As I walked toward the forest for my morning run, I saw a few of my pack members having blue eyes. I heard a few wondering what was going. I smiled inward, as I was no longer alone in having blue eyes and a wolf in me. Entering the woods, I just walked around for a while. Until reached the place that held my first shift. I leaned on a tree, looking at the water not far away, remembering all the times I had come to this place, as it only smelled of me. This was my place away from the pack, away from being different. I remember the stories Avye would tell me about lycans. I remember my favorite story, how lycans came to be.
It was almost like I could hear Avye elegant voice telling me the story, even though many years have gone by.
Long ago, when the humans were scared of the dark, when vampires and witches ruled the shadows, the wolf had yet to bond to a human. Until the day that a girl came falling into a wolf’s den, covered in blood and bite marks. She weakly stood up, trying to run again, as it became clear this white haired child, was going to die. She pushed herself up enough to turn to the wolves, her eyes as blue as the sky. The eldest wolf looked at her, seeing she was trying to say something to her.
Then the smell of death filled the air around them. The girl started to cry, though the wolves couldn’t understand why. They began to growl at the smell. Soon there was a while glow standing just above den. Pointing to the girl, her face full of tears, shaking with a fear the wolves could smell. Then the white glow attacked the girl, her heart beat was slowing down, and the wolves, growled again, before the eldest wolf attacked the glow, biting its neck. When the wolf’s teeth dug into the white glow, there was a scream from it, almost human. Though it didn’t die that day, it did flea form the woods, only after clawing the wolf, and almost killing it.
Though the girl laid dying on their land. The elder wolf walked over to her, with the last of its strength, begged the guardians of the Earth to save her, she seemed to be put a pup. As the two laid dying, a witch stepped from the woods.
The guardians had requested her to heal the two souls the only way that they could be healed, by bring them together. The elder wolf’s soul meant the girl’s soul. At the time, the wolf had to adopt the human, and to do that was for both to reach death and come back bonded together.
Some place that was close to death but still far away, the two souls sat. The white haired human girl facing a white furred white. After some time, the girl reached out her hand, to fill the wolf’s fur, and though the wolf did growl at first, the girl was able to touch the wolf.
There was a warm that linked the two together after that they opened their eyes, being in one body’s. The girl looked around, hearing the wolves asking where Rayne’s body was. Then the witch, turned, leaving the wolves to understand what just took place. The girl looked around at the wolves, realized that her body no longer was hurting her, and slowing her wounds were healing her.
After a moment the wolves began to growl at her, saying that she used Rayne’s body to heal herself with the witch’s help. The girl began to shake again, fearing her life was going to end again. When she looked to the sky, getting ready to beg for her life, she saw a full moon.
The first word that was ever spoke between a wolf and its human was “Beautiful.” Then there was a snapping of bone. The girl screamed out in pain, she screamed out thinking she was going to die from that pain. Until before the wolves was a white furred wolf, the one the others were calling Rayne.
Soon my morning run was gone from my mind, as I couldn’t help thinking about how mates came into our world. It wasn’t as pretty as people would want to believe. It wasn’t love at first sight. Eva’s story was very full of blood, from the near death that her a lycan, to her own death, though there is no record of that event.
The wolves kept the girl with them, discovered her name was Eva, and they trained her. Teaching her to hunt for her meals, how to use to her wolf gifts of sight and sound. How to understand which each smell was. And then she learned that wolves only have one mate for their life. And the way they learn is by smell, and a pull. Something Rayne had never felt in all her time with the pack.
There was a day when the pack was talking about how after sixteen years, they were glad she finally connected with someone, even though that someone changed her. Eva stated that the day she met her new family was her sixteen birthday, when her mother sold her to a vampire to leave her village alone.
The only time she would go near the village was in wolf form, and only on a full moon. The moon seemed to hide Rayne’s white fur from the humans. After years was watching them, there was a night, a smell caught Eva’s attention. She looked around for it, it reminded her of a midsummer’s rain. She followed the smell, and found a man, a lumberjack, hard at work away from the village, Rayne whispered to Eva that there was a pull, something in her saying to go to this man.
Neither of them could understand why they had a pull to anyone. As they watched him, the wolves cried when the alpha wolf was attacked by a lone wolf. Avye let out a soft whine at the howls. The guy in the woods looked to the sound, causing Eva to step away. She hadn’t been around human like her in so long, she had to keep her being alive a secret. He looked at her, seeing her white hair, knowing which family she must be part of.
There was a c***k from the tree he had been working on cutting down, and before either of them could react, the tree fell, crushing him. Hearing him yell in pain, Rayne and Eva moved in time together arriving at him almost the same moment his voice filled the air. Then together they removed the tree from him. Once they knew he was still breathing, they took him to their family. They felt in their heart, they had to protect him, they had to keep him save.
