Blake's life goes from bad to worse. After waking up one morning as Lila, with her hair and her eyes glowing bright gold, Blake is forced to make a major readjustment to her life; a major readjustment that doesn't just affect her school, but adds further pressure on her relationship with Alexander which is on a standstill. She ditched him to go on a date with another boy and so going completely cold on her, she and Arthur come up with a plan to try and get him back.

No I'm not, I am so not o.k.
A moment later, mom worriedly burst into Blake’s room and not only hearing her but turning her head to the bathroom door and seeing that it was wide open, Blake flew to it and slammed it shut just as mom was about to walk in. She even locked it. “Oh my goodness honey what’s going on? Blake! Blake!!” mom said as she aggressively banged on the door. Had an intruder broken into their house and was now on the other side of the door attacking her daughter? She thought of the worst. “Mom calm down I’m fine,” Blake said. “What’s going on? Why were you screaming? What’s wrong?” “Nothing. It was just a giant cockroach but I killed it so we’re good.” “Goodness baby don’t do that, you almost gave me a heart attack,” mom said. “You had me thinking something terrible had happened to you.” “Sorry it was just a giant cockroach and I took care of it so we’re good.” “Oh my gosh,” she said sighing heavily as she threw her head down and just stood there for a moment catching her breath. She thought her daughter was being attacked or had fallen and had seriously injured herself. “Sorry, I know I freaked you out.” “You really did, I thought someone had broken into our house and was in there attacking you.” “No it was just a giant cockroach sorry,” Blake said, obviously lying. She didn’t want her to know what was going on with her because she was going to freak out and make a super huge deal out of it and most likely ban her from playing video games again and that was so not going to fly because video games weren’t just her favourite pass time, they were her only pass time, and so with them banned and out of the picture, her life was officially going to be over. It was going to become a major bore and she was not going to let that happen. Video games were her life and she wasn’t going to give them up for anything. “Are you sure you’re o.k.?” “I’m fine mom. It freaked me out a little bit but I’m good.” “O.k.,” mom said and headed for the door. “You shouldn’t scream like that.” “Sorry.” She walked out of the bedroom closing the door behind her as inside the bathroom, Blake continued to freak out; she just transformed into Lila and it was beyond insane. It was nuts. She wished so bad that what was happening to her was an extension of the kooky dream she had but it wasn’t, it was real life, she really did just transform into Lila and when she went and stood in front of the mirror and saw herself again, she gasped as inside her heart thundered like a storm. “Oh-my-gosh,” Blake shakily said as her body quivered on. She was looking right at herself but she couldn’t believe what she was seeing because it was madness. It was absolute madness; not only having the exact same dream the main character of a video game had but transforming into her too, what was even that? It was ludicrous. Eyes widened, she then softly ran her fingers through her tall hair and when she pushed it back hoping that it was going to stay down, it floated back up into the air and continued waving like seaweed on the sea floor. Her heart thundered louder and dropping to her knees, she began to have a panic attack; breathing in and out so deeply it was like her lungs were shrinking in size. Instantly becoming nauseous, she then crawled to the toilet and vomitted and when she was done, she grabbed a piece of tissue and wiped her mouth, and then flushed the toilet. Getting off the floor, she then walked to the sink and washed her mouth and her face, and after she grabbed a towel and patted her face dry, she just stood there for a good while blankly staring at her reflection; failing to believe that what was happening was actually what was happening. “Oh my gosh,” she whisperingly said as inside, her chest continued to constrict with fear. What was happening to her? How was what was happening even possible? It made no sense and trying to make sense out of it was like trying to find a needle in a haystack, it was pointless. “O.k., o.k., you just transformed into Lila, don’t freak out. Freaking out never solved anything, what you need to do is calm down, that’s right, just calm down and everything’s going to be o.k. Deep breath in.” She took in a deep breath. “Deep breath out.” She breathed out. “Again.” Blake breathed in and out deeply a few times and when she was calm enough, she unlocked the bathroom door and went into the bedroom, and then locked the bedroom door to make sure mom didn’t barge in again and see her. Walking up to the display, she then grabbed the cover for The Golden Quintessence and removed the booklet inside it, and sat down on the bed to look through it. She brushed through pages 2, 4, 6, and 8 but when she came to page 10, she stopped as inside, her heart skipped a massive beat; there was a picture of Lila levitating in the air. Her hair and her eyes were glowing gold and so was her skin and the moment Blake saw the picture and realized just how uncanny their looks were, she knew for certain that what was happening to her was connected to the game. But how? Why? What was going on? “The bearer of the golden soul is the person who has been chosen to carry on its legacy, a vessel molded specifically to its purpose. And there are no mistakes made, whoever is chosen to be the bearer of the golden soul has been chosen for a reason and she must accept her path and arise to her responsibility for it is her destiny and her life knows no greater meaning than this. It is her calling and only when she answers to it, shall she take her place as the light of the world and become the golden quintessence,” she read the paragraph at the bottom and then looked up as her eyes darkened on with worry. “Not good.” A moment later, she was on the phone talking to Arthur, pacing back and forth like a mad woman as inside, her heart