Chapter 30

CHAPTER THIRTY

“Is there any update on the situation In earth?” Lucifer asked a demon who was beside him, “the earthquake seems not to stop as it’s intensity seems to increase” the demon replied. “Tell the men to retract, there is no need waiting at the boundary. Tell Reckon to bring the men back” he said and the demon left his presence.

“This earthquake has really lasted for a long time now, 5 hours now and it doesn’t seem to stop” Aza spoke to Dinia as they embraced each other wishing for the earthquake to stop soon, “I feel for humans, this is really affecting them don’t you think?” Dinia asked him, “well, I think so but we too are also affected by it even though we were pre-informed.” Aza replied.

“I just hope after tomorrow, Lucifer is going to stop this his pursuit and revenge against us?” she asked him feeling worried, “I hope so too, because the Lucifer we know won’t give up that easily” Aza answered. “Do not worry love, we will get through anything together” he added rubbing her back slowly.

Elias who was in his room could no longer stay at a place, as he became restless, walking around in the room. He thought what tomorrow will hold, how long the battle would be and the amount of casualties that would result from this fight. His heart beat faster each time he thought about the number of demons that might flood earth. “Are we going to have a chance of the whole of hell floods earth?” he asked himself

“Maybe heaven has a backup plan and didn’t reveal to us” he thought, “I feel so anxious and scared. I wish this earthquake wouldn’t stop”. Looking at the wall clock in front of him, which ticked 7:50pm, “it’s almost over, the D-Day is almost here” he said looking at his hands, “I hope I’ve gotten my strength back”.

The armies of demons were back in hell, each wondering why the retreat. Well they couldn’t ask questions but wondered among themselves. Reckon who was confused on why his master called off the attack went to meet him. He needed clarification and he was sure he was the only one permitted to ask questions at times like this.

Finding Lucifer at the hallway leading to the cell rooms, he bowed and said calmly, “the soldiers are back my lord”, “okay” Lucifer replied as he examined the bars of one of the cells, “may I ask why the sudden change of heart and why you ask us to return?” Reckon asked, “isn’t obvious? We can’t march to earth in the midst of an earthquake. We’ll have more casualties even before we have a chance to face Elias”, the devil replied. 

“So what should we do? Do you have any plan?” Reckon asked again, “there is no need for an army, we’ll take few men.” Lucifer replied, “once the earthquake stops, we storm earth” he added. “Yes sir” Reckon replied smiling. “Make sure you select the best men for this job” Lucifer advised, “I will my lord” reckon replied bowing out.

The sun’s light pierced Elias’ skin, waking him up. He rolled to the other side of the bed avoiding the rays, trying to get back to sleep, when suddenly he opened his eyes wide, “the earthquake has stopped” he said out loud, and hurriedly got out of bed and checked the window. “oh no!” he exclaimed discovering the mess the earthquake made on the streets. “it would take a lot of time and money to repair the damages” he said.

Just then he heard his name, it was Aza calling, urgency was heard in his voice, “Elias! Elias!! Wake up!”, he came knocking at the door with great force. “I’m awake already” Elias replied from the other side of the door, walking to open it.

“Do you feel any different?” Aza asked Elias who was now standing in front of him, “no? Why ask?” Elias replied. “Nothing at all?” Aza asked again, “Aza, I feel just like yesterday, nothing new” Elias replied. “s**t!” Aza cursed, “we are left alone again, Lucifer is going to tear us up” he said bitterly.

“Calm down Aza, it’s too early to conclude and feel disappointed” Elias said tapping his shoulder before pulling him for a hug, “the day just began, let’s just have a bath and prepare for anything” He advised his friend. “Okay” Aza replied detaching himself from the hug, “I’ll do just that”, he added leaving Elias.

Elias closed his door, “first thing first, shower and get dressed” he said to himself pulling off his pyjamas and heading to the bathroom.

Aza who just entered his room found Dinia awake and calm. She was looking at her hands. Beside her was a broken table, “Babe you’re awake” he said as he went to her, not noticing the broken table till he got close. “what happened here? How did you break it?” he asked.

“I don’t know, I can’t say, all I know is that I rested my hands on the table and then this” she said pointing at the table. “Hope you didn’t hurt yourself?” he asked, taking her hands into his and examining it. “Nothing, I didn’t feel a pain” she said, “no signs of injury too” Aza added. “Does this mean?” Dinia said, about asking before she was interrupted by Aza, “you’ve gotten super strength” .

“Yes!” She screamed in amazement, throwing herself on the bed, “finally” she said feeling so happy. “Why haven’t I gotten mine?” Aza asked sadly, this statement made Dinia sit up on the bed, wrapped her hands around him and said, “You will have yours soon honey, just be patient.” Aza nodded his head sadly, that answer was not enough for him. He stood up and left the room quietly.

Elias had dressed into a suit, when his phone rang, “Hey Rows” he said after picking the phone, “hope you are ready for today?” Rowland asked, “well, yes and to tell you the truth, I am all dressed” Elias replied. “Wow! That’s nice. You really are prepared” Rowland said. “like I have a choice” Elias scoffed.

“Remember Rowland, do not leave your house no matter what” Elias reminded him, “off course, I don’t want to encounter any demon” Rowland replied laughing. “Have your powers been given to you?” Rowland asked, “I don’t feel an different but I have no choice than to believe I have” Elias replied getting up. “Just take care and be brave” Rowland said. Elias laughed before replying, “I always am”.
