just had to keep the idea in my head that my family would be here soon.
