Chapter Twelve

"What do we do from here?" I asked as I stared at the ground refusing to look up at the two of them.  Rayne sighed heavily. "You're so lucky that we were here. They would've killed you."  Carter nodded. "You just stood there. They should've been teaching you how to defend yourself and not just how to rule."  "She needed to know how to rule though." Rayne said sadly.  I squeezed the end of the shirt that I wore as I looked up at the both of them finally. There wasn't a scratch or bruise on them at all. You wouldn't have imagined that they'd just did what they did. I cleared my throat before asking again. "What do we do now?"  Carter looked over to Rayne while Rayne gave me a sad smile. She slowly placed her hand on my shoulder. "You rule as we watch."  From that moment on, things went back pretty quickly. I went into shock so Carter had to takeover. She demanded for everyone to use their abilities to help clean up the mess. She and Rayne helped clean up and restore plenty except for the border. Raine issued a curfew for everyone's safety in case someone returned. It will end at 7:00 AM. We had been inside the palace for hours now. We made sure to have all of the staff in their rooms and we locked ourselves at my deceased father's office which would now be mine. There wasn't anyone allowed in the room except for the three of us and Hope. Rayne paced the room while biting her nails as Carter sat on the desk and rolled her eyes. "Will you stop acting like an i***t? There will be no more of those people coming here. What are you worried for? You literally ripped someone's heart out!"  Rayne looked around. "It isn't them I'm worried about." "There's a lot that has to be done now. The King is dead which makes Princess Raine a Queen." Hope announced as she leaned against the bookshelf with her arms crossed.  "She's obviously not prepared for that." Carter mumbled.  "The border is down so we couldn't possibly have a funeral." Hope said. I looked up. "What? Why?"  She sighed heavily. "We could create another force field but they could knock it down like the last plus this is a funeral for a Royal. Everyone in this kingdom will be in attendance which will draw a huge crowd and make it easier for another attack."  "So we just bury him without honoring him whatsoever?" I asked as I stood up. "We can have a funeral but it should be family only." Hope suggested.  "She's right." Carter started. "It'll be too dangerous."  Hope gave me a sad smile before touching my shoulder. I sniffed as I stared elsewhere refusing to make eye contact with anyone in the room. Hope sighed heavily before moving away from me to give me space. Carter awkwardly looked out the window while Rayne continued to pace the room.  "What are you so worried for?" Hope asked as she stared at Rayne. Before Rayne could respond, the balcony doors flew open caused by the wind. I stood up and walked towards the door as the flowers that decorated the front gates were all dying quite quickly.  "I was worried about that." Rayne replied as she walked towards the door of the office.  Carter closed the doors to the balcony. "Where are you going?"  Rayne took a deep breath before opening the door. She stood there for a minute without saying a word before closing her eyes and inhaling deeply. "Hello!"  "Do you have to always disobey me?" A voice said from the other side of the door. Rayne dropped her hand from the knob before rolling her eyes. She walked away from the door as a man followed behind her. He wore an all black suit with a red dress shirt. With eyes as black as his suit, he stared at Rayne with disappointment.  "You left? You thought it was smart to just up and leave?" He exclaimed.  "Yes! I did actually." She shot back.  He growled causing Hope, Carter, and I to stare at the man in disbelief. Rayne rolled her eyes at his sudden growl as he slammed his hand on the desk. "You have a job, a duty, in which you are refusing to do! You sit on that throne because it is your birth right!"  Rayne turned around quickly before pointing her finger directly in the unknown man's face. "Don't you dare! I sit on that throne right now because you have other plans in which you need me in order for it to work and I refuse! I refuse to do your dirty work for you, Father." She snarled.  "You have no choice! You lost that option when you sat on the throne!"  "Well shit." Carter mumbled as the two of them continued to argue at one another.  "What?" I whispered back.  "Looks like little Rayne hasn't be too honest with us." Carter started. "The man she's arguing with is Lucifer and that's her Father."  "Oh great! I sat my ass on the throne for a second and all of a sudden I have to do your dirty work for you!" Rayne shot back. "I told you that I wouldn't do it and we came to an agreement. I would rule Hell and you'd leave everything else alone!"  "Exactly and are you ruling Hell?" He asked. "No! Because you're too busy hanging out with the mortals! I've been the one sending the souls to Hell since you've abandoned the throne!"  "I'm only ruling Hell because you're too busy trying to rule everything else!" Rayne yelled.  "Goddammit!" Lucifer yelled back. "It is what was supposed to always happen!"  "It wasn't and you know that!"  "I'm sorry to interrupt!" Carter started. She shrugged. "Alright I'm not but shouldn't you be taking your daddy issues to Hell?"  "How dare you-" Lucifer started but he was cut off by Carter's hand.  "Don't even finish that sentence. You and I aren't even supposed to know each other."  He stared at her for a second before speaking. "Who are you?"  "Carter." Carter revealed. "Daughter of Zeus, Goddess of the Sky."  He confusingly stared at Carter before turning his attention back to Rayne who just shrugged. "How is this possible?"  "Different dimensions." Rayne answered.  "There are three of you." He said as he stared at me. "Who are you?"  "Queen Raine of The Runne Kingdom." Hope answered for me.  "Queen?"  "You're in her kingdom." Rayne replied. "We have the same name and the same face."  He stared at the three of us before whispering, "How Remarkable!"  "You should leave now." Rayne said as she attempted to push her father out of the room.  "This is it! If you've managed to cross dimensions then this could be the thing that makes it all happen!" He whispered.  "No! It will never happen!" Rayne said with venom in her voice.  He chuckled before walking towards the door. He looked back at his daughter and shook his head. "You cannot stop what is supposed to happen."  "I can and I will." Rayne shot back. He scoffed before walking out of the room making sure to slam the door behind him. Rayne sighed heavily before groaning loudly.  Carter shook her head as she stared at Rayne. "When were you going to tell us?"  Rayne looked up slowly. "What? About Lucifer being my Dad?"  "That and you being the Antichrist."  "What?" Hope exclaimed.  Rayne walked over to Carter and stared at her suspiciously. "How do you know about that?"  "The Antichrist usually appears before the end of the world. There's a reason why I was drawn towards this dimension. It was you!" Carter explained. "I kept seeing your face. We all look alike so I simply assumed that it was because of the little princess over here but now I know. It was Journee's face that I was seeing but it was yours!" "Shut up." Rayne growled.  "You are the end of the world."
