Mother/Daughter Bonding

            Allison's pov:

           Just as Nicholai promised, my mother was given her freedom and the rest of the slaves were sent to the castle. I can't believe that he just killed my former master like that. I mean, I knew that he had power over the elements, but he just touched him and he burst into flames. But, I was glad he was dead, he was a horrible vampire and master. On another, more upbeat note, me and my mother have been bonding and it was like I never left her. She still gives the best hugs and I feel so safe when I am with her. She really is the best mother.

           A few days later I was sitting in my mother's new room with Rachel talking to my mother about the recent events that have happened since I got to the castle. "So, he really is your mate then? How is that even possible?" My mother asked me. "I'm not really sure, to be honest. Nicholai has been researching it and talking to the elders. I guess I am the first half breed anyone has ever heard of. He wants to mate right away to keep me safe since his brother is still out there." I said to her. "Are you sure your ready? You are so young still? I can see that he loves you, but are you happy?" I can always count on my mom to make sure I am truly happy. "Yes mom, I know I have always hated his kind, but Nicholai is different. He is always gentle with me and is very kind. I have told him I want to wait and he is willing to wait for me to be ready." I explained to my mother. "But, his brother tried to kill you for being his mate. What if he comes after you again? I can't lose you." She started crying a little bit. I gave her a hug and promised her she would never lose me. 

            A knock on the door broke our hug, so I quickly got up to see who it was. Of course it was Nicholai. He took my hand as he entered the room. "How are you ladies doing today? Do you find the room to your liking Sarah?" My mother got up from the bed and bowed to him. "I love my room, thank you. I can never repay the kindness that you have shown me. I can see that you will make a wonderful mate to my little girl." Her words made me smile and I was happy that my mother approved of him as her blessing meant more to me than anything. "Not a problem at all Sarah. I would do anything for the woman who brought my mate into this world." He said as he kissed my forehead. I blushed and looked away. My mom and Rachel cooed at my bashfulness. "I came in here to tell you that dinner will be ready soon, so if you all want to come down to the dining room, I will escort you." Nicholai said to us. We all nodded and agreed. I didn't realize how hungry I was until that moment.

            As we made it to the dining room I saw Cassandra, Nicholai's sister already there. I have not seen her since we came back from my former masters. "Cassandra, this is my future mate's mother, Sarah. Sarah, this is Cassandra, my sister." Nicholai said to them. "It is nice to meet you." Cassandra said. "You as well." My mother said to her. We sat at the table to eat and we had pleasant conversations throughout. It was nice having my mother, my best friend and my future mate all sitting down eating together. It felt like a family.

            After dinner, I said goodbye to everybody and Nicholai and I went up to my room. "I need to leave for a few days, my love." He said to me once the door was closed to my room. "What? Why? Where are you going?" I asked anxiously. "I have heard from my guards that they have found my brother and I must go there and bring him back here so he can meet the true death." "But, why can't the guards bring him here themselves? Why do you have to go?" "The guards are not strong enough to overpower my brother. I must go to ensure that he gets here without any casualties." I was sad to see him go, but I knew he was right. I sighed and gave him a kiss. "I understand, please come back as soon as you can and be careful." He held me tight around the waist like he didn't want to let me go. He kissed my forehead and he let it linger a little longer than usual. "Please stay safe as well. If you need anything just ask the guards and spend time with your mother and Rachel while I'm gone, so you don't get bored." "Of course, but I will miss you." As will I, my love." He kissed me on the lips and said goodbye so he could get ready to leave.

              While the King was gone, I spent a lot of time with my mother and Rachel. They tried to brighten my mood, since I was sad that I haven't seen Nicholai in a few days. I knew he would be home soon since he can't be away from me for very long. I knew another day away from me and he would start to weaken and become ill. I also started to sleep with my mother in her room at night, as I was still having nightmares of Stefan. She would card her fingers through my hair, hold me tightly and sing to me like she did when I was a child. It was very comforting, though I missed Nicholai's cuddles at night. 

            On the fourth day, Nicholai came back with Stefan and the guards. He smirked at me as he walked passed me into the castle. He was put into the dungeons beneath the castle and a guard was posted at his cell round the clock. I felt relieved to have him found, but I got a shiver down my spine when he looked at me. It was very unnerving, but the King assured me that he would not be a threat to me anymore. He was going to executed and meet the true death within the week. That made me feel much better.

            That night I slept with Nicholai in my bed as he held me close. I missed him so much and I didn't realize I was crying silently until he used his thumb to dry my tears that were running down my cheeks. "What is it my love? Why are you crying?" "I don't know. I didn't realize I was. I guess I just missed you and I'm happy your back." He kissed the top of my head and held me tighter. "I will never leave you again." I started closing my eyes and fell asleep. The last thing I heard was him whispering a gentle...