When they arrived, the lone wolf was dead, but their alpha had fallen down, weak from the fight. When Eva arrived, she let her human near the den that Rayne built with her. The alpha fought to stand up, walking over the Eva, feeling that was where he was needed.
Eva ran to his side when he fall again by her. Rayne was crying with the rest of the pack. Eva, held his neck, her hand petting his neck, becoming covered in blood.
Maybe the guardians took pity on the girl with a wolf, because the witch arrived once more looking at the human girl. Once more stating she was there to save both the human and the wolf. The same as she did with Eva and Rayne.
When the Alpha and the human woke, they looked at the other human, when Rayne whispered a word that confused Eva, “Mate.” The male looked at her, holding out his hand, asking her to accept him, so they reached out and took his hand.
I let out a sigh, taking a sit under the tree I had been leaning on. This was a story that I was raised, the first werewolf and lycan was the same. They didn’t different until Eva’s and Jacob’s youngest son, Matthew. Matthew had a mate, name Rose, as his nine siblings. The only difference was he was able to recognize her without her being close to death, and she was happy to be with Matthew for all their life, but she wanted to remain human.
Matthew’s siblings all met their mates when they were near death as well as when a wolf was also near death. The witch would return, to bond the two souls into a single person. With all the first lycans, until the tenth generation did the witch just appear to bond a wolf with a human, and only at the point of death. After than lycans were able to meet their mate easier within the ranks of other lycans without cross any i****t lines.
With Matthew and his mate, they had many children of their own, and because their lives started with a human barring his children, these children would be the first true werewolves. And their family would follow the way of their family. They would married their human mate, and have more children, until the tenth generation, when the wolves find mates within their own ranks.
The siblings broke the world into the ten parts, each having packs within their parts. Matthew’s family took over what would become the United States, though the families did travel between, so that there would be lycans to protect the werewolves and for the werewolves to have learn from lycans. Well lycans were stronger, werewolves were above and beyond loyal.
Avye quietly reminded me of what else had happened with the tenth generation.
A great war broke out in the supernatural world. Vampires wanted to take humans as blood slaves, to use them for their twist desires of lust. All the children of Eva and Jacob knew that it was a vampire that cause their kind to come into the world, and so they had to fight against this.
The vampires were being led by the same vampire that had attacked Eva, Sir Adam. He didn’t start his war with the weak, they would be easy picking. He knew he needed to get the lycans out of the way. Though that wouldn’t be easy, as the only being that could go to par was the werewolves that had mates that were lycans. Which, there were far and few between.
During that tenth generation, there were only five children of werewolf and lycan mated parents. When all five went missing, the wolves knew they had to stop the vampires. The war that followed all but destroyed the witches, and the vampires. When it ended, only werewolves were left in numbers that didn’t change much from before. They become the peace keepers of the supernatural world. But with the five hybrid children, the lycans became came so few in number it was believe they no longer existed.
After some time, I turned my head to look toward my pack’s village, remembering what Mother had added to the story just the night before.
The five however fake their own death, and with the help of a small pack of werewolves where about to live out their lives in mostly peace. When the first hybrid became a parent, the other four agreed with them to seal there truth, keep their blood line alive until they were need or could rise up again. The bond their wolves, and only the strongest of their descendant would have signs of their history, blue eyes or a white wolf.
Over time, a descendant mated to the alpha family becoming the first official Luna of the lycan line. And with her, the legacy would be passed down, as ever female from then on would be a white wolf, and would always have daughter to pass the lycan blood through.
With the lycan blood and the alpha blood mixing, this Opal Pack became one of the most recognized packs in the world for the fierce loyalty it held and the unmatched strength that came from it. With that loyalty and strength, the also grew in numbers, coming close to five hundred in pack members, though the estate land we live on would never show that. Some of the pack lives in the near back human city, keep control of our businesses, and keeping ears out for any vampire or negative witch movement.
With the growing Opal Pack, many years back, the wolves decided that it would be best to appoint an Alpha King, as to make it a law that pack on pack wars would be banned, and anyone involved would be put to death. All the alphas would enter a no kill tournament and the one still would be the king. The Opal Pack surprised all the packs, when they refused to join, but vowed their loyalty to the winner as they would be king.
The wolf that won was name granted the name Conri, which became the surname to his family. The title was place to the strongest son of the king, and if he had only daughters, to the strongest mate of his daughters, with only the Luna Queen’s child being an heir.
There had been one king who only had daughters, and the strongest mate wanted only power. When his Luna couldn’t give him a child, he rejected her, and tried to place his second chance child on the throne. That child’s word was never as strong as his cousin and so a challenge was placed, and the cousin took the throne. It was determined only a blood member of the family could be take the throne.
With a sign, I stood up, stretching my arms above my head, before a smell called to me. It was a midsummer’s rain. My head turned to see where the smell was coming from, and met black eyes with a glow of violet to them.