continued to thunder. The most bizarre thing just happened to her and she had no idea what to do. “Dude I need you. I need you right now!” she said and hearing the panic in her voice, Arthur who was lying down on his bed watching a Christian movie, immediately sat up, concerned. “Whoa hey what’s going on?” he asked. “I can’t explain over the phone just please come over right now. It’s an emergency.” “O.k. I’m on my way.” It was around 09:00 hours in the morning and so having already bathed and had his breakfast, he just put on his shoes and ran out of the room. Downstairs, he went and grabbed his bike from the basement and when he carried it out the front door and got on it, he rode as fast as he could to Blake’s place. She lived less than ten minutes away from where he lived and so he was going to be there in no time. Meanwhile back at Blake’s place, she was still pacing back and forth, continuing to freak out over the strange thing that was happening to her, she was even shaking. Just then, a knock came to the door and forgetting that she had locked it, Blake quickly dove onto the bed and threw the covers over her to hide herself. Mom tried to open the door but it was locked. “Honey?” she said. Blake remembered that she had locked the door and stuck her head out from underneath the covers. “Hey mom, what’s up?” Blake said. “What is going on? Why’s your door locked?” “I was uh . . . Um . . . Shaving. I was shaving and I didn’t want you to barge in here and see my nakedness.” “Eww, why aren’t you shaving in the bathroom?” mom wondered. “Because the light’s better in here.” “Eww. Anyway, breakfast will be ready soon and I want you nice and clean when you come down.” “Uh mom?” Blake said and mom stopped and turned back. “Yeah?” “Is there any chance I can have my breakfast in here?” “What? No, you know the rules. We eat together,” mom said. “I know but I uh . . . Um . . . Cramps! I have terrible cramps and I can’t walk.” “Oh don’t worry, I have some painkillers I’ll give you some.” “I’ve already taken some but there’s still so much painful I just want to lie down,” Blake groaningly said, selling it. “Aw honey.” “I’ll be fine. Just please leave my food at the door and when I feel better, I’ll come and see you.” “O.k. honey, feel better soon,” mom said. “Thanks mom. Oh and by the way, Arthur’s coming over. He’ll be here soon so when he shows up, please just send him on up.” “Goodness it’s so early, what is he doing coming over so early?” “We have a huge biology test to study for and he’s got plans this afternoon so we decided to meet and study now,” Blake answered. “Oh o.k. well, don’t push yourself too hard alright? If you’re not up to it, just tell him you’ll study by yourself later so that you can get some rest and feel better.” “Will do mom.” “Alright,” mom said and walked away from the door, and went downstairs to the kitchen to start making breakfast as in her room, Blake remained sighing in huge relief; she actually bought it. That should give her and Arthur enough time to come up with a solution to her rather peculiar problem. “Blake Jasmine Morgan . . . What on earth have you gotten yourself into,” she said to herself and groaned in defeat as she plopped her face down into the mattress. “This is so not ideal.” Minutes later, Arthur’s bike pulled up in the front yard and after he lay it down on the grass, he bolted to the front door and knocked. Shortly after, mom opened. “Oh hey Arthur good morning?” she greeted. “Good morning miss Blake’s mom,” Arthur greeted back. “I’m here to see Blake.” “Yeah come on in, she told me you were coming over to do a little studying.” “For the big test tomorrow yes.” “Alright go on up she’s waiting for you,” mom said. “Thank you.” “Oh and head’s up, she’s got terrible cramps so she might be a little icy.” “Copy that,” he said and ran up the stairs to her room as mom closed the door and returned to the kitchen to continue making breakfast. Upstairs, Arthur reached Blake’s bedroom door and when he knocked on it and identified himself, she quickly unlocked and opened it. But not exposed, she had covered herself with one of her blankets. “Dude what’s up? I came as fast as I could,” he said panting as Blake locked the door again. “Are you o.k.?” “No I’m not, I am so not o.k.,” she bleatingly said. “What’s going on? What’s the emergency?” “O.k. um . . . Something has happened to me and I need you to not freak out.” “Not freak out about what?” Arthur asked. “About what I’m about to show you.” “Why are you covered up like that?” “Because something has happened to me and I need to hide myself until I’m certain that you won’t freak out,” Blake said. “Oh-my-gosh . . . You cut your hair. What! You cut your hair?” “No I didn’t, I would never cut my hair.” “Huh, you shaved off your eyebrows,” he said. “No.” "You ate something you never knew you were massively allergic to and now your whole body has broken out into gross hives." “No.” “Ah, you grew a moustache.” “No, stop guessing so that I can tell you,” she said. “Alright what's up?” “Are you seated?” “No I’m not,” Arthur answered. “I think you should sit down.” “Oh man, usually when people tell people to sit down it’s not good.” “No it’s not,” Blake said and an icy shiver immediately ran down his spine. He was hoping it wasn’t that serious but by the looks of it and the sound of the dread in her voice, he could just tell that it was. He could feel it in his spirit. “O.k. bro, you’re starting to scare me a little bit, what’s going on?” he said as he sat down on the bed. “Just . . . Ugh! Just don’t freak out alright.” “Stop saying don’t freak out. The more you tell me to not freak out, the more I freak out.” “Alright um just sit there and be cool alright? Just be cool,” Blake said. “Sit here and be cool, got it.” “Yeah so um, I woke up not myself this morning and immediately called you here so that you can help me figure out what to do because this has never happened to me before and it’s freaking me out.” “Hey, how come you’re allowed to freak out and I’m not?” Arthur asked wondering. “Because you’re a Christian and it’s in your spiritual DNA to handle situations better than the rest of us.” He paused for a moment as he thought about it. “Fair enough.” “Awesome, alright, here I go.”
